Discontinued Boundless Tera

Here are my thoughts on the Tera. The unit I have is about two years old, it has held up well, other than the paint peeling off the battery cover. The unit is solid and seems well built. It is mostly low quality plastic, except for the metallic battery cover. The charging circuit or charging port has a problem; the unit won't charge. At it's age, it still cooks flower same as new.

For me, the Tera works with a bong. I don't like it as hand vape.

It took me a long time to warm up to the Tera. It takes a bit of technique to get it to produce a thick solid steam. Perhaps it is just me, but even now it takes some focus when used. I need to be in the mood for the Tera, and it takes some patience. However, when it starts cooking weed, it is a hell of an air fryer, and it can cook a bowl very quickly. This is a hard hitting vape.

My routine for the Tera is. Start with fresh batteries, and they need to good batteries that match the originals. Start with with a clean WPA; the screen clogs quickly. Clean screen = happy session. Measure the flower; I use a 125ml measuring scoop. Tamp gently, but firmly. Yes, that is contradiction, try to hit that magic perfect spot.

After the vape reaches the desired temperature, I wait. I get far better results allowing some preheating. At 348F, my normal is to wait at least 60 seconds, before taking the first draw. I have had far fewer frustrations getting the Tera to produce, by preheating before the first draw.

I use a stopwatch with this vape. The 5 minute session is short, but the WPA gets very hot when using with a bong. The base of the WPA is mostly metal, and it holds a lot of heat. The Tera can do back to back sessions, but it makes sense to use caution. Excess heat will damage plastic.

Given everything I've read in these last posts, it leaves me wondering what will replace the Tera when it dies? It seems the earliest units were the most reliable, and worked the best. I doubt what I have is first generation. The latest Tera's seem to be plagued with problems.

When it comes to buying vapes, it makes sense to stick with trusted vendors.

So glad I have my Tera as backup. The button on my TM failed; I am using the Tera with a bent Solo stem in the oven and appreciating the vapor difference.
However, as I can no longer see the panel, I have had to develop a plan to assure that I am in the right mode at the right temperature. I like 220.
So, I take the batteries out to store the vape. Putting the batteries in place turns the vape on. I then hold the oven button as needed and wait for the buzzer. I marked the up-temp button and use it to assure that I am up to 220, but I need to avoid accidentally entering quick 3 pulses which turns on concentrate mode (I think). Then it is enjoy, restart the heater if it times out and buzzes, and latter remove the batteries; only stepping into a dark closet if needed.

I kept the last Tera I received. I too only use it with a bong. It has the same defects as the previous 4...... but I take the batteries out of it when I put it away. I pack it fairly tight and set the temp to 400F. It cranks out enough vapor to make me cough! I wish this had been a more reliable vape. BTW the FX+ with a WPA works great also.

The Tera is pain for back to back bong sessions, but rarely do I do more than three. Three back to back bong sessions using the Tera takes dedication. It is hard hitting vape, and often two sessions is quite enough. For all its faults and flaws, the Tera has its place in my daily rotation.

What can replace a Tera? When this one eventually expires, I do not see anything close to replace it.

What I would like to see on the next version Tera is better build quality, vastly improved battery life, and adjustable session times. It would only take minor tweaks to bring the Tera back as an improved powerhouse.

I pretty much replaced mine with an Arizer Solo II. We use it with a Freeze pipe Bong. Works well! We load two wpa and my lady and I get 4 hits each from each adapter at bed time. Been using it for 2 1/2 years now performance has been flawless and still no sign of battery degradation. And it doesn't get hot easily. We use it at 390F. Our session lasts 7-8 minutes ( never timed it really ) and a week's worth of use we still have 63% battery power left! I highly recommend it!

The Venty is what the Tera 2 should be. I can't stand the weird taste that comes out of the Tera, it's a weird metalic taste. The Venty equals the vapor production but taste way more "neutral"

Does the vapor start as soon as you draw using this technique? Usually take a couple of short draws or draw until there is vapor to start the vapor, take a breath to not waste vapor, then start draws after that. You tried that technique? Suppose you do, was the tera as strong as using the technique you used?
Would also suggest drawing as strong as possible as good amount of time as possible to get the strongest vapor. The stronger you draw, the denser the vapor, the stronger the tera.

