Just used a vapor pen for the first time. Sleek little thing, unassuming (it says it's an 'Atmos') So why is the whole earth expanding?

I just blew an ant off my laptop. I'm outside on the rapidly fraying but still gloriously colorful Yucatan hammock. I swing lightly here, the headphones pouring into my ears the Beach Boys "good good vibrations". I am in the lovely state of solid inertness. I carefully cover my body with symmetrical folds of the loose netting and stare at the trees and the blue sky and the white puffy clouds (filled out with a cool delightful gray) Funny, someone (I think an artist) from the vapor forum talks about being high as "getting cloudy". So I am staring. This is place, a day, to explore. I notice things. The rift of blue along the lacy edges of the clouds, the curious holding pattern of the tiny winged (wing-ed) insect, the robin that just swooped down for something on the grass. I think I know why some people have . a strong devotion to the marijuana plant. Whoopi Goldberg can refer to her vapo pen as 'Sippy', so familiar, so loyal, so close a friend does an intoxicant become. It delivers in vitro happiness; you become it, it becomes you. It's deeply personal because you take it into your body, you experience it through your body. Finally, it's a sweet plant. It's alive and green and beautiful, absolutely perfect in its own plant-nature. Oh silly! Just as I am. I'm absolutely perfect in my own person-nature. And you know what is epic? I have a trampoline in my backyard. I'm going to jump on it right now. No one should withhold this joy from any other human being. I'm just smiling, smiling, smiling. There never was a gray day. When insects are made of gold and clouds of gossamer silk and droplets of water are diamonds and plants are emeralds, rubies, saphhires, when a summer breeze is infinitely soft and there is simply nothing left to do... I'd call that Heaven. But it's just ordinary time. Hah Ordinary! How funny! When did I make up THAT concept?

It is July 10, 2014. Note to myself: first time vape. I thought I might express it here... Oh oh gotta go. Bee wants me to look at him and then I'll dance and jump. It really feels like the first time (Foreigner, I think).

Dude, i know what your talking about.. i often go to the aliens to restore my vapor hymen so i can experience that first feeling again and again.. :D others do t-breaks so it can heal back .. :D
Eek, I'm a girl. But I noticed that male symbol. Does that make me a cross-texter? I hope I can get a selfie of me on the tramp posted eventually.
Anyway, what's t-breaks? (I do like the idea of alienrestoration)

May I please have some of whatever you are vaping;)

I would so share. But I'm kind of far away from Seattle....

Someone gave me a trophy! What did I do for that? But better yet, what do I get? I think I'm supposed to post another message. Ok, here's my message: "message".
Sometimes doesn't everything just seem.....NEW?? Like, I don't think I know anything. So just be empty, ok and let the world pour in. Cascades of sound, laughing under it. Happy, happy, burble burble. Sit yourself down like a crazy crooked smiled one year old. YOu're just beginning and it's all Good.

Is the manic depressive itself manic depressive?

In that case, vape another one for me!:D

You just gave me a great excuse to do so! BRB

Welcome, and try not to spill.
Grokking...perfect. All strangers in a strange land.

Background: I made my user name 'samantabha' because it is the name of a Buddhist saint. I once lived in a Zen temple where the ruthless monks woke us up at 4:30 am with the sound of an enormous gong bouncing off the Catskill mountains. Dragged out of bed into the chill air - for what? You're forced to fixate on one spot, follow their stupid rules, eat their meager food (quickly and quietly or you'll be reprimanded, maybe beaten) out of Japanese bowls, bow, bow, bow, chant, chant. And always, there is the Wall. This is where you stare at yourself, looking for that nothing at all that somehow speaks, sees and hears. Isn't it wierd? You do all kinds of things all day, but you never really know who does them. We can't just be what we think we are, right? I went to that place to try to find myself and I began to hate it. I guess because I hated myself. God, I would go to my room (with a ceiling filled with black flies that I pictured killing one by one) and just tear myself apart, just cry. WHAT is the meaning of life? What is the big truth? I mean, it's just impossible that we're here. I can't figure it out, I'm at the end of my patience, my mind, so what is my thought? Go to sleep with a book of sutras on my chest and maybe when I wake up the truth will have absorbed into me, osmotically. I guess it was the power of suggestion that did it, that I told my brain to go and fetch a truth. Because for one moment when I awoke, it was like the brightness of everything had poured through a keyhole. How much information can a computer chip or a T-1 fiber hold? In a flash of a micro-second something is understood - though it takes much more time, of course, to fully understand it. No beginning and no end, the only true substance pure Love and Intelligence. But curling through it endlessly, a vortex of darkness, is all the braided conditioned thoughts, one causing another, thought to action, action to thought, millions, billions in a chain that goes on forever, that seems to keep us imprisoned, but really doesn't. I call it the "smokescreen". Because it just obscures our innate, true, delicious, wonderful, natural freedom.
I'm glad I am. Because how could it be otherwise?
Sam I Am.

