Forgot to mention I also bought a 33mm (34 will also work) clear/white high temp silicone oring from AliExpress 3mm thick and put it on the bubbler chamber so it seals on the reclaim cup
Makes it perfectly airtight and produces better clouds
Cheap for a 10pack

AU $0.83 40%OFF | 10pcs Thickness 2/2.4/3/4mm White Rubber Seal Ring OD 5-80mm Heat-Resistant Food Grade Silicone O-Ring

Can you please tell/show us how you did this mod?
I can't upload pics here to show you but can try to explain

If you mean the silicone oring I just stretch it around the bubbler chamber part and it seats/seals where the reclaim cup meets

If you mean the sic dish mod @LesPlenty shared a video above using a similar dish
I bought an OG puffco peak polished sic dish from jcvap (mirror bottom, very easy clean)
I smashed open two ispire cups I had (either wand or Daab cups will do) to get the SS metal sleeve from inside
Slice one down the side and spread it wide enough to fit the 15.5mm sic dish, then using a hammer tap and "forge" around a bolt/microphone stand/any round pole about the right diameter to get a perfect round surface to surface fit on the peak dish
Cut the second SS sleeve and cut a section that is the correct size to fill the gap left around dish (only a small piece)
Tap with hammer the same way

I use an m6 316 ss washer under the sic dish and an m8 washer on the bottom of the recalim cup, slide the sic dish with ss sleeve into the reclaim cup, slip the extra piece in
It is a tight and perfect snug fit in the reclaim cup
Now it has polished 15mm sic dish with full surround heating

I heat it to 720 and then hold the Manual button while inhaling (needs longer heat time because of the extra metal mass)
Nice tasty clouds that hit and super easy clean up
Has made the Daab a really nice little beast

Almost there...
The taste of the Daab I'm thinking beats the switch by a tad because it's straight glass that the concentrate touches throughout the path vs. The ti cup, within the glass..
Damn you @ShayWhiteGrow !!!:D:D:D

I have been reading about using the TDE carb cap from the Switch with the Daab.
Just tried a dab at 420F using it and it was insane vapor!!
Back in rotation she goes!

Do you have the Sapphire cup for the Switch?
That is one tasty cup!

Yes and the AIN cup very tasty! But the daab has that little harshness from the ti not there if that makes sense:D same heating though, both induction. Very fast.

Got the Daab back in rotation the past couple days. Really loving it, so simple.

Watched a YouTube video by Asher's Rosin showing him cleaning the cups by dunking in ethanol immediately after use. Going to pick up a jar and ceramic tweezers this evening and give it a whirl. If it is as effective and easy as he made it seem I'm going to be using this thing constantly. Trying to stop drinking beer by dabbing much more, wish me luck!

Absolutely love my Daab
Once I modded it to run sic with full surround heating it was a beast and super easy clean
My pockety has retired it finally though, the true temp sensor control is something else with full surround heating and does all the work for you, and the taste/hit....wow

We are truly living in a time of great devices compared to days of past

cleaning the cups ...
I just use the ss dab tool that came with the package to stuff an iso pad into the cup right where it sits. Give it a good swab and done. You can pull the cup out easily if you want (don't grab with your fingers too quickly) and swab around the outside of the cup if needed.

My method is using a Q-Tip to pull the cup out - stick one end in the far end of the cup and the Q-Tip is a little lever to lift it out. I do this right away because any little residue in the cup makes lifting it easier.

The top glass part of the cup is easily cool enough to then grab, give it a quick wipe with the swap, give it a quick iso dunk, done.

Are you giving the hot cups any time to cool? Is there a worry about thermal shock or microfractures?

Dunking using tweezers has been a success and is easy. I typically heat under 450 degrees F. No issues with temperature shock so far.

I dunk the cup a couple times, pull out and hold with a paper towel while I swab the inside with one q tip. Done with cup. Dunk carb cap and wipe with paper towel, all done and ready for the next round.

Sorry for leaving that out. I leave the cup for a couple minutes on my table between swab and dunk. The heat seems to spread out and dissipate quickly, because within maybe 90 seconds it's just warm and okay to dunk.

Another (limited edition?) design! Astro Daab. I'm curious if the lights are different.

I got one of these recently (standard black one) and have been enjoying it. Was thinking about doing the SIC mod but would prefer something purpose built.

One of the things I was wondering is why don’t the standard cups heat from the bottom? I feel like it would be more efficient

Also any idea how to update the firmware? Mines on 00.13 but have seen a few pics with units on .15

Maybe to stop the concentrate from climbing the walls, I think that was Puffcos's excuse.
I experimented with washers and another cut up DAAB cup's metal and settled on no metal under the SiC anyway as it seems to heat more quickly with less battery use to boot!

I find the full surround heating works better for me with washers underneath as well as wall heating
@LesPlenty where did you get a SiC induction cup for the Daab?

Does induction heating only work from the sides?
A puffco peak OG polished sic dish from jcvap fits the Daab reclaim cup
You smash open two Daab cups to get the metal sleeve
Cut down the side and using a hammer forge the sleeve around a boot or round pole
Slide the dish in the sleeve and cut an extra piece to fill the gap in the wall
M8 and an m6 washer underneath for full surround heating

Works a treat

What is your cleaning routine like?

I've never dabbed off of Sic and don't know the proper care for it.

At the moment my routine with the Daab is so easy (and I'm so lazy) I'm hesitant to change it. But if the performance increase is worth the trade off in cleaning I will definitely give it a shot.

Hey @felvapes, what about using the jcvap titanium insert just as is in the reclaim chamber INSTEAD of the metal from the Daab cups?
Would that work with induction?
Do the Daab cups have some kind of proprietary metal embedded?

It gives a performance improvement
But the cleaning is also a big improvement with polished sic
Easy to mouth moistened qtip clean after a dab

Only some titanium will set off an IH usually you need SS
But going from quartz to Ti would be going backwards imo anyway
The sic is an upgrade for performance and ease of cleaning
The Daab cups have an SS sleeve to set the IH off and are already the perfect size for the job so that why I used them plus the SS washers underneath for 3d heating

The mod also gives you a full sized 15mm dish to dab with

Just to note again
It's the OG peak dishes that fit not the pro
The pro are a bit bigger OD and won't fit
