Oh, you mean low ac input to the brick... @BabyFacedFinster - I think supplies are suppose to work down to 107VAC input but I believe there is a regulation circuit within that makes up for the lower AC input.

Well, I can tell you your meter would work on the Alpine 2020 too. Yes, its always live. And shallow to boot. I think I figured out the onboard meter. 3 green lights means charged. Thanks for linking that @RustyOldNail .

Fluxer Heaters, induction heaters for Dynavap

Silly question @mr_cfromcali ; Can the Fluxer power the Flix from the charge port with the right cable? :brow:

I haven't heard that tell-tale snap of an arc when plugging in the 2 amp supply. It does draw an instant 20 watts for a depleted pack.

Can you make it full wave DC? Maybe a filter cap? Pushing 9-12 volts? Why yes you could with that. It does require DC that maintains 2.3V minimum to keep the gate energized. I'd say power it with 2S 18650 and see what you get. That will be a slow heater. @Edgedamage - what is the blue...

There is not @acstorfer . I was suggesting @RustyOldNail to come up with a meter for that very reason. He made a cool one for Fluxer. @babaganush - thanks for the clarification. Technically, yes, the BMS will keep the cells charged and protected to the level of the device. It won't be...

@babaganush - They did? I can see it as possible, sure. That is far from the norm we've grown accustomed to. Can you link us to that statement? I can only say "Randall" is putting a lot of faith in the 10 amp BMS circuit. Technically, in my book, it is the same as a laptop 'always on...

    Alpine 2020/2021 - Induction Heater

@RustyOldNail - that is a very good question. Indeed, I paid the full $bill for mine. I cannot complain in the least even at this price-point. I also thought I'd have it about 30 days sooner. If I'd taken advantage of the coupon <I'm stupid when it comes to that crap> it'd been a steal! So...

Temp of the VapCap is "normal temps" but the circuit itself should remain 'touchable' throughout and after a normal heating cycle. FETs remain cool, the capacitor and inductor remains cool, and the work coil and its lead wires tend to get warm. Nothing that has ever burned me. I have put 4...

Good Randall got back to you. Yea, there is a difference between a charging supply and an actual power supply to run the unit. Interesting thought though. I don't know what it would hurt to have a full power supply power the unit when the battery is down. Technically, they are the same leads...

@InvisiKat - the connector should not get hot. Contact the manufacturer. 20 clicks with +5 is still only the equivalent of 40 clicks. However, if you are going by the battery lights to determine charge state, it is probably fuller than you realize. I was measuring the voltage at the power...

You left out that the pair of magnets are stronger together making a lighter vapcap act like Weebles. Nice summation however @Mono Loco . I wonder how long it'll be before I try to get into mine. Seems to be well cemented. I'm still working on day two of using the Alpine 2020. Got...

The 1/4" magnet is an ordinary axially polarized magnet. I've never found a decent dipole magnet. Not even sure if they'll stack. The smallness of the 1/4" lets the VC center as we expect. I have a glass table so the bevel edges will scratch the ano on the bottom. And it has a much softer...

Worth the wait @thunderstealer1337 - even if it takes another round trip, I can tell you it hits the mark when it is all said and done. I've put a fork in it and its all over my face. IT IS DONE!

Love those VEeWEe conversions! I remember a lead acid conversion from almost 30 years ago. Converter and an adapter plate LOL Doubled the Bug's output. I thought I have a few of these around... There's my source voltage for USB conversion.

Yep, exactly. 1/4 watts resistor lead-wires? Today Tesla etches the fuse shape in their joiner-sheets but yes, way cool technique for cutting out bad cells. Caveat; don't have anything nearby that can burn. Car fuses are so small today that they wire in nicely. If they blow, something else...

As gorgeous as the bottom surface is on the Alpine 2020, I had to put a few cork dots on there. A few silicon feet being included would not have hurt.
