The replies you've had already are worth looking into, before you take the unit apart though give the threads (both male and female) on the battery cover a really good clean with an iso soaked qtip. Keep going until the grey residue stops coming off.

UV is a great deodoriser too, try leaving one in direct sunlight for a few days, never know, it might work and use very cheap lol!

I've mostly needed to do this with the EQ and ddave mods. Not quite the same situation, but you really don't need enough for there to be a detectable residue. Just the smallest amount is all you need. I never noticed any hey sticking to it personally, but the EQ does not get anywhere near as hot...

I've not got a herbo, but I've used a tiny bit of bees wax on joints before to help stop them sticking.

You can try rocking the joint slightly, that should get it loose. Do not twist if you can avoid it. When you get them apart you can use a little bees wax the help with this problem, just a tiny amount is all you need.

I'm not sure what's wrong with an enail coil for your purpose, either way your need a PID they come in AC and DC types. That controls your temp if you want intelligent temp control. Then you just need the correct sized power supply. Edit: beaten by someone way more knowledgeable 🤣
