Looking forward to this weekend. Hoping to do some comparison testing.:science:

Oooh yeah, a weekend sure to remember... Well, if you'll be able to , after this face-melting perspective-shifting knee-bucklin Zion train has gotcha.. :ko::o:brow:
See, I already forgot about the GH ... Umm..sorry :razz:
Of course it's great to have that one too. But I gotta admit, I have a vague feeling the Z is gonna win in the long run... Durability and @Shit Snacks: V E R S A... :D

At least I got VAS - waiting for both of them :D

Nice pic @nkotb - GH leaning on the Zion? Catching it's breath perhaps? Heh! I'm saying nothing ;)

Classic shot.

My 2014 Ti pre-order is somewhere or other in the long, long line . . . and I'm pretty sure that it'll be very nice someday.

Anyway, before receiving production Zion in the form of the delectable Vyvyan, I had been enjoying the convenience of the innovative DynaVap in conjunction with the DynaStash - which I found to be proving great for those quick 'grab & go' situations. So long as you have that torch lighter to hand of course, you're all set for a multitude of impressive micro-doses & maintenance hits when out & about, & on the move. Weather permitting.

Good times.

And then in strolls Vyv, imo, the ultimate in 'the complete package'. Boasting herb storage, stir-stick & generally enough power for a days worth of desktop quality vapor production - all on-board & ready to go at the press of a button. Seriously guys, with that rugged yet beautiful and inconspicuous chunk of amazing maple in my hand, I feel confident, empowered, and secure in my ability to medicate to an extremely high standard at anytime while out & about adventuring in the wilderness ;)

In fact, I actually don't think that I own another vaporizer that is so well equipped in this respect. All of my other portables require additional items to function to such a full extent.

DynaVap was my first real experience of anything coming close to this type of thing for me in the vape world. But I know that there are probably others out there . . .

Now I know that the Zion may seem like a bit of a handful for some - and I mean that in more ways than one. However, once you get a grip, there's really nothing more to do but let the good times rrrrrip! :ko:

So a buddy that is a combuster tried Zion tonight.
He has tried my solo and fw3.
Two weeks ago he tried my fw3 along with another friend that had never tried a vaporizer.
The newbie made a comment about just having to trust that you're getting vapor, as he struggled with the fw3, while me and friend 1 blew clouds.
Tonight after friend 1 exhaled his first hit from Zion he said, well you don't have to trust you're getting vapor with this one, it leaves no doubt!
I didn't know what he meant, then he reminded me of friend 2 struggling to get a hit 2 weeks ago.

It's such a simple device.
So well thought out, down to the stir stick!
Hell the stir stick is more functional than some of my early vaporizers!

@nkotb looking forward to your comparison, enjoy your weekend!
I'd be jealous, if I weren't cuddling my Zion right now.

Quick question and sorry if it was answered already but I couldn't find it anywhere in this thread or the FAQ. If I were to preorder a Zion could I add a lifetime warranty at a later date or does it have to be with the initial purchase?
Hey man, welcome to the forum! :)
I'd assume you could add it later... But to be sure, you better drop RBT a line via his contact form: http://www.rastabuddhatao.net/faq-contact-us

Enjoy the ride!

I wanted to keep the surprise until it really happened, and we thought at some point that it was really compromised... He somehow got lost in transit, slept one month in a cold warehouse, had a really rough ride and got beaten hard in the process, but he finally showed up!

Ashton invited his brother, Fairchild, to come live with us at our place on the Old Continent. Ashton can be rude to me at times, I mentionned it in the past, but I just had my first conversation with his little brother and suddenly it struck me:

Not sure if anyone else has picked up on this but to me at least, my goode ol' Johnny Zion always looks like he's got the biggest & happiest yomping grin on his face ever :D Which just makes me wanna feed him nice things :)

But yesterday while introducing him to a friend who dropped by, we were suddenly reminded of another beloved and happy little fellow who likes to munch munch munch just like my boy . . .

Here's Johnny . . .

Reading through the thread, I came across this.
Too hilarious to pass up, so I'll bring it back around again.

Humor helps with the wait.

