Discontinued Zion vaporizer

OK, so I must admit I'm not a fan of the hemp fiber as a filter yet. Is it just me or does it significantly detract from the vapor volume per hit (condensing losses in the fiber) ?

Use less and make it wispy. When I do filter, if I can feel the restriction, I've used too much. This type of usage also means it gets ready to use quicker since there isn't a whole lot of filter in there to begin with.

Re: filter -- is everyone packing it between green and screen? I sandwiched my filter between two screens in the stem so I'd keep down on the green flecks in it.

Of course, I then put in a Zion screen filled with a SS pad from another company's product. WOW, I'm livin the dream. The taste using this SS pad is by far my favorite way I've consumed this oil so far. I've tried this batch in my w9 hercules and my nectar collector (my two favorite flavor saver's), but the Zion provided a whole new taste. Maybe it's just that some flavor comes across differently while it's conducting, but without conduction I'm noticing more sweet flavors (some different terps) than usual.

Want to hear an honest statement? Since I got my Zion, I haven't used a true desktop vape. Not once..no Evo or Herbalizer. I think i have only used the Supreme 3, VC, VM, and FF.

Not saying it has permanently replaced them the Evo or Herbie but this just is one hell of a vape.

Personally, I would think that failures early on are less of a worry, (especially when you know who will be dealing with them) and in many ways, I kind of expect them.

I am certainly not worried. Myself & the rest of the beta Z-team have been using Zions heavily for many, many months, with very few issues resulting from anything other than user error.

Anyway, this is what the warranty is for. RBT will take care of them & set things straight.

Do or die seems pretty strong!

But RBT certainly isn't afraid of issuing refunds.

Anyway, this is a train journey after all, and I'm yet to ride a bump free track . . .

. . . . man, would that be dull! ;)

Forgive me because I can't recall off hand, but were there problems with Beta units at all? I recall you and @Shitsnack I think sending them back? Just don't remember the specifics, could be totally wrong

While I understand what you're saying, I think it's useful to consider the perspective of those who have preordered and not received units. With significant delays and now some units failing, it's much easier to have a positive outlook if you have a unit already. He'll need to deal with the failures quickly and effectively and not let it significantly delay production, or I would expect a significant amount of refund requests to start rolling in. If he proves that failures won't throw a wrench into anything, then of course I wouldn't expect much to change. I agree with the sentiment that the occasional bump in the road makes things interesting, but I'm really hoping that there aren't any more big bumps with the Zion. I think most of the preorders have gotten their fill at this point, so hopefully we can trade that for a bit of boring :)

To be honest, three failures so quickly is a bit scary. RBT is going to have to prove that he can weather the storm here, or I (and others, I'm guessing) will have to seriously consider canceling my order. Do or die time, it seems.

I'm sorry but I don't think there has been a product launched in the history of man that didn't have a couple defected units at the start.

When I get a fresh load of LSD(lemon sour diesel) in a stem and then take my first few hits it is beyond intense. Its as if I'm that kid in "honey I shrunk the kids" movie who is shrunken and been picked up by that bee and dropped in that flower and the pollen was so big and thick and huge. God damn I'm tore up from the floor up. But seriously the flavor I was told last night was overwhelming. The fresh flower taste was so strong it's all they could taste for a long while after. And I must admit it is intensely wonderful. And the lower temps in Marilyn are so perfect for this.

Haha! Loving your 'Honey I shrunk the kids' description right there @HD Springer! And I'm totally with you man, this thing is a sure fire ticket to flavor town! The intensity of the flavor achievable in the Zion imo, truly is top notch. And honestly, it is as good, if not the very best that I have ever experienced from any device.

If you want to know what your herb really tastes like - stick it in a Zion

You are the judge & the jury - the Zion IS the executioner!

You are most certainly forgiven! However, other than an issue with the potentiometer in @pakalolo's device, I believe that all other failures were down to user error - and this was generally in the form of physical damage caused as a result of the Zion being dropped or knocked to the floor from a height.
- This was definitely the case with @Shit Snacks unit, but personally, I have never had the need to send Johnny (Beta#5) back to the lab for repairs.

And Vyvyan is thankfully displaying no desire to return to the womb either . . . .

Although failures are certainly disappointing, and aften an inconvenience for the user (always have a backup!), I know that RBT will stand behind his creation 100% and he will ensure that nobody loses out.

And remember people, the KISS ethics which have always been at the core of this amazing design means that whatever has gone wrong will be relatively easy for RBT to diagnose & fix.

This is not rocket science, it's just the evil genius that is RBT design.

It is why I am here.

Nothing but love . . .

I don't think there are that many possible issues with the Zion. We can have:

1) user error - most common as there's a minimum of technique to develop
2) problem with the potentiometer - apparently behind two of the latest reports
3) bad contact on the battery tabs - solved by bending the tabs by hand
4) female GonG break - it's glass so it can break on impact
5) internal heater damage - can happen after a large impact

I've only experienced (3) and it was very frightening at first, I thought Ashton was dead! I held the button and nothing was happening, similar to one of the last reports. I also have a pair of cells that doesn't work in Ashton but works in Fairchild, the latter having improved production-level tabs.

I have to admit that the comments on how pure and strong the flavor on this device is what attracts me the most, and I have the following question, I don't know if it has been asked before.
Have any of the Beta testers tried a Firefly before? And if you have, how would you rate the vapor flavor compared to the Zion.
Thanks.

Hey @mestizo :)

Sorry - not me. I have used rather a lot of vaporizers over the years, however, the Firefly is not among them.

But I am pretty sure that there are others in the team who can provide some subjective insight on this particular pair-off . . . .

Aaaaaand in goes a fresh stem:

:)

Wishing you all happy Sundaze!

I have tried the FF and IMO it is not even close. Maybe I didn't "get" the technique but I didn't need to "get it" with my first meeting with Loki.

On another note , I brought Loki's sister on a weekend road trip with me. This thing is amazing! I got a few rips that I could not believe we're not combusted. It seemed like I could not blow out all of the vapor in one exhale.
