JCVAP "Pockety"

Hi all. I'm mostly a lurker and don't have friends that vape but I need to sing the praises of my brand new Pockety. I'm new to concentrates and have never experienced such a clean-tasting dab as I have with the Pockety and it's so efficient there's hardly any waste in the bucket.

Questions:
1) does anyone use a terp pearl or two in the chamber and if so what size?
2) do options for other/different carb caps exist?

Cheers!

Welcome to Pockety World!
Yes it’s definitely clean to taste AND to clean up. Which cup did you get?

You can use carb caps from the Puffco Pro lineup. Be sure to get it with its own silicone grommet cause it’s a different size than the one that comes with the unit.
I found the original carb cap and assembly to be difficult to deal with. It was too small to grasp for me and I ended up dropping it and breaking it…

Not sure pearls do much but others may have different opinions. One thing I love about the Pockety is how ezpz it is to clean, a couple qtip swipes after a hit and you’re done. It’s that efficient. For me, pearls just mean more things to clean.

I use a 3 or 4 mm sic pearl from ineedhemp I had on hand, not sure it’s a crazy difference but seems like a bit of a bigger cloud. Could be bias thou
I tried a 6mm ruby this morning, same observation so I need to experiment more. Dabs for science!

I have a few types of carb caps I'm going to try, for a while I was hyper-focused on the functionality of the various types...

Has anyone purchased the Klein Recycle and if so do you have a function video?

Also does anyone know where I could buy alternative glass for this that has percs?

Just a quick update to answer @Cheebsy on the VAT for my pockety.

I just received my pockety and I did not have to pay any additional duties or VAT. My total cost was 127, it was roughly £121 for the pockety and I paid like £6 in FX fees.

I wanted to get this out there in case anyone else wanted to take advantage of the 420 discounts.

I haven't tried it yet, so I will update you with a full review of the device and the ordering process later, but no real issues to speak of, apart from a delay with the delivery but this was caused by Hermes/Evri, not JCVAP.

Sure @JohnnyApplebees, here are my thoughts so far.

I have run around 20 dabs through the pockety since I got it and it has just been awesome. There are so many things to like with this e-rig; the heat-up times are so quick, mine reaches 550 within seconds.

The cleanup is a breeze, I have just been dry q-tipping to remove the majority of the residue with maybe a light iso swab to remove anything stubborn.

The flavour is outstanding on the quart dish I am using and I am picking up flavours I didn't notice previously when using a torch and banger (full disclosure I a not the best torch user and always found myself either overheating or underheating). I can't wait to see how some of the other dishes compare to this and I plan to order the ruby insert next.

I love the fact that the insert dish is pretty large and I can do normal-size dabs in there with no issues of spillover. have read about quite a few other e-rigs that will only take small amounts and that hasn't been an issue for me at all.

The pockety also seems to produce a lot more vapor than I can get through a torch and banger, I was hitting some wax earlier today and I dropped a dab that I could normally one shot in my bong there and this time I had to take it in 4-5 blasts to finish it each one just beautiful lung busting clouds of vapor.

I don't really have a way to measure the temp inside so I'm unsure how accurate the temp readings are but I have been really happy with the dabs I am getting and whatever the temp is it is consistent, which is just as if not more important in my opinion.

When I first got it there was definitely a whiff of silicone about it, even after washing and cleaning, and I could taste it on my first dab, but it was lost pretty quickly and I haven't noticed it since.

I also had some issues with delivery, John and JCVAP had sent my package out on a 2-day delivery using Hermes/Evri, however, they took ages to deliver my package and after 10 days I contacted JCVAP asking them to find out what was happening. They were a great help and after speaking to Evri got their act together and got my package to me 48 hours later.

Lastly, just to add some thoughts about the customer service as I know some people have been concerned by this. I had to contact JCVAP twice during the order and both times I use the live chat function on their website. As there is a large time difference between the UK and China I had to message between midnight and 2 am UK time and both times I got pretty prompt replies. I believe there is someone dedicated to the online help chat dealing with enquiries now.

The device also seems really well made, there is a nice heft to the pockety and the outer casing is made of metal, not plastic, the glass attachment is made of nice thick glass. The carry case it comes with is pretty handy and keeps everything nice and neat.

I love my pockety and I'm so happy I grabbed one, I think it is just phenomenal value and really can't recommend this highly enough.

