My Tulsa Oklahoma residence of 62 years is now surrounded by 21 MMJ Dispensary's within a 3 mile radius ! Almost one on every corner it seems.
I remember when that was Churchs(50's), then Bars once liquor was legalized (liquor by the drink, 60's), next was Convenience stores(70's). Now, Cannabis stores have taken over(as of 2018)
And to think, I Hid from authorities over 50 years for using Cannabis. Now I cant leave my house further than a half mile in Any direction without passing one ! Unfortunately, Ive yet to find one that has Better Flower than Im allowed to grow myself !
How things change !!!

And with soo many of them, I have No Idea how they stay open and run a Profitable business !

This article shows that a lot of companies are advertising 420 specials. Scroll down to see the ads. Lots of fried junk food. That's all stoners like......

What an amazing story. Just the headline put a smile on my face. Then I clicked to the comments and saw archetypal NY Post readers crying that people smoking the devil's lettuce is causing them not to work hard enough for their bosses. Absolutely made my day.

Singapore executes man for trafficking two pounds of cannabis Hmnnn... while I haven't actually trafficked two pounds of cannabis, I've certainly had possession of that amount numerous times. This hapless guy - the case was not even very solid - gets hanged!
I was thinking of that execution earlier today as Minnesota House passed a legal adult cannabis bill and we await Senate vote.
Great victory BUT people are still dying so a long way yet to go…. Very sad indeed

This is fucked up. Use of all drugs including alcohol is declining among teens. What's the world coming to? Who needs a bunch of sober assholes anyway?

There seems to be a whole lot of people who just revel in misery as being the norm, and if you're not part of it, you're somehow "the problem".

Every year it gets worse and worse.

This isn't news but there are three recent entertaining episodes, if you can find them.

There is a story within the story. Apparently, Jim found the guy that supplied the SNL cast with killer weed back in the 70's, who coincidentally has developed a sativa hybrid strain called Captain Jack, which sounds excellent. It's mostly contrived comedy, in case you're bored.

Edit:. Oops! You can search "Growing Belushi Se1 Ep1 The Dope of Oregon"

$4 a gram?

TAKE MY MONEY!

Love to see what the thai peeps say about our prices here in the states.

Move to Ontario. I recently bought 7g of Pineapple Express for $27.95 and 3.5g of Grand Daddy Purps for $17.95 from my new dealer the government. Those are Canadian dollars. The last time I paid around $30 for a quarter was in the 70s, and those were 70s dollars.

That is gross.

If we had those prices down here, i would vape soooooo much more flower than i do.

If you're open to home grow (and your location allows it) it's a great way to get large amounts of very high quality flower at low cost. Plus many find it a really enjoyable hobby!

In my case, I often give away much more than I personally consume.

Move to Ontario.

I'm trying, I'm trying. It's just too damn cold. That's why I let my heater and my air conditioner run 24/7. Like a little battle. It's my attempt to speed up global warming so I can finally move north of the border.

Toronto in January after my plan works:

Wearing shorts all winter. Vaping cheap Canuck weed. Wettin' my whistle with a sixer of Molson. Sounds like heaven, eh?

Pot prices in Oklahoma have declined similarly.

I tried to determine if there is a link between pot prices and prevailing political climate in the state, e.g. Oklahoma is a fairly red state and prices happen to be low whereas California is mostly blue and over regulation seems to be working against the free market. Can't find many decent articles about consumer cannabis pricing trends. Most articles appear to be written as propaganda to support some viewpoint, either the grower business side, the government pro-regulate/tax faction, or with a general anti-cannabis bias.

The problem isn't "regulation bad". Some regulation is good. Regulations that require whatever's on the product's label to be accurate are good.

The problem in California is... regulations were more or less written by corporate interests to benefit bigger companies/growers over smaller operations. That's the free market in action too. Regulators and politicians are for sale. And there's plenty of people and corporations in Cali that can afford the price.

I've posted this before, but the HashWriter blog had a good write up about this phenomenon.

Cannabis Under Corporate Capture: The infiltration of American Democracy & False Funding

Low prices are great for consumers. But in one of those recent documentaries about the Cali weed market, small growers complained that the wholesale price of flower is now so low that they can't make a profit.

I remember a while back there was some study about what cannabis flower would cost if it was never made illegal. Basically... it would cost the same as tomatoes. Really hard to make a profit at those prices unless you're a large Monsanto loving corporation.

I'll also just say.... Florida is a Red State. There are more regulations on the cannabis market there than in CA. Because of a similar corporate pay to play environment.

Like tomatoes, it's also incredibly easy to grow. The grow process has been refined so much over the years to insane levels. Initial demand swelled the market, when you really only needed 1/5th, if that, of what was built for the long run. It does have the chance to be like the craft beer market, but it comes so easy, growers with unique strains will need to do limited grows or something I think to be able to charge more.

With that said, limited grows should be done periodically.

I dont want a strain i really like to go extinct after “a limited” grow. They need to be able to bring it back at some point. Just my ¢.02
