I think it was more the on-demand nature with the pure convection, and the simple, short, open, pretty pure pathway... The original did not have any temp control or app, it can also be easy to scorch when you're not careful, so I don't think it's as simple as just low temps being used :2c:
Fair enough. I only have the 2+. The short path is nice. I have experienced the scorching but i also am able to easily overwhelm the heater with a fast draw.

But in any case a relic of its time.

Firefly was my first vape. It did show me that vaping worked. I still have it and if I’m lucky it will never be used by me again. There are better, more reliable and easier to use vapes.
My very same thoughts, when I read your post I thought it was me...

I agree...but, in its hey day when you received that amazing box and how it was packaged...it was like getting an IPHONE. I thought it was just marvelous back then. It was so cool...the originals that I have look super retro...especially the red one...it was a great learning vape. I had that and the Magic Flight...cool days.

This is the same reason I nearly bought it back then but I'm glad I never did. After using one a few times I felt the cons outweighed the pros.

Yeah surprising because they sure as hell made it sound like they were going under when they discontinued everything else... Maybe it is just as a total relaunch, but I would like to know if there has been any changes behind scenes at the company??

FF always seemed quite controversial, and I totally understand the frustrations. For me, it still served my purposes for a great 1-2 flavor bomb out and about, but I echo all the issues that have been raised by the community. Now the fun part before the apparent FF3 - making a wishlist that I’ve always wanted for FF improvement:

1) more robust battery (same form factor, but I’d be willing to accept a slightly thicker proprietary battery for more life and power)
2) upright usage (like a Pax) for more discretion out and about. I dislike the awkward faux-pipe hold required but understand the nostalgia for glass pipes
3) glass option for mouthpiece? For those flavor hounds
4) stirring optional. The most irritating part of an FF - stirring to squeeze more out of your material, and then having the wind or your own breath flick all the herb out of the bowl
5) USB-C because of course

I still love my FF2+s out and about but there were too many compromises for me. I am impressed with my TM as an amazing evolution of the on-demand craze, but it’s so bulky in form factor compared to FF and Pax.

What do you all hope to see in a new FF version?

Never expected a Firefly 3, will be hard not to get if the improvements are worth it. Maybe they were just waiting for the tech to catch up to their vision? Better heating elements, better batteries and all that. Am excited to see what they make

I'm not sure I see much in tht Firefly that's worth keeping in today's market.
i really liked 1. the vapor pathway, still seems elegant to me. it was almost fun to clean.
& 2. it was very tasty. best tasting for me as far as i remember (but it has been years so maybe i misremember).

personally i also liked the formfactor, that it felt like using a pipe. i hated the buttons. and the glowing logo on the 2+ was too much for me. but i loved the glowing oven.

but really hard to foresee whats going to happen with the name. i have my fingers crossed reegardless

The Firefly has always won my taste tests...I loved the design. Simple and elegant. Easy to clean and operate...a great outdoor vape. I used it for years and still do. I have the red and silver OG ones from long ago...beautiful pieces.

Since we don't have any info, I'll be the one to share a negative potential perspective, we don't know anything about the new owners, there have been many cases of new owners purchasing established vape brands, then cheaping out the company with crap until it eventually folds... FF3 could be a rehash, or it could be incorporating everything we have ever wanted... Could be a case of great new owners as we have seen a few of those, but I think it is more rare and especially with a big mainstream company like this... I'm still feeling pretty skeptical until we know more
