same for me -- inner flame, at least 30 seconds. If I try to rush it with any variable of flame size, speed, etc, I tend to get too close to combustion for my taste. When you get it dialed in to where you like it, it's surprisingly consistent.

that hasn't been my rexperience. I can't use the default MP natively, it's too harsh for me. I find the XL MP makes it much more smooth I guess thats why they say YMMV

this is not an official IH; I got a friend an Anvil and he's been testing it out with custom IH. It's in the works, looks good, and so far heats the thermal battery in 55seconds from cold heat up. ... can't wait until there's a decent portable version!

I was so eager to get my Anvil because I knew this is what I was missing in my collection. The Anvil + Full Bowl + XL MP is such an amazing native setup, I don't even use my fancy glass anymore. I wouldn't consider myself someone with iron lungs, so I am not sure why I enjoy it so much...
