The Tempest by Mad Heaters & Phatpiggie

@Jojofernz what type torch you using? I’ve found about an inch and a half, maybe two, bright blue single flame working well. Tried my triple flame with Tempest horizontal. But kind of awkward spinning that way and the little lighter gets real hot.
I got a cheap one from Home Depot but yeah it’s a single flame bigger than Dynavap single flame torches and been working perfect. I tried triple flame once and definitely can work but like you said gets awkward and for sure the single flame works better.

I don't have mine yet waiting for official release but I guess there is more chance that taste, draw speed/ pressure and sensitivity is significantly different between people than wands ?
Could be possible! I just find quite a wide range of variance for people in this thread with wand settings. I think could be a mix of the wand, insert depth, and how they are hitting it. And wand variance I think I mean more the position of the coil in them? I tried matching mine to another users, and at the same temp settings they were able to get a nice roast throughout, mine was left pretty light.

Regardless, I think everyone will be able to figure what works precisely for them and that’s some of the fun of these devices. Was always what I liked about Dynavap too, find what works for you and what you like could be a good bit different than how another user hits theirs. The customizable airflow on cap and stem, different tubes, so many options for so many experiences with the tempest.

After using Tempest exclusively native for the first ~month+ I tried tossing it on a WPA. Absolutely rips on my RBB Milk Ball, yet another way to use your Tempest that is well above average. I still want and use my ZX, but I could absolutely see a Tempest and a nail sufficing if you were going for a minimalist kit.

Yeah Tempest doesn't need supplementary vapes, for those who prefer minimalism. Can handle indoors/outdoors, quick hits/long sessions, can be heated in various ways and is easy to clean. It has all the versatility needed to be a do it all vape for some people.

Personally I'm enjoying supplementing it with Brick style butane vapes. As they are the opposite of Tempest in that they are high fuss. Pure convection also. Tempest feels 90/10 to me, so has a different signature. Tempest signature is my go to for everyday. But sometimes I want something a little different.

So last night, I started paying attention to the VI during second heats and that makes them much easier. Tempest competence is going up. I think tonight I may finally try a torch. I contemplated not wanting to darken the look of the cap but I dropped it hot on a plastic bag (which melted of course) so while I was able to remove the melted plastic easy enough after a reheat, it is no longer pristine looking so wtf... ;)

Since UK is no longer in EU i have to pay customs and more added costs on every purchase that gets send to me.
Therefore i decided to wait until official launch so i could combine everything in one order instead of spreading it out over two and paying twice....

But i was weak and decided to get in on the second drop and scored!
So, in hindsight?
Am i sorry for the extra costs this will bring? Do i feel like i should i have waited?

LoL
Not even a hint of regret! Take my money, government bitches!!
It was more than worth it!
For me personally it's not even a honeymoon experience: i'm not married to it!
It is however a True Romance: from now on we will live together, as long as i vape!!!
:love::D
It's a rare thing: a vape that wins you over instantly and makes you say out loud:
"Ah, finally!! Where have you been all this time?
And hey, btw: how you doin??"
:smug:

not the way to vape in a lower temp for a longer time as i thought..:D:lol:
Im going to try to combine 2mm balls and 2,5 balls of zirc
I ordered some 2mm zirc as well when ordering the 2.5mm after the other day's mishap of spilling my balls.
I did so for pretty much the same reason, want to retain heat just a bit longer. I'd be very interested in hearing how your experiment goes given my order from ali hasn't arrived yet.

I think I've used it everyday for 3 months at this point. I love it just as much as day one. Still finding new ways to modify It. It's such a special vape. Tempest is him.

Almost pulled the trigger today! Had a Ti unit in my cart with a reload, then got distracted with a meeting only to find it out of stock on return! Hopefully soon!

Has the visual indicator worked to expectations or are you all missing the calibrated click at all?

Have you tried SIC by themselves?
I want…but! I ordered x100 2mm sic balls…and they are not enough to fill the tempest :lol: i need more

me too since i will have to wait to try a full sic config since i need to order more balls

Maybe it is easy tl get 2,5 balls but i dont want to extend the heating time a lot

With my actual combo i notice one thing: it degrades the flavor way faster

Hmmm...I bought a single flame torch at first, then after reading a bit here and seeing Brenyo recommend double or triple I decided to return that single flame, and bought quadruple flame.
Now I see people saying single is better? How come?

I think it depends on the power of the flame. I find a single (normal) flame much slower and not as effective as a double or triple flame. A single can be good if you want to add more conduction but the lack of power can cause the stem to get hotter because the longer you take, the more it will dissipate to it

I'm sorry. Ed's been around for a long time, and I have loved his stuff. But almost $40 delivered for nothing really more then an 18mm dewar joint is... uh... well... not a good bargain.

FYI that is not what "dewar" is? (Refers to top down sunken female joints as far as I know) I know you love my terminological semantics lol

But yeah any discount codes? You see no one else makes them, so hard to argue with the price really... Looks like a nice one at least?? Rogue Wax Works can offer them cheaper probably though... Otherwise why not just use an adapter, cheapest, no???

So then the male side of a ground glass joint. Is that better? My point doesn't change.

Regardless, I purchased a 10 14 18 one recently for $4.99 delivered from China. That is China, but still...

I have an old DDave wand that broke a while back and I may just cut that down a bit, tho I don't have a glass cutter.
Otherwise why not just use an adapter, cheapest, no???
Or just use a reducer as you suggest.

It’s not a Dynavap single flame torch like eagle torch lighters. That would be too small.

The single flame I’m using is probably in between a Dynavap single flame torch and a kitchen torch which I use for my Terpcicles.

I find the single torch easier to aim right at the band so you’re not heating too high or too low. It seems to heat quicker than the wand, and provides much thicker clouds.

I’m actually finding I prefer the torch over the wand for the tempest. Wand works great and extra convenient. But I find I’m getting some easy single heat full extractions with a torch.

Oh I did mean reducer, but I kept it broad sort of intentionally, I guess this^ apparent solution was why!

Edit: oh and personally I always use dropdown adapters with water pieces, sometimes dry pieces too, and that makes it really easy to switch 10-14-18 in any direction too, many options!

I’ve been eyeing the Ronx dual flame for awhile & think now’s the time to snag (it’s beefy enough I think). Getting more flame on the surface area could be good as the balls sit below the bottom mark and well above the top mark. I hit almost the entire side of the Fusion cap with flames, which works better for me than any single.