In that case, vape another one for me!

Edit - t-break = tolerance break so even us heavy users can get to where you are;)
Ahhh, thanks! You're so sweet to explain this. I'm rather unfamiliar. How long do you have to t-break? I go on juice fasts sometimes (fresh fruits and veggies) and that really helps to reset my body back to healthy. Oh, speaking of, I just read that eating mangoes before lighting up can make the highs come on faster and more intense. I think I should try a juice fast in conjunction with this.

Samantabha, are you ready for a Zen temple joke?
So Sam goes to the Zen temple where the rule is you can only speak once every 3 years and you can only utter two words. OK. after 3 years the "main Monk" meets Sam who says "work grueling ". 3 years go by and they meet again and Sam says "food cold". Another 3 years pass and Sam says " bed hard". Another 3 years pass and Sam informs the monk that she is leaving the temple. The monk responds, "it doesn't surprise me, since you got here you've done nothing but complain".
Enjoy the vaping and today

Wow, if that's your reaction to the Atmos - I can't wait to read your posts after you've tried a desktop! ;) :D

Welcome to FC @samantabha

Thanks Seren! I would really like a 'desktop'. That pen thing actually doesn't work very well. I have coax it out and it doesn't seem as efficient as it could be. What do you recommend?

If you want to stick with an oil pen you really can't go wrong with any of the w9 tech products.

Or for a little stealthier IMO but not quite as nice as some of the w9 tech stuff would be the dabbler or the ghost pen by dr dabber. They are both great options I own a ghost pen and love the thing, both the dabbler and ghost pen have threads you can read through as well

The Arizer Solo gets high marks from most owners. It's easy to use and great quality for the price.
There are better vapes but they also can cost a lot more.
Check out the Arizer Solo thread and read up on it.

Seventh Floor desktops (Silver Surfer and Da Buddha) are solid and you can get them reasonably priced. Check out MassDrop for really good deals on those, if you have the time to wait. Or buy directly from seventh floor and get a reclaimed unit (usually has a speckle in the paint job or tooling marks that don't affect the usability) and get a good deal that way. Best value for solid construction, in my opinion. Just have to be good to the glass (don't bang it around, clean it regularly, and have a landing pad). I've never had a problem, myself.

I do not recommend The Dragon Lite or the Gpen, they are variable in quality and at best an experiment best not made with your health. There are several very quality other vapes out there and if you have the scratch I would recommend investing in the Herbalizer because that thing "does it all" (not really, but it's beastly versatile) and from what the reviews and users say it's the bee's knees. It can give you both bag and whip experiences with one unit and DOES IT WELL (which is, wow!)and, I am still smitten with the whole "designed by an Nasa engineer" tagline. Bud, the Vape Critic, has a very high opinion and he really has the experience to base that opinion on.

I like my DaBuddha, I like my DV, I hope you find something you like. :) Welcome to FC!

Great enthusiasium!

With the Solo you can mix the wax in with the herb. I don't like the taste of the wax, so the herb masks the taste of the wax. The Solo gives your cannabis a good flavor. You can put a little wax in a bit of cotton too, and vape away. It's perfect for the beginning vapist and very easy on the herb. It is a very economical and a versatile unit to own.

Welcome aboard.

