Thanks for the post. Maybe I'm misinterpreting something about Alan's latest post (#5917) - he mentions something about people on the waiting list having the RBT heater as an option. I took that to mean the HSA heater is an option? Like I said, maybe I'm mistaken.

Can anyone explain in a little more detail what the HSA (high surface area) heater core offers for the HI? How does it differ (pros and cons) with the other typical HI SS or glass cores? Someone else on the forums recently mentioned a portable HI - does this have something to do with it?

Still intrigued by the HI-Egg. So you just wanted a piece with a little more wood to make it more comfortable to hold due to heat? Is the HI-Egg also shorter than the other HI or are they the same height? Cant tell from the pics.

I've been trying native mode as well recently when I use the CU and I think I prefer it to using the glass tube. Although perhaps it doesnt cool the air quite as much? (I'm not sure, it's not obvious.) But it feels more comfortable to me to use it native. I mean it isn't like the glass tube...

Thanks for that. Now I see that the newer 2016 Nitecore charger can only charge a single battery at 1A. Its either 2 batteries at 0.5A, or 1 battery at 1A. Maybe the XTAR you linked to is better after all (charges 2 batteries both at 1A).

I was thinking the D might mean display, but the 2 middle ones I linked to are call i2 and still have displays. I wonder if there is a newer (2016) D2 model? It says on these ads that the newer 2016 12 version charges faster. Maybe the same is true of a newer model D2?
