I've had some ups and downs with this new vape. When functioning properly, it delivers a very enjoyable session with lots of cool tasty vapor.
My unit has been playing games, and I'm scheduling its trip back to the service department. Half the time, when activated, the unit switches from green to blue on its own. This occurs at various time intervals and in both on-demand and session mode. There have also been 2 occasions where it has combusted the bowl, with both times occurring right after a premature shut off and restart. I'm talking burnt on top and a plume of smoke coming from the mouthpiece.
In both situations, the bowl was half packed and set on 2. I agree with the previous posts, that a convection unit prefers an open pack with little tamping to allow air to circulate through the packed herb. I usually only tamp enough to even out the top.
So anyway, as I've learned in the past, always have a good backup. Tinymight to the rescue. And let's see how she runs after coming back from service. I will say that CS has been very responsive and supportive.
Sorry for your experience, especially the combusting part...
It sounds like a failing temp sensor (seems to be one of the common mis-haps). I'm sure you'll get great service.
Truth be told, we've had 2 Series 1's and 2 Series 2's, every one has been back for repair at least once. We use them a lot, like many pots per day.
Through some trepidation, I've come to find good experience every time there's been a return, that's saying a lot for how hard they are trying. (I've written about all these rma's in this thread)
My approach to, and feelings about this company and device are still about it being a fledgling, still having some issues to work through. I know it's been some years now (covid didn't help!) but Tafee is still a very small company.
The product is great, I love it, and it has only improved over time. To date, I'm very happy to support the effort.
But I caution others, this is not an economy vape, by any means!
