I wouldn't think so because the fine plate has the same size holes everywhere on the plate and when I jam a big bug into the top plate off to one side it grinds up very evenly. Never hurts to try though.

Awesome write up @Obsessed 2 I agree with everything you said. That unsheething sound combined with the weight of the HerbRipper makes every aluminum grinder feel like a toy by comparison. Yeah it's cooler because it makes a SCHING noise, don't judge me.

Oh it's good :D I like not having the post in the center of my grinder, as it makes so much room for herb. But opening and closing magnetic is very nice. There is no perfect grinder... or at least that's what I keep telling myself so I buy more.

I have all 3 in Matte for the XL. I agree with you that the medium is more towards fine and the fine is finer but not by a huge margin. The coarse on the other hand is coarser then the BCG coarse for the most part