The Tera is pain for back to back bong sessions, but rarely do I do more than three. Three back to back bong sessions using the Tera takes dedication. It is hard hitting vape, and often two sessions is quite enough. For all its faults and flaws, the Tera has its place in my daily rotation.

You're not going to be able to until the next version. The tera as strong as or way stronger than any other vape desktop or portable. Since you're using a bong, would suggest using the bong dry. The tera will be way stronger that way. Not using the bong dry weakens the strength of the vapor. Usually use the glass that the tera arrives with at 220C rather than a bong because of condensation with a bong and stronger with the glass because of that. Never tried 260C with the glass though that could need a bong will need to try that. You get downvoted talking about this vape or the strength of this vape on vaporents. Bizarre. No portable compares to the strength of the tera. Way stronger despite releasing years ago.

So much love for a device that literally fell apart in my hands in the space of a few months.

"The tera (is) as strong as or way stronger than any other desktop vape or portable"

What?

The Mighty (any version) is streets ahead of the Tera - and far smoother and, dare I say it, more powerful. I have no idea how you reached this conclusion?

For all the love here - if anyone's thinking of buying one (don't) - please see my previous post here (a few pages back) where I have provided photos of this terrible, terrible, vaporizer. Mine is still back in its box, covered in tape and a cracked case. I never dropped it or mishandled it, not even once during the 3 - 4 months that I used it. As the Japanese would say; it's junk - and that's straight out the box. Lost over 130 or 140 euros because of it - and replaced it with a Mighty. I'm well aware there are different versions out there - but the one I bought should never have been allowed to be sold, it's that bad.

The Mighty.... I hate to tell you but I've had just as much trouble with the Mighty as with the Tera. FIVE defective Mighty to match the FIVE defective Tera! So no, it's no better! And as to vapor production, the Tera has the edge there. I still have my last Tera it works fine i just have to take the batteries out of it when I'm done using, it for safety. And yet these weren't even the worst vapes I've owned, the PAX was! Had an OG pax, and it was just a wimpy vapor producer. I gave it away and later tried the Pax 2. On the very first hit, the vapor was so HOT it burned my lip! I'm talking a big blister! So now for outright vapor production in a portable, I use a CFX with a glass mouthpiece made for a Mighty or a WPA and a bong. I've had the CFX for close to 5 years and it still works like new except for somewhat less battery life. This would be an outstanding vape with a different mouthpiece and replaceable battery.
And the plastic used in these vapes is the same as the mighty, medical grade. so the only advantage to the Mighty is your out $200 more than with the Tera....

5 broken Mightys 'and' 5 broken Teras... do you play basketball with them or something?

I was genuinely surprised when I modified the official cooling unit on my Mighty to fit a clone—when I took the soldering iron to it, you could see very thin metal wire buried inside the plastic. I guarantee you, the Tera does not have that kind of plastic, but I'm sure both (and just about all vapes) are what we would call 'medical grade'. It's simply plastic that can withstand 'x' amount of heat, nothing more.

At this time, I currently do not have a tera because the tera broke accidently and started researching to discover vapes that are stronger than the tera. I did not want to buy a vape that was weaker as I have the problem of not being able to get stoned with other portables and desktops after using the tera. I would get unbelievably stoned with the tera, way beyond other vapes I was using or tried.

After doing some research the tera was described by one account as being as strong as a dab and was a daily smoker.

Another account said that the tera was a strong as the newest volcano that released in 2019 and the tera was used with a bong at the top temperatures. That version of the volcano is way stronger than all versions of the discontinued supreme vape according to a couple of accounts. The supreme is stronger than the taroma 360 when used with the tube according to one account and was way stronger than all of the strongest vapes before the volcano according to a couple of accounts. The user did not use the tera with a dry bong . The tera is way stronger when used with a dry bong suggesting the tera is way stronger than that version of the volcano. I used to use the tera with a small basket weave bong and then started using the tera with the glass that the tera arrives with at 220C due to condensation with a bong that weakens the vapor. The tera with the glass is way stronger than with the plastic.

There is some other knowledge I discovered about the strength of the tera yet these are what stand out. Some other stuff I discovered was the tera being way stronger than the dynavaps, the previous volcano, the direct draw vaporizers, etc.
I could not get stoned after using vapes such as the dynavap or plenty after using the tera.

