Vlad/508Phineas Glass thread

Aw snap! I forgot I had this thread going!:lol:

Customs are down for the moment but I always like hearing from my peeps so I'm going to try to use this thread to periodically post past customs (i.e. just glassporn) just to give you all an idea of what I've been up to. I am much more active on Instagram, so feel free to DM me @508Phineas

Here are some Prototype UD glass pieces I made earlier this year, the one on the left is for the Standard core and the four on the right are all Alpha core. While these are NFS they could be parts of future projects.

I will take several of those dimpled Alpha stems please........color options would be spectacular.

yeah I have people that will use my borosilicate vigreux adapters backwards on the TM, and yeah as long as the temps don't go into the 900F range the glass should be fine, in this case proper annealing will add life to the glass. Quartz usually doesn't get annealed unless you work at factory because the annealing point is so high. And there is colored quartz like ruby quartz, I have a tiny piece someone gave me but I haven't worked with it. most people who want heady quartz either sand blast clear or do some kind of sculpting with it from what I've seen. but generally its prohibitively complicated and expensive to fuse heady glass to quartz.

Oh yeah, needed a place to share these customs ;)
The pink glass is subtle, but:love:

That underdog stem mouthpiece is working fantastically as a sticky brick runt stem mouthpiece!!

I bought this canarywood runt without any glass, and you really delivered my man, making this piece pretty ultimate...

Also LOVING these light blue variations on the vigreux cooler with sipper mouthpiece:

Thank you again Phineas/Vlad

Ok I'll have to give the give the sippers a go. On my to do list.
Hey @Vlad the Inhaler, any way to make one of the sipper stems a single-piece, male fit for Milaanas but at the same length as the stem + adapter combo? Might turn out to be another case of less is more (1 piece stem as opposed to stem + adapter). Not sure if it can be done but I'd be happy to provide some r&d funding if it would encourage a little experimentation. I enjoy the stealth of the Milaanas (the Mi 2 being best in this regard as it easily fits standard pant pockets). The stealth feature goes away with the longer stems needed to provide cooler vapor. And as @NimChimpsky mentioned (in the Milaana thread I think) the Nubs, as nice a stem as they are, don't quite do the trick with the hotter-end Milaana vapor.

If I understand correctly, you're after a sipper mouthpiece with a vapor path length similar to one of those full length pieces plus an adapter, but pocket sized? I would have to make it do a 180 u-turn bent back down to the bottom of the unit, kind of like a mini jaylock. I can't take on any customs at the moment but That's how I would approach this, I'd need some pretty close measurements, or maybe a stencil of the unit?

Hi Vlad good luck in the accessory vape business, I think a lot of people want to buy an OG glass symphony...
if you would be able to make a 3-way boro glass body that stands in the same line with the bottom tip of the heater it will make a really Og symphony back to life. there is a list with all the parts but when you build it you notice that the 3-way body that you order from Ali express are too short in his middle part and the glass tip of the heater cartridge is longer than the 3-way body and make uneven vape.

That sounds fucking awesome, but I thought he was basically just asking for a longer 19/19 male vigreux stem that had a sipper style mouthpiece instead of being open?

Either or; I wouldn't complain ;)

But yea, I'm thinking of cooling stem like the sipper above that would mate directly with the Mi instead of having to employ an adapter. The Nub does it but I'd like a little more cooling power, which I'm thinking the sipper might have if I'm reading folks' feedback correctly.

Yeah, but have you tried a regular vigreux stem? Then you can get one now and don't need custom... The mouthpiece is just straight stem and they do cool great!

I think @Shit Snacks has the simplest answer, the 19/19 vigreux adapters I make dissipate a surprising amount of heat, and I have a convenient pocket size too now. I have a tendency to overlook the simple solution and overcomplicate things

@cosimo I haven't had the chance to chase the holy grail of the all glass vapor path but I am trying to figure out a cost-effective way to do it...

@Aero I'm sure I could make you one, but if I understand you correctly and you're looking to get something off the shelf, you want to see if you can find a "3-way distillation adapter," they make them in a bunch of different sizes and dimensions and most lab glass supply places have them. That's what I love about the glass symphony is that its more or less made with off the shelf parts.

Apologies in advance for the double post,

Here's another personal past project (circa 2019?) that I'm only just posting now. This is probably the smallest tube I've put the vigreux indents on, and while its not perfect, it definitely takes a lot of the "bite" out of my Dynavap. Definitely something I need to sink more time into.

Working glass takes a lot of planning, practice and finesse, its not really something that you just let the material tell you what you want it to do, and it does it. Sometimes I have ideas I have to shelf for a while until I can figure out how to make what is in my head. All in all working glass is kind of like learning a new skate trick or song on an instrument for each new piece.

I'm pretty proud of my DIY Induction Heater too, definitely an upgrade over the desk-lighter I was using before! Its probably not a surprise, but I did the glass in the IH. (Trust me you don't want to see the inside, my wiring scares even me) :science:

It’s interesting how most of the reclaim in the pic above is condensing before the vapor hits the cooling section.

Good observation, I hadn't noticed that before!

I think that could be because I leave it mostly standing vertical in the IH when its not in use, or maybe because that's where most of the vapor just gets trapped between pulls? In a chemistry setting they use these vigreux columns as part of fractional distillation to separate vapors of different densities. Actually, I wonder if the composition of the claim changes as you go up the glass? Food for thought, and claim for spacemilk.

Hey all! I'm reviving this thread again (again) to show y'all what I've been working on recently, however I keep sending off things without taking pics first

I have a couple back burner projects (like Tinymight and others) I want to share with you eventually too (they're just not quite out of applied sciences R&D, you know, Fox's department...)

anyhoo enough with the dated movie reference, here are some 19/19 vigreux adapters for now,

Have you ever thought about making custom stems that could fit an arizer product? Not sure if the demand is there for them but I know I'd love one that can fit in my Musa 510.

Ahh yeah... the issue with the glass for those is that, from what I can tell, they are made with a process called "tooling," at least the part that fits into the Musa 510, and I don't have the tool to tool those tools.

I did make a whip set for my Arizer EX Q now that you mention it, I know that's probably not what you're asking though!

Cross posting from the Milaana thread:

Couldn’t resist the short stem. Have to admit, I bought it almost as much for the looks since I don’t mind the heat, but the first few loads have been a def upgrade, esp. with that sipping style taper.

Also, extra props to @Vlad the Inhaler. Had a little hiccup with the order and he sorted it out quickly and classily. 👍
