The Toad from Morwood

is this thing on?
I received my out and about device some days ago and it is a joy to use outdoors. It's a work of art! Every little detail of it is amazing. I think Dan really is in his own league - it's amazingly crafted all the way.
Functionwise I think I'm going to love this, I am having a great time with it so far. Flavor is great and I like unregulated, the way I use it I'm probably the high heater type. The heater itself is a work of art too.

I thought to take a quick follow up picture. I carry it around every day and while I take care of it, it has been a work horse outside and at home. On this picture it has not been cleaned for a while as you can see with the debris from careless loading. The Toad itself is super forgiving to wear. Absolutely stunning device! 12/10 from me and I mean it.

Oh I remember your Toad ! It was in batch 3 ? It looks like a sunset with a few clouds ? It ended up in my choices, but the one with a kind of Japanese fish was my first pick in that batch. But wasn’t lucky with any of my choices so I ended up being in next batch :bang:
Seeing the date of the post you refer too, I realize I have had mine for quite a while too and have never cleaned it once
shame on me, I will have to go through the process but time goes by so fast

That is a batch 3 Toad with an abalone button. Makes me wonder if the last batches still had abalone?

I never did a full dissambly, just a coating with Dan's wax here and there. Not much maintenance with these, I love it. At one point I had some specs of herb on the brass ring and a sudden decline in performance - that ring needs to be clean and I only had to clean it one time in these years

Long time FC lurker, first time posting.

I switched from combusting to vaping about a year ago and at the time used this forum to research devices. It was an invaluable source that led me to purchasing a Firewood 9, which I love. Since then I actively avoided this site in an attempt to limit my device desire.

However, last week I came across a picture of the Toad on Reddit and a fire was lit in my soul. Despite a vein attempt in ignoring said fire, I've now convinced myself I need one of Dan's devices in my life.

Having just finished reading most of this thread, I understand that won't be happening anytime soon but I am prepared to wait. I do find it easier to exercise the necessary patience if I go into something with a realistic expectation.

So, I was hoping someone here could give me an idea of how long it's been taking from being added to the wait list to getting a Toad in hand?

Thanks and happy puffing.

2-3 years is a reasonable expectation, possibly over 3 years, though you could get lucky and get selected in a Toad lottery (where you throw your name in the hat for duplicates and designs everybody in a given batch passed on) to have a shortened timeline. I signed up in Novermber 2023 and my batch hasn’t come up yet, and anybody signing up now will likely have to wait even longer between signing up and being selected for a batch. Oh, and manufacture of the device also takes awhile, but I haven’t experienced that yet myself – from what I’ve seen, it’s usually 6+ months between payment and actual receipt of product.

Thanks @lapis, appreciate the info. Little bit longer than I'd thought, but I can work with that time frame.

Just messaged Dan to get on the wait list. Hopefully he's still taking names.

I'll turn 50 in three years and this would be a magic milestone birthday present for myself!
3 years sounds right to me too, but I managed to get lucky with a lottery last year. Usually there’s about 70-100 folks throwing in for each of the available toads, so your odds aren’t terrible, especially if you enter for a few styles!

Hope you’re able to snag one by your birthday!

Dropping in to give a plug for the low heater. It’s great.

I’ve been revisiting the low heater for the past month or so. The 7-second preheat Dan recommends is a great start from cold, after which I draw as slowly as possible. In my case, that's about 25-30 secs.

I can pull clouds but the flavor is the point. Drawing so slow, you can taste the flavors changing mid-stream. With a mindful ritual, it’s a really satisfying focus. After 4 draws, I'm solidly lifted. Maybe it's the oxygen deprivation.

For me, the session and signature are like a Vapman's battery-powered, convection-driven cousin. You build up to it but the high you get is bright, clean, and robust. I mean, check out this post I made, lol.

Hell ya! I said not to long ago that I was using my low a lot more getting it dialed in. That wax a couple months ago.
You describe it well and for these reasons the Toad with the low heater is my favorite! And that's beating out a few high end vapes!
It just seems when I use it this way I say.....Damn! That is so good!

For me the better performance of the low or high heater depends a lot on the moisture of the herb. I have a strain which is quite dry, that one is so much easier to handle with the low heater for example.

For me, flower humidity is THE key parameter...

You can have the best vaporizer in the world (we're on the right thread here)... if your flowers have an unbalanced humidity level... there's not much you can do...

The heaters are on full blast for 4-5 months here in Quebec... then it gets hot in the summer...
I only discovered this three years ago...
Well, this year, I decided to buy a mini electric wine cooler... in addition to humidifier bags...

It was depressing to have great vaporizers... but flowers that turned to powder after a day and a half or two!

One of the weak points of Dan's vaporizers is that, unfortunately, he doesn't turn shit into gold...
