I think you meant 375°F/190°F. Happy New Year old friend. Glad to see we're both still here. :) (And to you too @fernand) edit:o oops. I made a typo too (as you pointed out). 375°F/190°C

No, when I want to clean the donut I switch my mod to power mode (turn off temp mode), turn the power up from 12.5 watts to 15 watts, and pulse it trying to keep the donut just barely glowing. That usually does the trick.

The thing to remember about wattage versus temp settings: The wattage is how fast and how much you heat the coil. The temp settings are to protect you from over heating (burning) your oil or coil. So if you're not getting a good hit, you have to check if your mod is going into temp protect or...

I use the Mini at home and the Basic when not. Mostly.

I have both (the Basic and the original Mini), and you've hit the nail on the head. The Basic is much smaller, but it has a smaller internal non-replaceable battery. The Mini is larger, but takes 18650 batteries. Both have the same (upgradeable) firmware. Both are well built and work well...

I just loaded some concentrate (discussion and math being one thing, vaping concentrate another :)) and it's a little anemic in TC/Ni/360°F, but I've been thinking about either upping the temp a little or trying out the new function in the eVic mini firmware and boosting the starting power to...

My V3 arrived this weekend while I was on the road, but I've been playing for an hour or so, and I have a few observations. I never ordered a V2.7, only the V2.5 (and some black clones), so the V3 mouthpiece is new to me. Haven't at all made up my mind about it, but my first thoughts are that I...

@fernand, Looks like AngelCigs has the vtc Basic, mod only, in all colors, in stock for 8/31 shipping from their US warehouse, for $30. Or so they say.

@fernand: 101Vape.com has the black and silver models in stock. Fast, cheap shipping in the US. (Ordered mine Fri night, had it on Monday afternoon. $6 priority shipping.) HOWEVER, they only have the whole kit, not just the mod, which includes a CUBIS Pro Mini Atomizer. Cost is $40. I didn't...

My JoyeTech Basic came a day early! (Gotta love ordering it Friday night and getting it Monday!). Current firmware version is 4.02, which is what mine came with. Battery was 90% charged and the time and date was set, though it was off by one day and an hour (from EDT). PC and Mac software is...

I ordered one on Friday; it's shipped and due to arrive on Tuesday. I have high hopes for this one; I have the Joyetech eVic Mini, which is very similar in functionality but uses an 18650 (and is larger than the Basic, of course). I really like the eVic Mini, and prefer it to any of the iSticks...

The eVic VTC-Mini has received a couple of updates since I last mentioned it. 3.02 - Adds custom Logo, changes the menus a little, adds the TCR value to the display when in TCR mode. 3.03 - Adds Flappy Birds game. (no shit). Go here for the main download page. Once there you will find info...

One of three things has happened. 1) Half the donut is cracked and that's why the resistance has gone up so much. 2) One of the connections at the bottom of the donut has gone bad, and the wire is just touching it, not really connected to it. 3) One of the wires has a bad connection to the 510...

I remember that interchange, now that you mention it. I still don't lose oil to the mesh surrounding the cup. I mean the part of the DT atty that is below the main ceramic cup. Both just below it and in the metal base part. However the oil gets there. I haven't had bottom air hole leakage...

@fernand: This is nothing new; as OF pointed out we're somewhat at the mercy of the e-cig mfgs. It's nice that we are going though a period where smaller mods are in fashion. I don't need a 200W monster with three cells. I order the medium resistance atty's for a couple of reasons. All of my...

The 510 atty's I use all have nichrome wires, and aren't really suitable for temp control, since their resistance change as they get hot is minimal. That said, I deliberately order 1.8Ω-2.2Ω 510 atty's, not the lower resistance ones, and hence couldn't try TC with them even if I wanted to...

Well, yes, but. What material do you plan on using for your heater? If it's something with a nice TCR, like Ni200 (or even Ti or SS to a lesser extent), have you investigated how long the wire has to be to approach 3.0Ω? My calculations show that (with Ni200, 28 gauge) to make 3.0Ω load you'd...

One of the reasons I'm a fan of the eVic-VTC Mini is that it will provide less power when desired. Unlike almost every other mod on the market, it will go below 5 Watts (down to 1 Watt). For the DV atty, of course, ~10 Watts are needed, but I have lots of other atty's that I like to vape at 3 or...