But I like it!
So we go for a 2 hour drive to meet a friend for lunch, and a 2 hour drive back. Lets bring Zion, thinks I... Load up stash container, spare batteries, etc. All great. I know I changed loads somewhere on the way there. So after lunch we go for coffee. I go to refill Baby and all is well. After coffee I might as well load a stem for the 2 hours home - and the stir stick is missing! And the setscrew for the dial falls out. So I'm digging around and find the set screw, but no stir stick - futhermucker! I have some welding rod at home I can tweak... but I mean really? I'm usually not silly enough to simply drop it... Anyways...

I get home and the stir stick is on top of the abv container. So how the heck did I change loads earlier? I usually need to scrape more, and even the last load was simply point and blow and it came out in a big plug. I'm thinking I've not been keeping the herb in the stem quite long enough, until today when it wasn't quite as convenient as usual to swap loads. So I'm gonna keep going for a few more draws past where I've been stopping (as if I can really tell when *that* is...) and see what happens.

I keep waiting for the lid of the stash container to come out when I really don't want that to happen, and I'm pleased to report I've had absolutely zero incidents of dumped herbage to report.

The only negative comment I have to make is that glass gets dirty quickly. I've only got a stem or two left that isn't a nice, dark brown. So once I clean them I'll likely start with the degummed hemp fiber filter.

Umm, roger, over.

Can't edit above, but want to add that another vet friend in Canada desperately requires a Zion fix. Her first task is to read the entire thread.

It'll be shipping to Washington State, where I will wander over and pick it up, and then mail it onwards. If anyone else in Canukistan is stuck in the same boat let me know and I'll offer to be the mule. It's a whopping 30 minutes from the house, and costs me $5 cdn for them to hold the package.

I love it when my stems collect all that golden goo. I think it was TKW who first mentioned the push the screen through the stem to collect all that goo process. Then push the screen to the edge of the stem crank Marilyn to max pre heat for a few seconds then get a hit that made my grandma friend to have to sit down(among other things). She didn't believe me when I told her she better take it easy with that hit. And when your fiber filter fills with that goo be sure to hit it too. It's to die for!

I started using the stash spot, and as @VegNVape has reported, it definitely isn't smelly proof!
I haven't had any lid mishaps either.
Holds enough for the day, makes for one less item to carry.

My inaugural stem got caked with abv pretty quick, with too fine of grind.
I started using screens basket style and back them up with a pinch of hemp fiber, backed up with maybe a 1/2" screen.
My stems are still golden gooed up, but now are abv free!
I change out the hemp fiber (and vape it) and clean screens, looking like it's gonna be weekly, with 3 stems in rotation.
I didn't clean the glass stems yet, except for the one with abv.

Nice method @HD Springer & TKW!
I'll give my gooed up stems the screen push method next time I clean!
Sounds like a perfect nightcap!

I did not receive the stash spot lid, so I found the smallest silicon "wax" container fits really well in its spot. This would help to solve the odor issue methinks. Funny thing is, I have the hardest time trying to place anything into the stash container. Each time I try, the bowl ends up filled and I just get happier! Damn! what a curse. I might post a pic of Irene with her silicon implants, but don't hold yer breath. Go ZION!

Temp OT warning!

OK, so I must admit I'm not a fan of the hemp fiber as a filter yet. Is it just me or does it significantly detract from the vapor volume per hit (condensing losses in the fiber) ?

It's a robbing Peter to pay Paul scenario, for me, and while I do love to pay Paul, I'm not sure it's worth it for me.

What I do really like the hemp fiber for is cleaning those gooey Zion stems! (there, saved the post!)

Paired with bamboo skewers the hemp fiber makes great custom q tips that when the iso fully evaporates are nearly as good as the gunked up filter balls.

I use my hemp fiber in my water pieces, and it keeps hen SIGNIFICANTLY cleaner. On the other hand, I'm not convinced on using fiber with the stock stem - I have one fiber'd stem, and I use it the least.

Edit: whoops, b2b - sorry mods. I was so Zioned out, I thought I'd been writing this post in edit mode of the last post. :ko:

I don't really filter. I more or less collect. I try not to put the filter completely across the whole width of the stem. I put it about an inch or 2 from the end of the stem. I'm not trying to filter necessarily.
