Well, I think it's the length is to "isolate" the air path away from the electronics. There are plenty of heater designs that don't need an elongated input to be effective. I do agree there is no need for that rude and supercilious tone however!

Mine isn't mate! It fits very snugly, so much so that, as you say, you can create a slight convex or concave bend on it. Nowhere near touching the heater though. Same screen since it arrived in may '20
