It could be any number of reasons that you got an older unit. Don't worry, just go ahead and use it. I love mine, it's got the slick finish. If you start having any issues, Ploom will take care of you. If you feel you absolutely MUST have the newest one, then it might be worth contacting them ASAP to find out what your options are. They have a customer service chat option on their website.

I ordered mine directly from Ploom, and received it today. I was just wondering why mine is the old, smooth finish, and not the newer one. Also, some people mentioned the 1 second delay on the temp button light when you remove the mouthpiece, theres no delay on mine, its illuminated as the mouthpiece is removed. whats up with that?
I got mine from vapeworld so I am not sure about Ploom.
I would want the newest version too.. I'd say ride this pax til the wheels fall off and if you need replacement you can request a newer one later.

I've dumped my lube into a little plastic baggy and I just throw my mouth piece in there.. It was a bitch trying to squeeze lube onto the mouthpiece it just got a bit too messy for me.
This way I just pull it out the bag and wipe off the lube from the black mouthpiece area.

Hey FC members,
New here and got PAX last week. Like others have stated, when I turn my pax on the light alternates between the temp setting and purple. Once it finally gets green, it only lasts for about 2 hits then goes back to purple. Also, the thing won't even charge when I put it on the charger. Any suggestions?

Hey now i just thought i would pass this idea along. I use an empty bottle of eye Drops ( visine or clear eyes etc) for the lube and it works great.

Thanks for the advice! The 10 year warranty is definitely re-assuring :)

pressed pollen or fluffy pollen in the pax?

any tips for using the mouthpiece lube?
I put my lube on the pipe cleaner after I've cleaned the latch then stick a pipe cleaner down there with some lube. I havent needed to lube either of my new Pax yet, I keep up on cleaning them and havent had a problem yet. I clean the switch once a week unless I blaze keef out of it.

yikes that sounds terrible haha no offence- the taste of this shit is unbearable so thats probably the worst way to put it on for people like me that dont like the taste.

Am I missing somthing? Why is everyone having extreme difficulty with these lube packs? I rip the very tip off and bend the packet upwards when its resting and that works fine, store them upright in an envelope or between two pieces of paper or index card or somthing to prevent spilling if you have removed too much of the packet

haha I was actually originally asking in regards to location of application, I just wanted to know the best areas to lube :p

haha I wasnt picking on you, I understood your question and answered it separately. Theres been a lot of discussion about what to do with the lube packets as a lot of people have had a lot of trouble with applying it straight from the packet and storing the packet with out leakage. I dont see the problem is all I am saying, I think if anything using dropers or visene containers would make it harder not easier to apply, and would only remedy the problem of not having a leak proof storage. Mine isnt in anything, I have it bent at a right angle where the packet has been ripped open, and it hasnt spilled anywhere once, I have had the packet opened over a month.

Yeah sometimes I let it burn off with a dry run or two, but I've barely used the lube unless I didn't have time to clean.

Sonics420,
I do not own a pax, and I know the topic right now is on lube right now but I just HAVE to ask this: IS THERE ANYONE ON HERE THAT HAS HAD THEIR PAX FOR MORE THAN A FEW MONTHS THAT HAD NEVER HAD ISSUES WITH IT?? I have a solo but I'm allured by how much more portable it is. At first appearance is seems like THE perfect vape. But I have never had any problems with my solo, the pax just seems more sleek but it seems like nearly 100% of people have problems with this vape soon enough with little to no resolution from Ploom besides replacement units that eventually have more problems. I'm sorry I haven't read the several hundreds of pages so I'm not sure if someone has asked this yet (probably but I couldn't find it) could someone please disprove this for me, assuming the vapor taste (herb) is pure and clean as possible I really would LOVE to buy one but not if I'm going to have all these problem no matter how often I end up cleaning

First Pax I bought had issues within a month.
Replacement Pax already giving me the temp light issue.
The issues can be fixed if you want to spend your time cleaning it, but its a cycle. Im going to keep it real with you, my girlfriend got annoyed @ me because I spent too much time fiddling with and cleaning/maintaining the pax LOL.

Hahaha, dude that's what I'm saying, it just sucks man... I want this vape soooo bad, but I can'y buy one if it requires more than a quick clean once or twice a week, especially if it's going to need replacement or lubing, it's just ridiculous, I hope Ploom fixes all this crap soon, it's been a while now, have they not updated or fixed anything??

