Glad to hear more Nomads are going out!

Observation: The heater ribbon sometimes makes the same metallic pings and crackles when cooling down just like the Okin tongs - and I love that sound from the Okin.

So that's a really cool tie in between the two even if completely unintentional.

Anybody ever have their heater get stuck inside the device?

Mine has been stuck a couple weeks now. Luckily I haven't really wanted to try the high heater yet but I'd like to be able to get it out. I've tried gently banging the device but don't like the way it vibrates the heater ribbons and don't want to break them.

I tried gently prying it out around the circumference but it won't budge and don't want to ruin any wood. I even tried pulling it with tweezer using toilet paper in between but the tweezers still slipped and I scratched the PEEK.

By the way, don't be as dumb as me and try to torch any sticky or remaining herb out of the screen while it is still in the stem. Didn't realize briar burl would char so quickly lol.

Hey man!

Sorry to hear that!!
It happened to me recently too.
I messed up...

Take your time... I'll come back with some instructions Dan sent back then... I'll look them up.

But I think unscrewing the small screw between the two magnets should solve your problem and get it out...!

Édit :
Here's some of Dan's advice for solving my problem.
I'm writing to you privately to share the rest of his email with you
" The brass ring on the Nomad 2's is held in place by that little screw. Do you have the hex key for that? You can try loosening the screw and then installing the heater module, and then tighten the screw again with the heater in place. See if that helps. "

Dude thanks for the tip, unfortunately it is not such a simple matter for me. I have taken the screw out but the heater is still stuck in place.

I will continue to try and gently work it back and forth.

Hello again @seriousTone !

I really recommend you write to @Dan Morrison !
He definitely wouldn't want to leave you like this!

My other advice would be to try removing the heater after it's been used for a session.

And also, whether it's for inserting and removing the batteries or the heater, I've noticed that there's always a position that allows for better handling.
I'll also gradually rotate the heater—if possible—because there's a point where removal will be slightly easier. It's minimal, but it can make a difference.

But I know it's difficult to rotate in that area, especially without the right tool... the times I've had problems with adjustment and tolerance, I haven't found a suitable tool yet.

-------------------------

And what about your briar stem... what exactly happened?

Please keep us posted!

Thank God I did end up getting it out somehow.

I used a variety of plastic spudger and pic tools for taking apart electronics. I wa Sable to get it under the heater itself and pop it out.

The outside shell of the heater somehow ended up getting something on it, not quite tarnish but maybe more of a dried up oil even. Im not sure how because I made sure not to really touch the heater shell when inserting.

I used a magic eraser on it to remove whatever it was, it seems smooth at least now but still fits pretty tight.

I figured I might as well try the high heater, which seems to slide in and out smoothly.

The few hits I've taken from it I really enjoyed the speed in which vapor formed!

The briar burl stem: I thought it was a good idea to use a small torch to burn away some herb residue in the screen. Well it didnt take long to char that ring around the stem...and now I don't think it was a very good idea in the least.

Mainly it's just an aesthetic defect and on the unseen side of the stem at least.

Is that screw new, I thought earlier batches of the Nomad 2 did not have a screw between the two magnets??

I don't know if I understood the question correctly, but the @seriousTone one is a Nomad 2 from the second batch, the current one.
On batch 1, there was already this screw between the magnets.

@seriousTone

As for the briar wood stem... It's such a shame...
I wanted to burn it a bit like that on a Vapman...
Yes... wood burns!
I had used my Vapman just before, of course... it was one of the very rare times I put my brain down on the table... it was minimal, and a little sanding fixed it...
I can imagine how you felt right after... sorry for you!

Well, luckily, it's an accessory, not the Nomad itself!!!

So, you're starting to use the high heater setting?!

It's my favorite right now... a little faster and a little harder... and it's easier to get a darker roast.
Generally speaking, I prefer the low heater setting for the flavor... but I enjoy altering it with the high heater setting regularly!!

So much the better if this heater inserts and removes normally.

Let us know how it goes anyway!!

I'm curious... are there any adjustment issues for those who have already received their Precious?

I wouldn't worry too much about the charred briar burl. I think it's more superficial than it looks and could probably be sanded away if you're careful. I think I would personally leave it if it happened to me though, it looks kind of cool. Does it affect the taste of the herb when you vape?

hahaha we're you trying to shou sugi ban the vapman and you torched it too long? And you were able to salvage it with sanding?

I remember reading here someone saying they were not expecting the high heater to hit how it actually does and took them forever to try it.

I must say it is very fantastic so far, although I am still only on the first load with it.

It is much more mellow than i expected but with a faster heat up time. I've yet to overroast a hit so am happy i can still take my micro dose hits.

Ive combusted 3 times or so with the low heater; im wondering if the high heater will help with that as its always when tli know the load is already decently dark but I know i can get 1 more hit. But the long preheat at that point and not nailing your draw speed throws it over.

I guess time will tell, maybe tonight I'll finally finish this load. 😄

I hear ya, I'm not worried about trying to fix it at all. I've found that I always damage my nice things with scratches or drops pretty much when I first get them, not on purpose, and then they are good for years, not receiving blemishes.

So hopefully this was that instance.

Mine arrived today!!! Absolutely gorgeous, can’t stop marveling at it, will have to post some pics at some point. Didn’t remember to order batteries so can’t use it (haven’t been consuming for a while now, so unclear if I’ll really be using it), but I went ahead and ordered some so I’ll have the option to try.

But man, this thing is so sick it’s making me want to start dabbling again…

Haha no!
I was slowly starting my collection at that point...
I think it was my second vapman.
I vaped too much.
I saw a thread/a speck of dust sticking out... I had a lighter in my hand...

The rest is stupid!

But then... it was pretty superficial, and after a little sanding... only I could tell!

I remember reading here someone saying they were not expecting the high heater to hit how it actually does and took them forever to try it.

I loved the low heater for so long!
It actually took me a long, long time to try the high heater setting!

Even today, my preference is for the taste...
I can wait 3 seconds longer if the taste is better for longer.

To be clear, I'm particularly fond of the high heater setting right now for two reasons.

First reason: I just came back from a 3-4 week vacation with a live resin pen, as well as lower-quality flowers or CBD... and hash...
It was rather frustrating compared to the usual pleasure of vaping...

So I'm happy to have more easily effective results without the frustration!

The other reason is using the Nomad OG with paint. To protect their sleeves, any means are good... including pressing for 4 seconds instead of 8 seconds... and reducing the pressure I naturally apply to them by half...

So I'm glad to have both heaters and to be able to alternate between them!!

I guess time will tell, maybe tonight I'll finally finish this load. 😄

Oh my god... I just realized you take a puff and wait hours, even days, before continuing...
If I were you, it would have taken me months to get used to Dan's heating...
Wow... Respect!

@seriousTone & @BruCap
Perhaps CBD flowers can be helpful for both of you...?
One can experiment more, while the other can get back into it and enjoy the taste without the drawbacks!
