After reading the unregulated thread i decided to give the setup a go with the pid set to 300 and just run it with the manual overide so is on demand rather than session. Worked well up to when i didnt realise how hot it was getting as i was using a water adaptor and needed two hands to hold it...

New PID, Broken PID or Coil? Negative Numbers.

Sounds like the thermocouple is wired the wrong way round I suspect its a thermocouple based on the max6675 or similar See: https://protosupplies.com/product/max6675-thermocouple-temperature-module-2/ Module Connections When hooking up a thermocouple, the red lead of the thermocouple...

Electric vapes with all-glass air & vapor path?

Looks very breakable especially if your prone to dropping stuff. Im not sure how compatible glass and accidents are.

Electric vapes with all-glass air & vapor path?

Here you go the coil now has a nice glass or ceramic housing Current stem selection the big one gives about a 20 mins session and you can just dip it in and out of the tube so the only thing your holding is the stem.

Looks pretty rapid 270C! I can see why you need the water adaptor. Have you managed to combust it yet? FRiES as in fries the weed? I had an idea for a name for mine - Hot Hole - just dont put a finger in

Electric vapes with all-glass air & vapor path?

In its rawest form yes but you use the copper wire as a handle rather than holding the tube - the top of the tube remains cool and you can hold it there as well. I currently have it in a small glass jar/mug so you just lift that if you want as well or leave on a table - once the straw gets hot...

Electric vapes with all-glass air & vapor path?

If your happy with a bit fo DIY i have been tinkering and have come up with: Only bit which isnt all glass is a tiny hole with the thermocouple tip in it but you can mount that on the outside tube instead. There is a thread about it and similar designs at...

Oops was vaping a bit too much and with the 18mm tube and just under 1 ohm element set to 70% max duty cycle and was drawing too much through the LR7843 MOSFET for too long - saw a bit of smoke and then the mosfet detached itself from the pcb with a nice pop. Have adjusted the the duty cycle to...

Not posted about the pid/vape design in a while as all i have been doing is just vaping with the 20mm tube - its become my daily driver - i used the TM2 for a few stems the other day and it just doesnt cut the mustard in the same way for me anymore. I drilled some holes in a couple of the 18mm...

Cool wood working skills - need to do some kind of wood cover for my tubes but dont have the tools or space. I have been playing about with some 3mm glass beads and the 8mm ID stem. The weed chamber part is on the right. Conclusion is that it cools the vapour quite well but also kills the...

Not really done much recently other than tuning the PID for the 3mm nichrome and 20mm tube and lots of testing :) - the git repo has been updated with the pin, tuning and heater settings to the top of main.py to make things simpler to setup and more in one place. I did look at nozzle end for...

Have a read of the below article as i found it explains D very well. https://www.controleng.com/articles/understanding-derivative-in-pid-control/ Out of interest what PID controller are you using? Your build is looking great.

I think this affects the taste so much - as it cools past a certain point the taste drops off maybe i need to trim the 10mm ID one down and test it more but not sure my jars can take it as when full is about 0.5g I know what you mean about the different temp feel and the joint like experience -...

Yea i was thinking the same thing - some 2mm wall tubes with the bottom some how sealed For me not sure there is much point going greater than the 20mm diameter the 24mm or 30mm test tubes are way to big - im thinking the 18 worked better for the thinner stems but the 20mm seems to have a bit...

Some how i have managed to break a few of the tubes - the bottom got broken on 2 of them - i think the handle was set too low and when putting down/into the glass jar i must had hit to bottom harder than i thought. So have adjusted the handle so it hits the lip of the jar before the tube hits...

Finally put together a little box as i was getting annoyed with the breadboard version with wires getting loose and needed the usb tether to the computer for power. It really is fairly simple just a plastic box everything fits into and also a LM2596 step-down dc buck convertor set at 12v ->...

Yes you do get some condensation but the longer it remains as a vapour the nicer the taste i think. Your chamber for weed is quite short and im sure having the yellow balls heated will help keep the temperature up and flavours for longer - Im using a very long chamber for the weed like up to...

@CaleidosCope looks nice and neat - whats the ID of your stem? I have been temped with adding some cooling balls or similar to the larger stem - i think that in order for certain terpenes flavours to be taste-able they need to be past a certain temperature and in a vaporised state and not...

Does the thermocouple in the tube help? - yes i think it does it gives a pretty good reading of the air in the tubes temperature - it also solves the issue of the pid keeping the element temperature stable but the tube getting hotter and hotter over time and keeps the tube temperature more...
