EVOLV Cricket

Recent update:
Now the cricket device constantly shows as “cap off” and no amount of finagling will get it to register the cap is on. There’s a moment while the cap is being applied where it shows the higher temp, but once seated reverts back to “cap off” and the lower temps. I’m kind of at a loss as to who to bring this info to besides y’all, the retailer I brought it from, or Evolv as it’s their product? Either way this one seems best left on the shelf for a while longer.

I’ve had this happen to me because my dabber threw the sensors off. I resolved it by locking and unlocking it.

If that doesn’t work you could also reset the device using escribe.

Why did you never share this with us while promoting it earlier?

Didn’t seem noteworthy to me. I induced the glitch on my own error by allowing another magnet to touch the sensor. It hasn’t happened since I just started scraping my dabs on top of the tub instead of trying to play around getting them right in the center.

Noteworthy to me
It's an issue

And even if it's an easy fix (although downloading software is t always easy for some) it would be good to have mentioned so people who have one know about it and what to do
Or potential buyers

Not mentioning it is weird to me

I just locked an unlocked the device and it was fine. Not sure what you’re going on about, dude. It’s not my responsibility to detail everything on here. Sheesh.

I’ll try resetting through escribe, but locking and unlocking didn’t work, and I only ever use the tool provided. Even if resetting on my computer works, this is a huge issue, especially if you don’t have access to a computer regularly. Will update if this fixes the issue.

I'm not going on about anything mate
But you have made many extremely detailed posts and description
But never mentioned this
I’d argue they never mentioned any downsides ever, like a salesman.

I also induced the glitch using the included dabber (it’s magnetic for storage purposes). And IMO with the magnetic r^2 law, it’s not a problem if you’re aware it could happen. I haven’t had it happen to me since. But if your device is stuck in a loop, that’s a different problem I’ve never experienced.

If resetting it in escribe doesn’t work it’s possible you have defective / broken sensor? sounds like a warranty claim to me.

Also, due to r^2 any physical perturbations off-setting the cap will cause the error your describing as well (although you probably aren’t having that problem it’s worth mentioning anyways)

If you don’t feel the need to provide objective coverage (i.e. both the positive and negative) I personally feel that this thread would benefit from no further contributions from you. Hyping how amazing this device is while not mentioning negative issues (like this clearly not-ready-for-prime-time error message) is shilling, whether you’re being compensated or not*.

*and if you’re not, that’s honestly worse (and far weirder).

I’ve been objective the entire time.

Windows: https://downloads.evolvapor.com/SetupEScribe2_SP46_INT.exe

Mac:

Linux:

Introduces ramp times (1.5-20 second) and changes how the device registers cap on / off.

So now it has to be hooked up to a computer to function or fix properly
That's another good noteworthy thing some may have liked to know before purchasing
Not everyone has access regularly and not everyone is a whiz

While it may be simple for a lot of people
It's good to share this info for those that may not be so tech savvy and they can make informed choices on what products they buy as a result

If your definition of “objective” includes willfully omitting negative aspects of the user experience (and an error that needs to be manually patched via pc on a just-released device is certainly a noteworthy negative) then I stand by my opinion that your contributions regarding this device are tainted to the point of uselessness (or worse).

I didn’t omit anything. The error I experienced was no where near the extent 80sixe had. Mine was resolved within 30 seconds and had a clear cause. His persisted 24hrs. Does that’s sound the same to you??

Sorry I didn’t come on here and write about it But again, it’s not my job to do so anyways.

But I did note the splatter was bad due to instant heat up. And guess what? It got “patched” with the addition of ramp times (as some on here suggested)

Tweaking wax devices is nothing new if you’re into using ecig mod/ atomizers. People who use DNA mods to run V5 are already familiar with using escribe. And TBH I’m sick of fiddling with atomizers hence why I’m so enthusiastic about the cricket. Call me weird tho I guess LOL.

I can’t wait to read back on this thread in a year ahaha

Evolv should absolutely pre-load the softer heat up curve on to this device. That's the experience most users will want.

Does that mean there's a plan to roll the product out beyond midwest brick and mortar shops?

Like I mentioned in the beginning of the thread, these will be in National distributors hands at some point but I’ve got no clue when that is.

The devices will ship with the latest firmware.

Future updates will include user created custom heat profiles (adding multiple screens) so you could switch between heating profiles for different concentrates directly on the device (by using escribe to create you custom profiles to load on to the device) ((sorry if that’s too “technical” or requires you to be “tech savvy” LOL))

@80Sixed , why don’t you tell them about the nice conversation you had with Brandon?

Power users being able to customize their experience is fine. It just shouldn't be required for every user to get a good experience without too much splatter.

Having that ability built into the device without having to sideload would appeal to a broader market, I don't even know what escribe is...and I do not want to:2c:

Yeah, I was more commenting on the weird “hey user X, please tell the class about…” phrasing, not so much the fact that user X was in contact with the manufacturer. Like, user X in this case is clearly following the thread. Why not let them speak for themselves, rather than [gestures at all the weird shit in this thread that preceded the current weird shit]?

I thought you were commenting on the fact user Z knew user X had a conversation with the manufacturer. That seemed strange to me.

Device seems interesting, but a bit pricy and not quite out of beta phase. Comments from other owners who don’t appear to be product ambassadors will be refreshing and, hopefully, mostly positive.

I picked one of these up and got it over the weekend. I've only used it a few times, but I like it so far.

I haven't updated it yet, however I knew coming in that I was getting a pretty early release of the device. I'm ok with updating it and I'm glad that new devices will ship with the newest firmware. Personally I've had to update other electronics I've purchased throughout the years and I don't think it's that big of a deal.

As for the device itself, it's thin with a familiar hand feel and decent heft to it. It reminds me of holding an iPhone 4; the one with the flat metal sides. Flavor is good with decent vapor production. I've only used it in the high 400s and the vapor is cool and smooth with no harshness.

I did experience the issue where the welds on the trench are catching on a q-tip. It's a little annoying, but I switch to some small alcohol swabs with much better results.

I don't regret the purchase, but I also dont know if I would still be happy if I paid more than what I did. Still need much more testing to form a complete opinion on this device.

Were you in on the group buy or did you find a discount?
