When using only the HT, then yes. However on a hydrabase some water will often make it there, so you can just put some in there from the start. So any water water that makes it there overflows back and you don't lose water level anywhere. Also it reduces the air volume inside.

For me, running almost boiling water through a glasspiece is very effective at dislodging large particles, then ISO cleans out the rest. To prevent it from happening again, you can simply push on the cap with your finger, that will make a little dome shape and also increases the friction.

No, I've just came to the same conclusion after some more playing with water levels. It's overall better with lower water level. :)

Check your bamboo if it's ok. Plug the bottom with your finger and blow into it, if you can blow air in, the bamboo is broken, if not it's faulty. Also a properly working EVO WILL combust if you pull very slowly for a looong time at heat above 3 oclock.

My old Cloud was tighter than both EVOs. So that's a counter example. The first EVO has a loud whistle and the second doesn't. I think the drag and whistle are random because of tiny variations in the bamboo and cannot be generalized to apply for old clouds or evos.
