Yesterday I said anyone and everyone who defends the cops in a post-Uvalde world has worms in their brain. More proof I'm right.

uvalde-cop-looks-phone.jpg

No single image has more perfectly demonstrated the gap between how cops view themselves, and what they actually are. This dumb, fat pussy staring at his Punisher phone while listening to the screams of children being murdered due to his cowardice.
More proof you're wrong:

So, he's not a "dumb, fat pussy."

This is why it's important to wait for facts before slandering someone; not just react with a narrative that's appealing to you.

Yeah, I don't think waiting outside while children AND one of their wives are being murdered is any better. It's actually much, much worse. I stand by everything I said.

The story says the Punisher phone cop tried to rush the classroom. Maybe that's true. But the cops have lied about this event about a dozen times so far. I'd be willing to cut this guy a little more slack than his peers.... if he immediately resigned and blasted the entire department to the press.

We understand he had a great loss, his wife, and the utter sadness and irony.

The story does not tell whether he was a pussy or not.
But okay, let's give this man a pass.

How about the dozens of other protect and servers? Are we now to give them all our sympathy?
Actually, I'd say a fair number of them may need some counseling to work through the trauma of not taking action while they knew shit was still going down.

Something clearly was very wrong in the response. I look to the leadership, not the foot soldiers.

Let's await more facts before we see about the leadership. But it sure doesn't look good.

Meanwhile, guns are among the leading killers of children in the US?
I think that we collectively, because we can't work this out, are worse than dumb fat pussies.

The end of the Newsweek article says Uvalde wants to put fences around the schools and add more school police for protection. That sounds more like imprisoning the students to "protect our 2nd amendment right" to..... walk around with assault weapons?

The foot soldiers generally don't wait for orders before they empty their clips into the backs of fleeing suspects.

We know more than enough at this point to pass judgement on the Uvalde PD. I'm sorry this one guy lost his wife. But his peers bear a ton of responsibility for her death. And the reason he caught shit was because of his Punisher phone. Cops believe they're the Punisher. In reality, they are mostly useless pussies.

The City of Uvalde gives them 40% of their budget to buy military hardware. If this situation doesn't warrant them actually using it, what would?

Being unarmed. Cops and criminals love unarmed victims but tend to avoid confrontation with armed individuals. Cops, criminals and politicians (one in the same these days) fear an armed public plain and simple and thier actions prove it over and over again.

The simple fact the "Punisher" didnt even act while his wife was dying tells you all you need to know. He had a gun, body armor and family in jeopardy and be didnt make anyone shoot him to stop him from attempting a rescue, punisher my ass, more lkke the cowardly lion. Unfortunately there was a 18 year old punk kid with a gun and that completely neutralizes the punisher outside of comic books. and movies. Maybe its time to realize that made up super heroes aren't the answer to real world issues . No superheros are coming to save you, its up to you....

From the Newsweek article that @Summer posted.
"Ruiz attempted to enter the classroom to save his wife, but was detained by fellow officers who confiscated his gun and 'escorted him off the scene.'"

I read the article, and I stand by tbe assessment, exactly how did they magically detain him and confiscate his weapon? They certainly didnt have the numbers to handle a kid with no armor or training but they were able to detain him? Why didn't they simply detain the punk and confiscate his weapon? Clearly they were more scared of the untrained unarmored kid than one of thier own in armor (which tells you all you need to know) . It also speaks to the fact everyone wants to be a operator until the time to operate arrives (Mr punisher and friends are a shining example of this). The punisher allowed himself to be disarmed. How hard would it have been to simply state, " you fuckers know me, you have a better chance against that kid than me, my wife is wounded, kids are dying, either you're going to have two firefights today when you have to shoot me (and still have the punk to deal with) or you can join me."

At the end of the day this ain't a police problem. It's a societal problem. Our society is fucked up and our police come from that same group of people raised with the school systems zero tolerance for violence policies (while handing out participation trophies.) Those cops are just a symptom of societies illness.

The CURRENT NATIONWIDE SOP on active shooter in a school is to rush to the shooter, alone if necessary, and engage immediately. Ignore asking for authorization, guidance, approval etc. The POLICY is to simply run to the shooter and engage. It is not a nuance, it is literally the primary directive in an active shooter secnario, it has been hammered into all police departments for over 20 years.

Either move to the sound of gunfire or get tbe hell out of the way, but you damn sure don't detain the only guy trying ( no matter how pitifully) to follow procedure.

Why isn't the first question here, "says who?" The Uvalde cops have been caught in many, many lies since this whole thing started. They've lost the right to be believed on anything.

