I was worried about the intake airhole when i first started messing about with test tubes and glass straws but found you just adjust how much you pack/tamp the inner straw affects airflow far more than any intake hole.

Also if your straw touches the bottom of your outer tube you can also adjust airflow but closing the straw off using the tube bottom
I was curious if you had some photos that you have that are representative of what you have been working on? I know you've done quite a bit of work in this area.

I dont have that many pics of every design layout i tried - most pics are on the 2 threads - i do have a draw full of previous versions as it has developed with different nichrome thickness, lengths and various tubes.

I have tried all sort of straw & tube size and material (glass/quartz) combinations

Outer tubes: OD 16, 18, 20, 24, 30 wall thickness between 1mm to 2mm
Inner straws: OD 10, 11, 12, 14, 16 with various wall thickness from 1mm to 2mm

I found it works best when the difference in straw to tube size was minimal - but this may not hold true for butane torch heating source as its much hotter than the nichrome element i have been using, The 16mm with 1.5mm wall pairs very well with the 12mm straw as there is only about a mm around the straw - the 14mm went well with the 18mm.

The quartz 1mm walled tube transfers the heat very quickly so that is my preferred one at the moment but suspect a 1.5mm may work a little better as its gap between the straw and tube will be that little closer - im going to try and get some as well as 2mm but dont think the straws will fit.

Im on the fence about the inner straw and think my favourite is the OD 12mm glass 1,5mm walled one for a nice long session but the 1mm walled 12mm OD quartz as a close second with a smaller amount and a higher temp for a quick vape plus it has a wider tube so air flow is a bit easier and works well with a pipe or water device. The 1.5mm walled quartz is ok but i somehow prefer the glass one as i think i prefer the slower heat up time for the straw - also the glass once hot does retain the heat more than the quartz so you can take it out of the tube and puff away on it for longer before heating it up again.

Thing i dont think i have mentioned is you can just move the straw further in/out and adjust how much heat it gets as well.

Any bigger than the 18mm outer tube i found it didnt work too well as the gap between the inner straw was too much and the heat from the glass wall didnt heat the incomming air enough. The smaller the tube is the larger surface area in contact with the volume of in comming air.

I've made Cheaponics with this kind of one hitter but I've always found them tricky to use. The one hitter is too thick and somehow either I get close to no vapor or I combust... what's your trick ?
Oh. I am amazed.
I actually use it in the same way as the Vaphit QOQ.
Heat the glass until it starts to shimmer slightly reddish. Just the upper part, where your bowl is.
The draw resistance on my construction is quite harsh.
Not unpleasant, but not free flow either.
I have to admit, I've just used it for the first and only time and it worked fantastically.
But you're right, it is very sluggish. I was amazed at how long I didn't have to reheat.

ED: Maybe it is the flat bottom glas... don't know.

I experienced a high draw restriction as well. Like yours, there's very little air gap between the two parts. It's been a while but maybe I should give it another try...

The one-hitter is now perfect with the longer “more gap” test tube. The cap holder has been slightly modified. Now it is out of the heat. With a little twist, you can grab the heater at the bottom with your fingers to remove and reload it. Unwind the upper spiral to get it back on. It stays pretty cool if you only heat the bowl zone and above.

No grinder, vape budsies! ;) - Love it. (have I mentioned BAKx anywhere???!)

Have ordered a few one hitters. This year my friends birthdays will be terpy.... Cheers. ;)