Just arrived after a little less than 2 weeks of waiting. Initial thoughts before use:
-Cleaning all of atomizer is a recommended before first use
--not a fan that there was weird brown stuff under the insert in the vaporizer (tested/used before sending to me???) and carb cap had a relatively large fleck of dust inside it (rinsed out w just water)
-the case and everything in it was super nice, everything super clean except as mentioned

-charged up faster than I though it would

-one thing I haven't seen mentioned is the case strap which is very convenient for carrying by itself (thought I'd have to carry in my hand or a backpack)

going to go test it now

edit: I did message JCVAP ab the pre used atomizer and am waiting on a response

Few hours/sessions review:
My daily driver has been a ruby insert and ruby pearl w quartz banger and torch but struggled using the torch consistently and this review will be a comparison/initial thoughts
-have done carts a lot and there might be a few comparisons

TASTE
It is far better than just a quartz banger and tastes similar to my ruby insert+pearl
-I can achieve perfect temps for flavor vs cloud ratio each time, I rarely got this exactly how I wanted with my ruby+torch
-smoothness of Pockety ruby is better than my faceted DHGate ruby which means these less spots for concentrate to get stuck and burned (better taste at higher temps)

VAPOR
The size of this device means that the vapor is mixed with very little air so, even at temps that might be wispy in my RBR+banger, the vapor I get is similar to (not medium wattage) cartridge rips

It does not feel hot up to 500(didn't feel a need to go above) and I'm pretty sensitive to hotter temperature dabs

EASE OF USE/QOL
Very easy to figure out how to use and so simple I think my mom could figure this out and remember how to use it

no part that you can burn yourself or other things on

I'd bring this with me anywhere I wasn't worried about the smell of my rosin it's so easy to move around and requires so little water

Edit:
Taking apart the vaporizer was pretty hard to figure out at first but seems doable

CLEANUP
Mixed (good) feelings as a banger user
Every dab cleanup:
Smoothness of Insert makes cleanup so easy
-wipes easy with cotton swaps with only like 3 or 4 for perfectly clean

carb cap+washer/gasket thing around it more covered in reclaim than I would like
-this would be easy to wipe off without alcohol but because it doesn't warm up like normal carb caps do it hardens pretty fast

in comparison with carb cap+quartz banger I find OCD cleaning the pockety a bit harder
-no chazzing to worry about if accidentally leaving a small amount of concentrate behind after cleaning
--means I don't feel the need to OCD clean the pockety as much
-it is harder to take apart and fully clean than just taking out a pearl and ruby inset from a banger
--I struggled even with a video apart the atomizer but this is my first ever e device for vaping besides carts

The glass (so far) with semi cold water isn't collecting reclaim quickly like my dab rig does and I tend to use pretty warm water for that

Would love to know how this stacks up to a peak pro w/3d atty. Especially the ruby insert. This is now on my radar mostly for the ruby. I assume that the pockety w/ ruby insert taste is far better than the puffco ceramic? Or no?

Just about forgot that I own a Peak Pro (no Puffco 3d but do have the JCVAP ruby, SIC and others for it that are far better than stock IMO), so nice having full temp control on the vape...I do like the Puffco ball cap on the Pockety though.

Someone (I think in the Cricket thread) said there was a big temp swing or something, like 30f variation?
Not in my experience, no mention anywhere here of temp swings, the thermocouple keeps things constant(same as Peak Pro), pretty sure the Cricket does not use that tech...I gave up on dabbing off Ti a while ago, its ok but there are better surfaces available now.:2c:

It's in a different thread, I found it:

"Temp control used too wide a margin for me. Flashbacks to my Sai atomizer that seemed to vary around +/- 20 degrees from the set temp. So when the Pockety vendor replied that's expected, I shelved it."

I saw that post as well mate and it put me right off getting a pockety; but now that I own one this is not something I have noticed at all. It is able to get to and hold a really stable temperature.

I've been so happy since I got mine a little while ago and I have not reached for my glass bangers once since then!

Hey I really appreciate this feedback!

Does anyone know where to find a replacement silicone gasket that fits in the underside of the upper part of the chamber?

Thank you , @LesPlenty! can you tell me the specs of which size fits the chamber? I’m a bit wary of order from there cause I once got hacked using dhgate. I would rather order from you from Australia if you can part with a couple?

if so, let me know in a PM.

If not, maybe McMaster-Carr on this side of the world (I think) might carry them if I know the correct specs.

I purchased a Pockety for 420 and it has a rather odd quirk that happened after my first cleaning when the puff count was 50. Several dabs after the first cleaning, when I turned it on the top temp (bowl temp) was 807° F. So regardless of what I tried to heat to, the temp was already too high (bowl was cold to touch). After unscrewing the heater and re inserting it, I could get the top temp down to 200° F, but the bowl was still cold. What seemed to solve it is to take out my ruby bowl and put in the quartz. This makes it return to normal which also makes zero sense. The bowls are dumb and the unit has no idea what is in it. But it worked, multiple times now.
