Tafée Bowle

A few of us have joked about a larger battery: just throwing this out there..... there are a few little easter eggs regarding "Bowle+" on the Tafee website... :science:

hmm not super encouraging if they are already writing a sequel. are we beta testing again? mostly kidding.

I did see a review vid where the guy opened it up and said something like "that's an RC pack". I assume that he meant radio control (car) battery pack... but I wouldn't want to hack a device this expensive while it was still under warranty

Still experimenting, today one hitters but no luck with that at least with what I was doing. Went with my usual tinymight load size of .05 and tried it at level 4 but quit hiting when I would get a little tickle and it took 3 hits to finish the avb as far as I would in the tm and stirred every hit. Next I tried at level 3 , timing out the heater and continuing to hit after sucking every bit of heat off the heater and clearing the stem, took two hits and a stir but I got most of the bowl what was left was better suited to a firecracker then another hit. This is what I was expecting but it doesn't make me like the Bowle any less really, it satisfied some things that the tinymight doesn't and the tinymight scratches some itches the bowle can't reach. Still my avb wouldn't be nearly so even if I didn't stir so much, not that I really mind but I do feel like the browning on the top of the bowl could be a little more even. What do you guys think? This is it after a full duration, level 3, hit, should that be a little better?

This is the avb at the end of the same session, stirring every hit, 3 full hits.

I was thinking the same thing.
I think you should send that top pic to Taffe
The thing my shity camera doesn't really show is that the bottom of the bowl is at least partially vaped and is a little more yellow then shows and with stirring every hit it's pretty even and tan like my crafty poo.

Yep, that’s definitely not in the same ballpark as what I’m getting.
Thanks this isn't exactly what I wanted to hear but I'm glad you replied . But I am getting pretty big rips so it is doing something but I do feel like it could be better. Guess I'll see what tafée says

if the costumer service is as excellent as I've heard, don't be too discouraged, but don't be complacent either. if you're not satisfied, let them know, let them make it right. sometimes I don't know what some of these companies would do without us

to everyone giving honest feedback in here, good or bad, - thank you. I 'like' bad feedback the most because most people don't want to say mean things about the shiny new toy they just bought. but if we don't keep it real, we are no better than reddit

@Bad Dog I don't have my Bowlé yet but does anyone else thing the grind looks a little too fine? I know with my other convection vapes like TM, Mi2, Splinter Z and so on I get uneven and unvaped herb if it's too fine. Just a musing, rather than a reliable suggestion.
I did use a fine grind to make it the most noticeable but it's the same with my usual light course. Good eye

as I read these comments I keep thinking about the early days of the miniVAP. they had issues with consistency, where some units would work great, but others, not so great. but it was insidious, because the bad units would still "work", just not very well, so it was sometimes hard to tell if there was anything wrong with the unit, or if that's just how it was supposed to be. got to the point were I remember some folks were convinced that the mV was supposed to work that way, and just produce a lighter blue vapor. I can't mention this without also saying how the folks at mV (Jorge) were very easy to work with and always honored their 2 year warranty and replaced faulty units. I went through a few units, but in the end, its one of my all time favorites

am I ready to be hurt again? can't say it wasn't worth it in the end
That's the thing with my old puck, it was doing the job and I was happy with it.
If it wasn't for the vape having problem with shutting off when inhaling I would have never think twice about it.
But now that I've compared two units together I can see it wasn't working the way it should.
I don't mind having problem with a new product, as long as they company stand behind their product and find solutions to the problem, as long as it's not a never ending series of problems.
Time will tell with the Bowle, but so far the new puck is working great.

I use a medium grind. I do a light tamp on each pot. I fill all 4 pots in the metal potter and tamp each one just before I place it in the stem. Sometimes I use the potter to do an initial fill, open the potter, lightly tamp all 4 pots and turn the potter a few more times to top it off.

My pots are all finished off at level 4 and I never stir. I get a little char at the top of the pot and the rest looks like ground coffee. There is some uneven roasting based on the visible char but not enough to turn stirring into a part of my ritual because..... When I first got it I would stir once per pot but after a few times without stirring and finishing at level 4 and there not being any goodness left in the pot... I settled in to not stirring. Maybe my draws are longer and slower than those having to stir or maybe I use level 4 more, or maybe my unit runs hotter or maybe I'm just lazy.
I could be thinking about this incorrectly but I don't equate uneven AVB at the end of a pot as a problem unless stirring would give me another productive hit or I can see some herb that isn't browned.

I emptied and refilled my pots/potter this morning so I lost the ability to take pics of my AVB .... the next potter fill I'll take some AVB pics.

My vote for weirdest new vape. This product does not seem targeted to the FC crowd.

