Yeah I've had a Pax since august too, it was my 24/7 vape for four months and I've had very little issues. Didn't have to get the new MP, didn't need the lube, it just works.

I let it get really dirty too, I basically only cleaned when it wasn't working right. But now that I have the FV doing most of my home sesh's, I keep the Pax clean for trips and adventures. Taste is good with a clean Pax imo, and there's nothing that can touch it's power vs. size, it's a total pocket rocket!

I clean mine once a week and I use it a lot, I actually only use a pax right now. I am what I consider a heavy user. It may seem tough to learn, but once you get the hang of it its seriously so easy, and like bob said
I've had mine just over a month and found cleaning it every few days seems to work a treat. Every time i've thought i've had an issue, a good clean has sorted it right out. It only takes a few minutes to clean and it's nice having it all shiny afterwards. And, uh, i quite like having a little mission/ritual to do. Makes it easier to replace the ritual of skinning up.
its somewhat satisfying getting the pax nice and new feeling. I'll do a video tomorrow of how I got my latch like new in under 30 seconds. I havent actually lubed my newest pax yet, I'll make sure my pax temp light becomes an issue before doing the video so you can see the actual results. It worked 100% of the time after I clean it. ( Incase some of you have noticed a contradiction in the last two sentences, I am referring to a previous pax that I have sense returned for battery issues )
Yeah, those screens are a pain in the ass. I'm not exactly sure what happens, but they do just not want to stay put after some time. I think you're right about the screen edge wearing down because new ones fit snug. I've thought about taking a Dremmel, very lightly, to the inside of the oven on the vapor tube side so that there is some texture for the screen to grab onto on that side. I'm hoping that this will do the trick.
The trouble that you are having can probably be fixed by flattening the screen, holding the very tip of the screen between your fingers, and flicking the screen a bunch of times until its lightly bends on the end, then I turn it around and do the same. I hold it as far down the screen as possible to get as little of a bend in the screen as possible. I use a dremmel on my screen, I picked up cleaning wire brushes for the dremmel and it gets them shinney new. I can do a quick video for screen restoration too :D I just paid 20 bucks for 3 replacement screens ( I know I got ripped off, thats what you get for going to a head shop) if you dont currently own a dremmel you can get a cheap one (i think theres small wireless ones for 20-30 bucks) so for an extra ten bucks you get the ability to restore your screens, as apposed to just buying screens every time they are no longer cleanable by hand. I also use a cotton polishing bit to clean the stem of the mouth piece and it gets them spotless. Qtips fit in the dremmel great and clean the corners of the oven that I cannot clean by magic eraser. All around I get a lot of use out of my dremmel with this, I just have to keep the bits separate in a bag labeled so that I dont accidentally use them somewhere else.

Mr.Krinkle,
Yes, those are the anomalies I am talking about. What issues have you heard about that are dissuading you from purchase? I know that battery life seems to be an issue for some.
Well, just a few things that I'm sure you've heard of... but what you said was all I wanted to hear, I just have came across a lot a negative and I don't know anyone who owns one personally, but I suppose there are a lot more people who come on here for problems than to report that they have NOT had any problems. How is the vapor quality though? My MAIN CONCERN is how thoroughly engineered this is, and I would like to make 100% certain that the circuit and the battery are ABSOLUTELY NOT in any way connected or accessible to the air path.. which looking at the removable mouth piece and design, I'm really curious if there is any foul tastes at all, or even metallic tastes. That would be the very most important to me!

Thoughts?

StraightChill,
I have not had the opportunity to inspect it and take it apart so I have no idea, plus I do not know anyone that owns one personally that would let me check that out either lol, I'm just a perfectionist like that

I have a model that I have taken apart several times, they're very nicely made, the stainless path is completely separate from any internals, with no breaks in the tube of any sort. The vapor flavor is insane on low, medium maintains flavor and puts out serious vapor, and makes massive clouds on high that I cannot even hold longer than a second. I have had a few different people compare the flavor of it to the taste of eating bud.

SICK, that is exactly what I was hoping to hear.

Has anyone on here owned or used the Arizer Solo? How would you compare the vapor quality to that vape? Because I've heard a few people who have both say that the taste is actually better on the solo, I'm wondering if anyone thinks the opposite??

While I respect Mr.Krinkle and his knowledge of the Pax, I disagree with him about the flavour. The first thing I did when I got mine was draw through the mouthpiece. This told me two things: the Pax has a really restricted airflow (and the MP isn't even the limiting factor) and the MP imparts a slight but distinct taste. It's not a plastic taste and I didn't find it particularly offensive, but it's there. The airpath is all stainless steel until you get to the exit hole, and that minimum contact with plastic is enough to throw off the taste. Some people, and maybe Mr.Krinkle is one of them, can't detect the taste. You might be another, but that's not the end of it. The Pax is a poor choice for flavour connoisseurs anyway because it is constantly heating its load. The terpenoids that carry flavour are volatile at low temperatures and the Pax's heating method destroys them quickly. Finally, as you use the Pax and resin accumulates in the MP, the taste deteriorates even further.

I haven't used a Solo. It has an all-glass airpath and should taste much cleaner. Everything I've read supports that. It also cooks its load somewhat while it's on, but not nearly to the extent the Pax does.

Yeah.. F* Combustion..
I am going on 3 months owning a couple Pax and this is really my only complaint. It can be so tough to get the screen to sit right when I am out-and-about with my Pax. It always feels like a crazy balancing act trying to get the screen to sit right and when I don't get it right I usually don't find out until after I have heated the oven and get an empty pull. Such a great device with such a silly flaw.