Also there was that story of a mother the cops were trying to prevent from going into the building to get her kids. She managed to evade them and save her loved ones just fine.

I feel bad his wife died. But if my coworkers prevented me from saving my wife, I'd quit and tell everyone who will listen how incompetent and cowardly they are. To the best of my knowledge, the Punisher guy has not.

Also, fuck any cop who has the Punisher as his phone background. Not exactly a role model "peace" officers should be following.

From a news article today:

"Getting reinfected with the coronavirus may increase long-term health consequences over time.

Even just one infection with the coronavirus is associated with increased risk of long-term death and other symptoms of illness."

So if there is a risk of long term death, what about short term death?

I think if you're fully vaxxed and boostered, if you get the new variants it will be short-term death. Maybe a few weeks.

But if you're unvaccinated, forget it, you're never coming back and will be dead for good.

That makes it sound like only the true believers in Dr Fauci will be resurrected. I'm pretty sure I've heard a similar claim somewhere else before.

Seriously though, not to make light of a serious subject, trust the science and get your shots/boosters, and don't miss a singe chance to avoid long term death.

Take this with a massive grain of salt, because these people are massive bullshitters:

I'm in a group text chain with some finance and tech executives in SF and NY. They're saying if you managed not to catch it yet, keep wearing a N95 mask. There's rumblings that so called "long COVID" will end up disabling a significant percentage of the recovered. So if you can just tough it out a little longer, you'll be at a significant competitive advantage going forward. Because your brain won't be as damaged as those suffering from long VID's....

But even more importantly, you'll be in a great position to scoop up residential real estate at a discount. After all the millions of new disabled people can no longer afford their mortgage payments. I haven't put too much thought into this shit lately but it was pretty chilling to see this coming from some fairly serious people.

The only comforting thought to me was that this country is in no way prepared for a mass disabling event. Buying up cheap property won't help those pricks if the whole house of cards comes tumbling down. And hopefully they're wrong. Long COVID is a thing though. And it was never a lung disease. It's a blood disease that usually attacks the lungs. But also the brain, heart, fuck knows what else.

I don't think the last page on COVID has been written yet, unfortunately. It's entirely possible China's draconian containment measures are gonna look really smart in retrospect after a decade or two.

I think your friends are overestimating the percentage of people who get long Covid. This is anecdotal, but I know one person who got long Covid, and it was from the original variant. And as bad as it was, he was still able to return to work.

Your friends further tieing it to the housing market makes me think they're really shooting from the hip on this one. I think baby boomers getting older in the future is much more likely to impact the housing market.

That whole get the booster shot to avoid long term death was bugging me then I remembered why.. Both Amazon and the CDC are concerned about the short term death issue as well.

Long term death means you're dead for good, but short term death means you'll be back! Zombies🧟‍♂️

The CDC has some tips.

And Amazon has a Zombie clause!

I guess the question has become, To be a zombie or not to be a zombie.

Sounds like investing in REITS that are involved with elder care would cover both posts. If covid doesn't help fill these facilities in the future... us boomers are already lending a hand. You might want to wait for an opportune point relative to the recent volatility in interest rates as many of these REITS have fallen and may have farther to fall.

I was never a fan of buying up other peoples misery. Like all the ghouls buying foreclosed houses during the market crash.

Maybe I have a sensitive moral switch but I don't think I could stomach getting rich that way, no matter how rich it made me.

Wilbur L. Ross, Jr, Trumps commerce secretary, may have been one of the grossest examples of that.

YMMV...

Maybe. This is what they're referring to.

I think where they're really shooting from the hip is speculating on future outcomes from having long COVID. Maybe everyone who got a bad case of COVID will be totally fine. Or maybe they experienced blood vessel damage that will cause major health problems in 5-10 years. We might be sitting on a ticking time bomb. If all the boomers leave the workforce over the coming decades... plus 10% of the people who caught COVID...

I think/hope they're full of shit. But it's uncharted waters.

I agree they're ghouls. But we as a society have decided to incentivize ghoulish behavior. When the market turns those properties will bring in a nice rental income. Maybe enough to buy a few politicians. Ensure those ill gotten gains are protected.

Seriously big bucks in human trafficking, selling heroin and meth, stealing and selling or chopping exotic autos, and child pornography. I knew a woman/girl who when having a hard financial time decided that masturbating on only fans or other exploitive sites was a "decent" way to get rich in the short term. 4 years later she is still there, but her money worries were over after the first year.

There are lots of ways to make a lot of money if you have no conscience or sense of morality (or maybe if you just have a "different" one). I don't think it serves us very well to normalize them. Maybe I'm just old school...
