I remember in the late 60's I pretended I was my best friend's brother, and we got to go on the USS Enterprise for "Family Day" because his sister married a seaman. They took us 50 miles outside the Golden Gate and shot flares out of the sky with jets, landed and took off from the deck. We got to wander around. They had a very minimal library. They served us steak and lobster. It was amazing how efficient they were.