Instead of a drinking glass, they should have engineered water cooling into it.
My vote would be for the most Innovative new vape. The “cool” thing about this vape is that the vapor is already cooled by design and while water cooling would be fun, it’s not necessary. :science:

I think it’s kind of endearingly absurd, like something out of a Monty python sketch. Random. Then I slowly realize that I do drink water every time I vape, and I begin to think about hanging out with my wife or my friends while sporting this ridiculous, excellent vape-cup thing, and how much fun I could have with that. When I bust this thing out, people are going to make funny looks and laugh. And then maybe they will be like “wait wtf? This thing is cool?”

i think I would like to chill with the space cadet who dreamed this thing up

Yeah I do not equate even extraction with defective product per se, there are so many variables and many products don't always have consistency as a result... I don't know to me your unit looks fine @Bad Dog?

What could go wrong?

I think you quoted my earlier post in this thread, before I actually had one of myself, so just to clarify I am fairly certain now with it in person that they designed the vape and then realized it would lend itself to including the glass is all... Since I ordered mine without the drinkware and of yet to use it!

I spent the week end playing with the old and the new pucks before sending the old one back to Tafée.
The results were very interesting, I'm gonna show you parts of the email I send them since I don't want to rewrite everything:

The airflow on the old puck is a lot more restricted than on the new one. I knew as soon as I took my first draw on the new puck and I even took out the stem immediately and put it on the old puck to see if it was the packing of the herb that was doing this but the airflow was back to feel restricted.
I guess that's why the puck would shut off when I was using the "press and release" method, sometimes there's not enough airflow to activate the sensor. Even if I do a pre-heat it would shut off and sometimes in the middle of the session when it should already be hot enough.
So far the new puck is working like it should, it only shut off one time and it was because I had slowed down my inhalation speed. Also I never do a pre-heat. (They asked me to do a pre-heating of the vape before the first draw, just press and release and wait for the heater to shut down.)

I was already in love with the Bowle but now with this open airflow it's on another level. Much easier on my lungs when I inhale, I have old smokers lungs so they can be picky and the old puck would leave me with a little discomfort in the chest because I would need to work harder to get my vapor. The taste of the vapor also took a bump and is better than ever.

I did some tests on the battery life using the same quantity of herb in both vape and using a stopwatch to make sure my timing was the same. When I did this last time the results were not good because I was counting in my head so forget what I wrote in my last message.

My results for the "press and hold" method were: OLD 4 cups and 3 puffs at level 1, NEW 5 cups and 3 puffs at level one and 1 puff at level 2
My results for the "press and release" method were: OLD 3 cups and 3puffs at level 1, NEW 4 cups and 3 puffs at level 1 and 3 puffs at level 2

As you can see I'm getting a full session more with the new puck. I always thought that the bowle should have enough battery life to give me 5 sessions since there's 5 cups coming with it and the Potter. The old puck would always give me 4 sessions at best, so I'm fully satisfied with this result. My battery life was even worse because of the constant shut off, all those 3-4 seconds heating weren't enough to produce vapor but they were depleting the battery each time so that's why I would always be taken by surprise when I would need to recharge the vape.

As for the button cutting off when using the press and hold method it didn't happen but I was mainly using the other method so it could still be a problem for me. In this case I think I might be the problem. I had several operations on my hands and as a results my finger strength can be a problem some days.
I did compare both buttons and they act the same way, if I press on them and slowly release the pressure the heater will cut almost immediately, it will take a little more time to continue releasing the pressure before the button will click. In my mind the heater should cut when the button clicks or at least right before it clicks. Right now for me it's too easy for my hand to relax a bit after pressing the button and have the vape shut off. Like I said this wouldn't be a problem if it didn't result in a need to recharge the battery faster, on a vape with limited battery life this matters a lot.

Hm what you're saying about the sensor and airflow, probably indicates I could be getting a replacement as well... Mine is not really bothering me much though, like if I mess up a hit it's not hard to take another one? Ehhh

My Urologist has me peeing through a strainer in an attempt to capture the kidney stone. I think I just found an appropriate use for the cup. Don't have to run to the bathroom when I have the urgency to pee right away.

When the hell is this damn stone going to pass? When to a graveside funeral yesterday and while in attendance had that urgency to pee. Tried to find an inconspicuous place to pee. I may have peed on someone's grave. Felt bad about it but I didn't have a choice.

Still enjoying the Bowle. Like to order a spare mouthpiece. Hope it's offered soon.

Love the interview with Troy and Jerry. Great being able to put a face to the company, and to hear the thought process behind the design. Especially cool to see someone follow through with a dream, and execute it so well, very inspiring.
The whole cup thing makes a lot more sense when you hear him describe how they settled on that, too.

Awesome video! Tafee is the way in 2021! Being a medical user as many of you, consistency is of utmost importance as well as terpene extraction to get all the healing properties out of our cannabis.

Now after a month or so it’s my main driver and the only time I use another vape is when its charging. It’s hands down the easiest portable to use IMO and extraction is out of this world! It seems each temp setting has something different to offer.
The glass has now gotten me to drinking more water which for any person who vapes is a good thing! I’m super excited to see what is to come from this innovative company!