Alas, I hate to burst your bubble, but if you have only tried the Atmos, you are still in fact a Vapor Virgin! Not to worry though, I'm sure plenty of members here would love to help you overcome that! :D

I've no experience with pens - so can't make any recommendations there I'm afraid. But, as others have suggested, the Solo may just be what you're looking for - to start you off on your beautiful journey to true vaporisation. Yep, I can see you now, solo in hand, trampoline underfoot, flying high ......

Happy exploring  :peace:

Your response rocks. Probably my experience was also affected by my inbibing 2 dropperfuls of watermelon elixir (from 3D in Denver) prior to the pen. Those were only 10 mg a piece, but I've been known to have a low tolerance. So yes, most likely the Atmos wasn't particularly effective in and of itself. Now I'm really charged to try one of the other vapor delivery methods that you and others here are recommending. My only other experience (it wasn't intense enough to send me over to the place I was yesterday because I think I was focusing more on just having a fun social experience) with vape was at a Toronto vapor lounge a couple years ago (I think it was Vapor Central - I met an very valuable social activist contact there; missed Sean Lennon's appearance though...). We used one of the table top units. Even though I didn't go very far with it, I liked how mellow the ingestion was. It blew me away that I didn't go off on one of my usual hacking coughs. It seems like a much more healthy alternative.

Atmos = combustion. Sorry to be a downer but you are most likely feeling this way from smoking an electric pipe. Imagine how happy you would be after a Solo session!
lol - thanks. I'm ok with my illusions being pierced :) I'm glad to know that the vista is brighter (!)

Just as an addendum...so last night my boyfriend and I were heading to a concert, so we thought we should follow up smoke with 2 pieces of chocolate (StarBuds/Denver). A mistake. I ended up with my hoodie pulled over my forehead, having just completed a scathing review of the band (Led Zeppelin tribute with three women) and deciding that it was extremely embarrassing to be seen with Wisconsinites trying to dance. These edibles can be unpredictable and really knock you out, I'm finding. The high fat content of chocolate I think is the culprit. It's a catalyst for higher absorption (I'd really like to study the biochemistry of this) from what I understand. I know the NYC reporter, Maureen Dowd, publicized her bad trip with a chocolate edible. I can't refute her experience off-hand, because the first time I tried it I had some of the same. In my case I made the mistake of deciding to finish off the rest of the bar after it had melted (and become nearly an unrecognizable lump after driving how many hours through Nebraska). In about twenty minutes after ingestion (this was after no sleep all night and nothing else to eat) I realized that my contact with reality had become severely circumscribed. Thankfully I was safely at home and would not need to drive a car until evening because the limits of my mind contracted into a small intensely self-questioning space where most thoughts became unconnected to each other and where my body went almost catatonic. I felt like the Rain Man, just babbling one thing over and over. I could barely walk, could definitely not think and came finally to the conclusion that, after asking who am I over and over again, I was simply a bundle of depression and anxiety. Nothing more to be noted. Nothing pleasant. The good thing was that I knew it was just a bad trip and that the effects would eventually wear off, so I took a nap. When I woke up finally I felt excellent. I ended up having a fantastic day, with a real smooth happy buzz that went on for hours. But I had to go through some hell to get there.
I know this is a little off-topic, but I can't help expressing that some of these edible enhancements can get out of control!

samantabha,
I started with a cheapo vape pen too but you might consider a modified technique to get some vaporization. I assume it has a heat coil like mine. After using , if you have no herb left that is light brown/ dark brown and it is all "ashes", then it has combusted. You can try cycling it on/off/on/off in short bursts to keep the temp below combustion level. Experiment a little.
I quickly moved up to a real vaporizer and it is great!!!

Yes, edibles can be a "trip". With vaping buds you get almost immediate feedback as to the effect, but not so with edibles. Also, some edibles had WAY less THC than advertised and some had what they claimed. This led to some wrong dosages. Folks did a "supposed" 5 dose chunk and got nothing and then did a real 5 dose and were flying (too) high. Edibles also seem to effect people very differently.

