Behold, the Brass Cap!

I wasn't a huge fan of the removable lid design initially, but I've since changed my mind. Anyone with access to a 3d printer (ie. anyone with an internet connection these days) will be able to have some custom plates printed up should they choose. Even better if you can get parts milled. The ability to customize the plates is a great design element!

I decided to test this out with a milled brass cap that fills a lot of the cavity, attached securely via the m2.5 screws instead of magnets. This was suppose to be a test piece, but it turned out so well, I'm leaving it as it is and calling it a day. Just a little polish and possibly some sealant. Perhaps a laser etched design if I can find a pattern I can live with, but I do like a plain patina. It sure adds a nice heft to the top that keeps the spin going a bit longer.

Definitely a buy it for life grinder! And whoever gets to pick through my belongings when I shuffle off this mortal coil will have a grinder for their lives as well.

This is really just a one off for my own entertainment. I used it as an opportunity to play with AI, CAD, and prototype manufacturing at a hobby level. I knew nothing about it until I started goofing around with this lid. Fun stuff! Though, it's probably better done when not blazed.

Well this is badass. I cannot wait to see what the community comes up with for these caps. It makes me that much more excited to see what creative ideas will be coming for customizing this grinder. I'm sure some incredible caps with additional utility will be made.

Just got my email with DHL tracking. No clue timeline to US but it’s on the way. I’m hyped
For me I got the notification on a Friday and it was delivered the next Monday morning (midwest US), so it hopefully will be quick for you too! That DHL express is impressive.

Psyched I'm finally gonna put my XL to work tomorrow! I've just been playing with it since I got mine as it's easier (and less smelly) to dab at home.

I still wish the spoon was a tiny bit shorter or had a groove in the middle or something so it could be stored in the top section but again it is not a criticism.

What's impressed me most is the magnets holding the top piece on. I can turn it upside down and shake it with decent force and the lid will just slide a little and then come back into place. It was actually kinda fun to do... and it's really good from a safety perspective considering what the teeth (or just sheer mass in general) could do to a foot!

To be clear, though, with enough force the magnet will not be able to keep it in place but the level of effort needed tells me you would have to be intentionally trying to do it for it to happen.

Very curious to see how the grind etc is when I get to our vacation place tomorrow and will follow up as long as I can see straight by the end. 😅

Fingers crossed it gets there soon for you!
What approximate order number were you? Trying to gauge how long I'm going to be waiting. Didn't get in on pre-order, but I bought mine in mid-June.
Tracking update expected delivery Thursday. Maybe it will actually come earlier fingers crossed. I believe around 4448 range if I remember correctly

I'm order number 5408 and I ordered at the beginning of June. I'm guessing the order number isn't exclusive to only the XLs but for every order OM sells so it's going to be tough to gauge from that how many XLs Ben is shipping per week?

GrilledCheeze,
I like to go by the pictures that are posted here (or other channels like discord) to get a rough idea of throughout

It has been a while, last I saw was #34 on June 27th

I'm eager to get mine but also am patiently waiting :) my order was mid march and I must have been the last of the first batch, before the 2nd batch preorder opened

e: oh and on his update video from June 29th, he just sent out #50 and said that another 10 were following that Tuesday

It is a bit hard to tell his current pace since he has solved the magnet/threading challenged.

It also sounded like he is doing about 25/2weeks (he mentioned 25 further out by next fortnite)