I always just had the screen out, then put the end in that isn't on the side of the hole, then took my tamping tool and push the screen down until it is snug.. So far that has always worked for me.

I do not own a pax, and I know the topic right now is on lube right now but I just HAVE to ask this: IS THERE ANYONE ON HERE THAT HAS HAD THEIR PAX FOR MORE THAN A FEW MONTHS THAT HAD NEVER HAD ISSUES WITH IT??

That would be me. Cleaning this thing takes less time than cleaning a bong so I don't know why people are complaining about it. It is a little more.. tactical to clean it, as it is intricate, but don't let that scare you. Can you clean any of your pieces with a Q-tip, Pipe cleaner and a very little amount of rubbing alcohol? You can take longer if you want, but do realize that a clean pax is a happy pax.

They're complaining about having to clean it all the time. The fact that Ploom has adopted the slogan "A clean Pax is a happy Pax" should be enough to alert people that this device is not like the others. No other vapourizer that I'm familiar with is so fussy about being kept clean. Furthermore, you have to be extra careful because poor cleaning technique can easily render your temperature setting button useless.

I agree there, I was just implying that regardless of what you have or own, you will need to clean it at some point. I will say this, no pieces I have ever seen do not need to be cleaned. I guess it was my understanding that regardless of what piece I purchased, this hobby is not something that can go without maintenance.

That's true, they all need cleaning at some point. On the other hand, none of them need it as often as the Pax. My FV just needs the top screen brushed after each bowl, an ISO brush every half dozen or so, and I've actually had to soak the top screen a couple of times over two months. My LBs need to be brushed out occasionally and an ISO brush/burn maybe once a month at most. The P2 needs brushing and I've not had to do anything else to it. These are all frequently used devices.

The Pax, well... If I don't clean it every couple of days the temp light issue gets annoying, the MP gets sticky, and it tastes even worse than usual. Note that those are ANDed together not ORed.

I haven't cleaned my Solo stem in a month still works great. Now how many times in that month of heavy use would I have had to clean a Pax just to keep it working properly? There is a huge difference in having to clean something because you WANT it clean versus having to clean something just to get it to work as it should.

Hi everyone..new to vaping here..I just bought a pax in december..and i loved it from the start. I have been reading the pax threads..wishing and praying I wouldnt have any of the problems others are having. I cleaned mine according to the vids..even though didnt look like i needed to... few times i had the temp lite issue but seemed to resolve itself..Then the dreaded mouth piece sticking.. I think I have the new mouthpiece.. and even emailed vape world for the lube. I applied it and tried it and i never coughed so hard in my life. It was horrible...needless to say i clicked it off and i havent been able to open the mouth piece for over a week ..trying to open it all the time throught day...sighs...even tried the hair dryer method...hasnt worked... so i emailed vape world and they said send back... sighs... i really enjoyed using this device i was hoping if any one had any other ideas how to get mouth piece from being stuck ... sorry I dont have another vape so i dont want to be without!!

If you were to compare the Pax and or the Solo to a home unit (a quality one, ie. Extreme Q (what I have) a Volcano, PLENTY, whatever ect.) how would you rate the vapor quality on a scale of 1 - 10 ??

That would be the best way to compare I think for simplicity.

This is my first time on the forum, and I just wanna say this place is the shit compared to all the other forums I've been on, I feel like not too many people seem to care too much about anything on other forums in comparison, everyone seems VERY quick to help people out on here so far, I love it!

Personally.. I like my pax, but the EQ that I hit was so smooth (Pulled it through a whip and then through a bong, so that could have something to do with it) I think I would like a home unit eventually, but for now, my Pax has kept me happy.

My home unit is a Extreme Q hooked up to my water pipe, pax is my main portable vape. Pakalolo is right, the mouthpiece does have it's own "flavor" (not bad or anything, but just not the cleanest tasting vape out there, my Solo definitely wins for best tasting portable vape). However the pax's size, looks and ease of use makes it a great vape to have on the go. The cleaning really doesn't bother me, I clean my glass pieces every time I use them, and the pax is so small I understand resin clogging and making things stick. If I use it during the day I usually get around to cleaning it at night, I never let anything build up and thus far has not had any issues whatsoever.

Yea I remember you and someone else discussing weather or not it has a strong plasticy taste. I agree with you that it has a taste, Its not strong to me, but a brand new pax did have a strange hint, I dont notice it now that its not brand new. The lube however, is probaby the most bitter shit that has ever touched my lips, I fucking hate the lube to no end and will never use it on my new one if I can get away with it. I didnt really make the connection that he was asking to compare the flavor, I never vaporized daily until the pax and it tastes insane to me compared to what I was used to, to the point where I dont enjoy smoking any more, so I still say the flavor is great! But in comparison to other vapes I have no experience besides some random sessions, I was just basing it off of the fact that when I smoke the Pax I enjoy the fuck out of the taste and others have told me its got a similar taste to the flavor of strong edibles. Everyone keep in mind something such as flavor is a bit subjective too, its like trying to argue which tastes better, steak or chicken, apples or oranges.

I agree that compared to combustion, the Pax does deliver insanely good flavour. I also want to emphasize the point that the taste added by the MP isn't really strong or particularly offensive, at least not to me. I'm comparing it to other vapourizers though, and of all the devices I've tried the Pax places last.

As for the lube, I've never bothered to get some. While I get the temp light problem occasionally, I've always been able to make it behave with a minimum of fuss. Basically, I remove and replace the MP, which works a lot of the time. If it doesn't, I take it off and blow through the stem, which almost always works but I still have no idea why. Once in a while, the only solution seems to be an ISO cleaning for the MP.
