Well I'm into my second month of waiting on my Mix-n-Ball Nano... no replies from the supplier. Live and learn. In the meantime, my Head Chef (that Max recommended) arrived. Looks fantastic. Shipped same day as ordered and arrived in maybe a week? 10 days? From Everyone Does It in the UK...

I read this comment from Lo before and sure enough it's true. Seems obvious now. Great tip! Another great tip from Lo was the vacuum sealer attachment for the Foodsaver, but that's another thread...

Morningflight, if you look back a few pages, you see Blissville links to purchase the non-beta version.

That mod shown above I believe is essentially a nail-looking thing with a round head. I imagine you just nail it in. Maybe a tiny hole pre-drilled in the wood stock to make sure nothing splits. Not sure glue would be needed, but I might dip the ponty end of this "nail" in wood glue before...

That's pretty sweet. Simple. I would think there would not be much wear on the lid as it is slid over that pin over the course of months. Nice tweak. So all new units will have this at some point I assume?

    The Magic-Flight Box

Funny how people use the following arguments: If it was bad for us, they wouldn't give it to us. Everything is carcinogenic, so why bother? It's been around for decades so it can't be harmful. As it turns out, most plastics and their components have now come under scrutiny. BPA, Styrene...

I couldn't tell from that pic if the ball was solid or had a spring under it. Given the small size, I believe it cannot be the type with the spring. I've installed several LBs with the spring mounted ball catch and they work great. Given the slight looseness of the LB lid, I'm sure this works as...

Thanks Paka. Using your mug analogy, how many decades have we been served hot coffee in styrofoam cups? All the while a carcinogen it turns out. So the fact that we are served coffee in acrylic isn't a comfort, I'm afraid. As I said, I don't stay up nights worrying about the plexi lid on my LB...

Hey Vito. I'm not staying up nights worrying about this, but the durability I'm not worried about. The off-gassing happens and the plastic still works and functions.

Ah, OK. The LB is the same, just no accessories. Got it, thanks

That's very true. Another thing is that the carbon filter is just a good idea since our homes are full of chemicals I want a cube...

Vito, does her LB have the small ball mod? To secure the lid as mentioned?

Standard glass would be a lot more brittle than the plexi that's there now, for sure. I don't know about high tech glass either. Just figuring there is likely some sort of space-age glass. Might cost more than the LB also. That's why I asked.

As a rule, I like old fashioned glass. You can microwave it, heat it, store in it... and it's completely inert. Assuming it hasn't been painted. Anyway, with high tech glass I wouldn't be surprised that some thin durable glass might be available.

It's the oxidation. That's why I store under vacuum. Things stay fresh for months, years. I have 2+ year old material that's fine and dandy.

Let's just say I don't agree with you and move on. You notice that styrofoam has been added to the cancer list? Plastics that are heated emit plasticizers and solvents.

    The Magic-Flight Box

First I've heard of this. Looks like a solid ball, not a ball catch (that has a spring under the ball). How long has this been out? Side note: Given the growing concerns of heating plastic, has anyone ever entertained a high-strength glass top?