I'm in MN. Sounds like you did a run to CO like I did. My choc bar survived Nebraska but I'm saving it for right occasion . We need a "canna-bus" for Midwest folks to visit CO :)

FYI, July 26,27 there is a Cannabis Cup event in Clio, Michigan. Not sure where you are in Wisc but that could be interesting if close???

Oooooh, I do want to go. I was checking out the event on High Times a couple days ago actually. I would prefer the Seattle event because it's freshly legal there of course, but another trip out west (even longer distance wise) seems a bit daunting at this point. I have another trip to Denver scheduled for the end of September so I'm trying to be careful about how I spend my time and $$. I live in Waukesha, just west of Milwaukee. My dream trip idea was: take the ferry from Milwaukee to Muskegon, travel around the 'mitten' up to Traverse City and then around and down eventually to the Flint area. Lake Michigan is stunning on the northwest coast of Michigan and to climb the Great Bear sand dune with my mind properly attuned to fully appreciate would be fantastic. If I had a few more days off work, I'd explore Lake Huron and drive on to Toronto to visit friends and vapor lounges. But I am dreaming......
Are you from Minneapolis/St. Paul area? We encountered plenty of Minnesotans on the way to Colorado. Also, Illinois, Wisconsin (we found Wisconsinites EVERYWHERE!), Iowa, etc. I wrote a little story after our trip to Colorado about the symbolic significance of the Oregon Trail and the Platte River to modern times: we are the 'pot pioneers' blazing the THC Trail which just happens to be Hwy 80 and the same route the wagon trains took....
I love your idea about a "Canna Bus". Hmmmm....is there an alternate career in my future? Fitting that with my latter thought, maybe several buses, circle the wagons overnight, post a sentry around the campfire - this has got potential! lol. But seriously, I would so go for a fun bus adventure with like-minded people on a purposeful run.
When did you go to Colorado? We were there 2 weeks ago. The variety of stuff is amazing to me. I was used to the dusty nondescript plastic baggies and here were beautiful, whole, sticky buds. The people at the dispensaries we visited were great. I wrote to 3D (on Brighton in Denver) to tell them about the really positive experience I had there. I'm overall hopeful and excited for the nation that so many states are poised to legalize either recreational or medical. I'm pretty pessimistic about Wisconsin though; with the criminal anti-everything-good Scott Walker in office (hope I'm not offending any political sensibilities) and the large contingent of conservatives around here, I'm not expecting much to happen in the next few years. I can just see it; the rest of the nation goes green. Wisconsin sticks to stalwart. Stupid! And we used to have a fairly progressive government and even drinking laws set to age 18 (people from Minnesota would cross to Hudson to drink I hear).
About the pen (I know, I talk a lot - I apologize!), I don't think my Atmos is working all that well. I don't see it burn very efficiently, given the standards you're talking about. What kind of real vaporizer do you have? I do think it will be my next major purchase.
Nice talking to you....:)

If ever you are coming to TO & you need a 'local', I'm your guide - I was a cabbie in TO in the '60s and a coffee-house operator in Yorkville, an LSD guide & weed missionary at the same time, and I'm still mobile due to RSO!
Plus: While I'm not the pro, for my money, the SOLO by Arizer(Canadian-made) is the best for taste & perfect for one, or two persons to share, but it is NOT (in my mind) a party unit!

I hope I hear from you! Peace Light Love Truth i am adavida

@Hi @krusht !! Peace, love and light to you too :) So you liked my little post. Let me tell you, it came straight from the heart. In the interest of not imposing Too Much Information, I won't go on and on about other experiences right now. But there really is a kind of soul-explosion you can attain to. Mine used to come from very intensive meditation. Now I rely more on good herb (it can be done on the run). A combination of both is probably the best. Actually, in the story that I related above, I had done sitting meditation, taken 20 mg of Dixie Elixir THC drops and THEN vaped. Also, the quality was Colorado, freshly purchased. By assembling these proper conditions and by stopping time (my metaphor for following sound through motionless-as-possible awareness) I could get to the place I wanted to be. My thought is that being stoned opens up what really is. It's up to us to "get back to the garden"
