This style of roasting tube will work with both the glass and ss heater covers. The only limitations I have on my roasting tubes is that the stainless steel roasting tips won't work with the glass heater cover. Otherwise they are all interchangeable.
Was thinking about how I could use...
I have been enjoying my LSV with the glass heater cover installed again. I am using a DIY 18mm glass roasting tube that is using Fluidization for effective and tasty extraction. Most of the time I use it with a silicone whip connected to the top of the mouthpiece tube. It is sort of like using a...
I have been experimenting with the 18mm glass roasting tube to see why it produces such smooth vapor and have determined that I am creating a glass fluidization chamber. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluidization
The Volcano, Herbalizer, and Cloud also utilize a fluidization chamber arrangement...
I installed the glass heater cover (minus the screen) back into my LSV to try out the 18mm glass roasting tube. It still has the ss heater cover installed as well. 10 watts is a very good starting point with the LSV. The flavor is as good as I expected it would be. I didn't get a transfer wand...
Another new roasting tube configuration to announce. It is a wine cork with a 1/2" hole bored through it. A 13mm x 1" long glass tube fits into one end and a 13mm x 3.5" long glass tube fits into the other. A 1/2" screen is captured between the tubes. The air flow is just amazing. So easy to...
Here are some photos of the 18mm glass roasting tube with the two screen configuration. It is always easier to explain with a photo. I am able to use fine mesh for both screens so the glass stays much cleaner. The smaller screen is shown on top of the 1" screen in the top photo for a size...
The list is still moving. Not always smoothly though. I send emails out to the address of the original email unless asked otherwise. If I don't hear back, I assume there is no longer an interest or financial ability to get one. Spam folder may sometimes catch an email too. The best way to check...
Very nice roasting tube bagelbanger. Silicone Turbo Tube is still my favorite roasting tube. Although I have been using my new 18mm glass roasting tube the most lately. I have an 18mm fitting with a straight section of tubing connected that works great for direct draw. It is 22 mm long so it...
@Caligula - The EV-2 has an 18mm connection. The nano tube is less than 10mm so there would be too much air leakage.
@Zangano Cruel - Thanks. The modular design allows many different configurations. It is fun to build it yourself.
@bagelbanger - You are correct. It isn't meant for the HI. It...
@Dr. Plutonious - Glad to hear you are enjoying your HI. That is incredible that you are getting such good performance at such a low voltage. It shows how efficient the HI is at converting electrical energy to energy for heating the air. You can now see why the Turbo Tube is still my favorite...
Was thinking about how I could use the 18mm glass roasting tube in an inverted orientation when it occurred to me that all I needed to do was install a 1" screen in the middle of the FtF adapter. Now I can use it with the heater unit in an upright position. A HT could be used if the MtM adapter...
Thanks toros23. The new 18mm roasting tube design is working very well so far. Nice that I don't have to use as much material to get the optimum fill depth.
Speaking of roasting tube designs. Somebody was asking me about a tube modification that would prevent the HI 3/8" center tube from...
Nicotek is the company and Metro is the brand. The longer battery actually came from a disposable package. Seems like a waste to throw away rechargeable batteries for a one time use. They provide power longer than the shorter stock batteries.
I have cleaned the screen several times now and it...
I have been looking for a solution to the problem of securely holding a screen inside of an 18mm roasting tube and having it easy to change out / clean. It had to be all glass and fit multiple configurations. I was thinking that it had to be done by a glass blower. I was wrong. I just needed the...
No worries ataxian. I will get you a vaporizer some day soon.
Here is the results of my experiment.
The tube on the bottom was only used at a low temperature.
The tube on the top was used at higher temperatures.
The oil was extracted from both tubes using the technique described above...
I have pretty much stopped roasting the dirty hemp / cotton fiber after I discovered an easy way to reclaim the oil and that I have an amazing new device for vaporizing the oil. E-Cig Cartridge Mod
Have been letting the filter get very oily before changing it. The dirtier it gets, the more it...
@vorrange - I need to make a small batch of HILites very soon now that I have the jig made.
Thanks for posting the photos and video Madcap79. Glad you are enjoying it.
@jambandphan03 - Thanks for posting the video. Nice when you can still use old combustion pieces. I recently found that I...
I didn't really want to get into e-cigs since I already have my hands too full as it is, but a guy gave me a kit with disposable cartridges and asked me if I could modify them. How am I going to say no to that?
So I removed the paper and cut down one of the ss cartridges about 1/4" above the...
One of the challenges of getting the air to the same temperature of the heating element is getting the film of hot air away from the heating element. Turbulent air works the best for stripping this hot film away. Higher velocity or some sort of physical feature is needed to create the...
