Manual Vape Thread

Dreamwood has a handful of DLX Ones in stock. These are such nice vapes, they're beautiful, functional, and they're cheap--about $75USD:

They're as comfortable on a big rig as they are on a j-hook, or you can use them like a pipe with an RBT-style stem.
Looks interesting. A couple of questions - what is the bowl size range? Is it usable in both 14 & 18mm connections?

These are butane driven? You fire down that curved tube and you draw while torching?
Yes, they're little bricks essentially.

Sort of. I prefer to aim the torch across the end of the curved tube, rather than straight down.
Exactly. The objective is drawing in the heat of the flame, not the flame itself.

The bowl size is an 18mm joint. You put a screen in the bottom of the joint for larger loads and a basket screen in the top of the joint for smaller loads. I've got setups for 18mm, 14mm, and 10mm rigs.

Thinking about getting a dreamwood Roasty. I keep reading the airflow is really restricted. I feel like I could avoid restriction by using ungrounded little pieces of nugs just like in a Terpcicle. Anyone use it that way?

I would be getting a large if that helps.
I just tried it to see. Hand-torn buds will work, and it is a little more open. It's normally a bit restricted but not uncomfortable. I think it's less efficient; you need to throw more heat into it, it seems, for the looser pack, but the flavor's really good.

Personally I really like the restricted airflow of the Roasty as it gives the session a very strong joint or blunt feeling. Due to the conduction heat it really feels like puffing a good ol‘ J.

Yeah I can imagine. I have an unfortunate jaw condition howevef. I've had to let go of many vapes the past due to too much restriction.

I have 14mm and 18mm quartz cap for example. I can't use them with ground weed as they Flare my pain levels up massively. But with whole buds it is fine.

It just seems the Roasty is not for me. Looks great though.

I want to show off my new TED stem, a beautiful handmade double-ended WPA in Stainless-lined walnut, by @kegstandman420. He's shown a few of his own handmade stems in the Dynavap thread, so I asked him to make me one too! Glad I did, because I'm really happy with how it turned out!

The wood is gorgeous, and the simple cigar shape is beautifully done and feels great in the hand.

The 14mm connection fits my glass perfectly. The 18mm joint does as well. And in a deep enough joint, the 18mm cut will engage with 14mm end down:

Mine was made with the HyperDyn in mind, and with 2x heatings per bowl, the wood stays nice and cool.

KSM is a pleasure to work with. He is willing to hear out just what you're after and come up with issues to be addressed, ideas on how to accomplish it, and just a fine sense of taking those demands and completing it with an artistic touch. You can message him here or through his store: Greenthumbwoodwork.
That device gives off such a Steampunk vibe really love it. How does that work? Is it butane powered?

That's the Dynavap HyperDyn with the Thermal Hyper Cap, which makes it a ball vape. It is butane powered but only requires a pocket torch. It also comes with Stainless Steel balls you can switch in to use it better with an induction heater. It's a really nice device--it has a big bowl (.2g) and you can get it with its own stem or just the tip and caps separately.

Here's the small vs large:

No reason not to get the large, it's awesome, but I use the small a lot more often. It's easy to get a nice even roast, it'll fit a couple DV bowls' worth, and the conical shape fits your pocket easier and mates with waterpipes (14mm easily, 18mm if the joint's deep enough).