We're here to fuck shit up.
The majority of problems are directly correlated to an unclean unit. There are a handful of issues that have been discovered that are not due to the Pax being dirty. I feel these are the regular anomalies that plague almost everything that is mass produced. There are always going to be a few wonky units whenever anything is produced in large numbers on an assembly line. For the most part, if you are diligent in keeping your Pax clean it will treat you right. Since receiving my replacement unit in the beginning of October, due to one of those anomalies, I have not had a single issue that a cleaning does not fix.

The Pax has not even been out a year. I doubt you're going to see any major changes in the design anytime soon. If you can't take 10 minutes to clean the unit every other day, with medium to heavy use, then the Pax isn't for you. Is the cleaning really that much of a hassle to everyone? What does everyone do with dirty dishes and dirty clothes?

I've had mine just over a month and found cleaning it every few days seems to work a treat. Every time i've thought i've had an issue, a good clean has sorted it right out. It only takes a few minutes to clean and it's nice having it all shiny afterwards. And, uh, i quite like having a little mission/ritual to do. Makes it easier to replace the ritual of skinning up.

I might be the anomaly here but I actually like cleaning my pax, and to be honest it doesn't take all that long, I am not spending that much less time cleaning the puffit or the INH004 but hardly anybody on those forums bitch about the cleaning.
I do however found that lately I get a lot of debris in my mouth (and when I say a lot I mean A LOT!!)
also my screen pops out sometimes for no reason or is hard to get back "stuck" again on the oven floor.
It seems it's very hard to order more new screens (always out of stock)
Is this normal or could it be from getting it in and out of the oven so much it's sides are a bit worn off so it doesn't stick as easy?
I grind good but not powder and I did not have this problem before.

On the other hand, as of lately it seems to me my pax is spending less of my herbs than usual, I can get
two good sessions for two people out of one not tightly packed oven, temp yellow.
All in all, it has its ups and downs but lately it has more ups for me.

Yeah, those screens are a pain in the ass. I'm not exactly sure what happens, but they do just not want to stay put after some time. I think you're right about the screen edge wearing down because new ones fit snug. I've thought about taking a Dremmel, very lightly, to the inside of the oven on the vapor tube side so that there is some texture for the screen to grab onto on that side. I'm hoping that this will do the trick.

How long have you had your pax though?? I mean it's cool to clean it semi often I don't mind cleaning as long as its not after EVERY session. But I hear OTHER things that ruins it for me. Like things that make it need to be sent in for replacement after only a few months

Cleaning the INH and Pax is much different.
Pax has the mouthpiece, stem of the mouth piece, vapor path of the mouth piece, lid, screen, around the vapor path in the pax, IN the vapor path and oven you have to clean. :\

My XP I just soak the capsule in iso than wash it off with hot water and I'm done??

Yes, those are the anomalies I am talking about. What issues have you heard about that are dissuading you from purchase? I know that battery life seems to be an issue for some.

Yes, INH takes less time but for a good cleaning I take out the screen in the mouthpiece and clean it toroughly, this all takes almost as much time as a full pax cleaning. I think the mouthpiece of the INH also gunks up a little bit faster with sticky debris as where
the pax oven is cleaned easily.
I don't clean my pax every week, but I'm also not using it every day, I rotate :) and the in between
cleanings of the pax just take a minute (clean oven, clean tip of mouthpiece)
I use the pax 3 to 4 times a week.

I had it from august or so, not sure anymore sorry.
But I don't clean it after every session, maybe after 7 to 10 sessions.
Never had any problem with it, nothing, no temp light, bad contact whatever.
Maybe my herbs are not of the sticky kind, maybe I'm lucky, who knows.
Today I cleaned my pax very carefully and for the first time I had the sticky temp button issue, but it didn't stick that much so I wiggled with it a bit and the problem was solved. Next time I'll use a bit less iso and
all will be well.

Sorry mods I don't know how to merge the two posts

I am going on 3 months owning a couple Pax and this is really my only complaint. It can be so tough to get the screen to sit right when I am out-and-about with my Pax. It always feels like a crazy balancing act trying to get the screen to sit right and when I don't get it right I usually don't find out until after I have heated the oven and get an empty pull. Such a great device with such a silly flaw.

I used my capsule for about 2 weeks straight and didnt even need to clean it at all. I probably used up to 7-8 capsules per day. I saw no point in removing my screen cause I shook it in iso and washed it out after and the screen looked brand new.

Point is theres no scrubbing, rubbing or scraping that needs to be done with the INH compared to the Pax. It just has too many parts to clean and if you have no other vapes it becomes a hassle with heavy usage.

I find myself cleaning my capsule every 8 or so sessions (capusles) by then the screen and the white part behind it start to get dark.
But to be honest, I don't mind cleaning it plus i really like it more when it's clean so it could be me