Those that doubt the strength of the tera do not use the tera correctly or use a defective unit. Taking a couple of draws or drawing until there is vapor to start the vapor works well. Can take a breath afterwards to prevent vapor being wasted. The tera will be way stronger using that technique . Still never tried waiting 60 to 120 seconds after reaching temperature. You can draw at whatever speed you want, as draw speed and the amount of time you draw determine the strength of the tera. The stronger you draw, the stronger the tera. Therefore, drawing as strong as possible would be the best way to get stoned.

Well looks like the Tera is dead, it is no longer listed in vapes for sale on theor site.
A new version will probably be announced soon. Based on research and using some of these vapes the tera is way stronger than all of the portables currently selling or discontinued using the same amount at their top temperature such as the venty, bakx, tetra, anvil with the xl bowl, tempest, dynavap and other portables. A new version with quicker charging, better battery time, control of temperature beyond 220C and up to 260C, and the same 0.6g chamber would be an upgrade. Being stronger would be a bonus. The chamber can use beyond 0.6g with tamping depending on density so a chamber than can use beyond 0.6g without tamping would be another bonus.

Are you saying it would still be okay to use plastic that cracks, rendering it useless, and the current plastic that peels off the battery cover after mere months of incredibly gentle, careful, use?

How about they fix that crucial part (making it actually worthy of being sold to the public) before they add all that fancy stuff on your wishlist.

Bonus....? Are you serious?

You may have a V1 or V2 - but go get the V? that I picked up for 150 euros - and then tell me that's unnecessary, as you stare at your completely useless Boundless Tera that you can't possibly use because it's in pieces. (detailed, clear, photos provided on the previous pages of this discussion, if you're new to this thread)

I'd like one that wouldn't catch fire when you put it away.......
And usually, the previous version doesn't just disappear before the new model comes out. This junk of a vape could have been a great vape if they had ever fixed the many problems with it. One of the FIVE I had go bad turned it self on, went to 500F! I just happened to go into the drawer that it was stored in and I could smell it! The batteries were so hot I'm surprised it didn't burst into flames! THREE of the five had this turn itself on issue and the other two had other electronics issues, one of which just plain died. So hopefully they just bring out a new vape altogether as this horror story should have been off the market LONG ago!
So all who are saying how great it is, just consider that you may have a ticking time bomb in your home just waiting to burn it down! I still have my last one I use it then take the batteries out before putting it away!

Yet there are plenty that never had any problems with this vape. This is not any different than any other brand and a batch of defective units yet there seems to be a concentration on these vapes with other brands having defective units. Never have I had the problems that both of you are describing yet have seen problems such as aluminum dust with the newest volcano that I was referring to in a previous post, decaying ventys with firmware errors, buttons that always fail, not being as powerful over time, not working, etc. that are reported with other vapes including the top tier vapes yet these vapes are always recommended, are still popular and get a pass as though there aren't defective units

All vapes could be considered trash and there is no point of buying any of them based on what I have seen reported. The defective units were always replaced and never saw anyone have a problem replacing a defective unit with this vape yet saw reports of problems replacing a defective unit with other brands. A unit being discontinued before a new version or new vape releases is not uncommon. Still want a new version or vape released by boundless that is as strong or stronger since the tera is way stronger than all portables.

I didn't just happen to get a bad one I got FIVE bad units over a period of 1 1/2 years! They even admitted to me that the manufacturer was having problems and they were looking for a new company to make them, so no, it wasn't just a few of us that got these bum vapes! Just because you didn't see it here on the forum doesn't mean it wasn't a big problem! Maybe if it's a major redesign I'd consider one, in the mean time I'll keep taking the batteries out of my flamethrower!

You unfortunately got a couple of defective units the same as those that receive a couple of defective units of the other brands while there are others that don't. This can occur with any of these brands.

It's funny, I've had better luck with cheaper vapes. I had several Mightys fail also, yet I have an Iolite and a Focus Pro both bought in 2016 that still work fine and still get occassional use.
My Boundless CFX however has been a great vape and is almost as strong as the Tera! And I've had that maybe 6 years. Battery is still strong in it too, and it's had a lot of use!

Yet there are reports of defective units with that vape showing that a bunch of defective units can occur with any brand and with any unit. The tera is also way stronger using the same amount.
