You're conflating that quote & the strength economy with who it's serving best & benefits from it, and those are two different things. Yes, the US economy is strong as discussed in the article. And yes, that doesn't mean it helps many people who don't have a big income or assets as you mention. Again, two different things, and a non-sequitur. Trump's actions are threatening economic pullback to recession, and many people will eventually find out (again) that a strong economy is a whole lot better than weakness & especially a recession for most everyone.

I feel for the bureaucrats having their lives disrupted, that happened in the oil business as well. I'm mostly concerned about Trump's unknown relationship with Putin and whether it not we're headed toward economic collapse and possibly even WW3. I doubt it, but maybe it'll all work out in the end, somehow, hopefully.

In the meantime, didn't know where to post this video, thought maybe it would lighten up the fucking mood in here.

Stoner Cats having trouble finding the right sativa. This is an animated series from 4 years ago that went under my radar. It's pretty well made and funny with lots of celebrities, including the Kutchers, Seth McFarland, Chris Rock, Jane Fonda, and Dax Shepard. As might be expected from McFarland, the story gets complicated.

Edit: I tried to grow (dirt cheap) organic autoflower on the backporch last year. It started amazing, but I learned a lesson about too much summer sun. This video makes me anxious try again in a couple of months. Have a simple plan to protect them better this year.

This is cool if you have the space. But if I can't work in a field outside of agriculture in exchange for fungible currency I can trade for vegetables that don't slowly poison me...I'm starting to wonder, what's the point of civilization :hmm:

Civilization can happen without capitalism.
Capitalism only is responsible for farmers focusing on profitability over product quality.

I think that all of us don't have the same definition of quality. To me it's not about frostiness and THC levels. It's about growing practice and commitment of the growers.

In Europe we have the chance to witness a movement towards extensive agricultural practices, organic growing and more recently towards permaculture and syntropic farming. But this is only up to the will of farmers to offer a better product and to free themselves from fertilizers, chemicals and petroleum.

It is still a niche production but there are CBD growers out there that are doing a wonderful job : outdoor, extensive, living soil growing. Of course you have to sacrifice bud density and quantity as well as calyx size and trichrome abundance when you compare to fertilized hydroponics, but the terpene profile and potency of outdoor organic flower can be excellent nonetheless.

The economy under Joe Biden was very bad for normal people. 1 in 4 Americans were (and still are) functionally unemployed. Housing is completely unaffordable in every major metro area. Homelessness reached record highs under Biden.

This is why Trump won. This is why Liberal parties across the world are losing to the Far Right. The Liberals are either lying to voters about the state of the economy. Or they're refusing to offer anything to voters that would plausibly address the economic pain of the working class.

Along comes the Far Right. They tell voters their economic pain is caused by immigrants and promise to punish them. In the absence of any countervailing message from the Liberals, the Far Right wins.
