Anybody have any concerns of possible cracking of the crucible by putting the stem in the freezer? Any tiny faults in the ceramic bowl will be exacerbated with the extreme difference in temperatures? Just thinking out loud here.

Oh yeah no one was talking about putting the ceramic chamber pots in the freezer, just the aluminum steel stem piece! That has been my concern with glass as well, but yeah nothing to worry about with metals.

- After getting choked out like that at level 2....maybe I need to try the level 1 temp as others have suggested since level 2 can produce like that.

Yes! Try level one people, it extracts plenty on its own! If you really want a treat, load a full bowl of your tastiest herb, and take a long draw on level one, thick tasty clouds!

An update from the manufacturer on the battery charge level and passthrough charging:

"The battery will discharge faster than the charger will charge the battery when plugged in use. So if the user has 25% of the battery left and is using the device plugged in, chances are depending on how hard the user goes, the battery will cut off from low power faster than it recharges itself. The battery cut off during low battery is mainly to protect the high discharge battery. Even when the puck says it's completely discharged, there is still about 30% of power juice left in the cells, but the high cut off restrictions means the battery will be protected and last much longer throughout the device lifetime."

So...while there may be an extra bowl hiding in the battery, this will ensure the battery lasts a lot longer. Passthrough charging works best when it's more than a third charged up.

Oh nice! I figured there was some sort of production like that going on for battery longevity, I was also wondering if there was any sort of buffer on the top end, so that when it seems fully charged maybe it is actually a little below, for the same reason??

Speaking of use out by the pool....has @ataxian seen this vape yet?
I bet he has been watching!
Ya @ataxian where you at my dude! This one has your name written all over it. I'm confident the Bowle will pass the "civilized" test :science:
If it's civilized, he will be sure to say so.
So do I. Bedside vape sounds terrific. My bedside tools now, for ease are all wax mods and pens.
This is looking great!
I'd have to go with the Bowle now.
Me too.
Have a great day!
I plan to. I just got the call from a Walgreens Fedex pick-up location, that my Tafée Bowle is waiting for my arrival.
Why am I here typing when I could be driving???
See Ya!

Thanks for the update @stickstones . I don't mind the measures they're taking to protect and preserve the battery. I know from years of using high-discharge batteries in quadcopters and r/c cars that you really need to baby the batteries to get the most out of them.

I just wish that it had a bit more juice.

Do you know when/if they'll start offering replacement parts? I want to do some experiments, but not on my only stem!

My first impression are really goooooood! instant on-demand.

I have the short stem and have been enjoying maxing out the heater timer (23 seconds?) on level 4. Can finish a loose pack half bowl with 1 hit or a full pack bowl in 3-4. I'm wondering though if it's getting hot enough. From earlier reports, I read level 4 should be like a fire breathing dragon, and I don't find it uncomfortable at all, it's smooth?

Here's a photo of the darkest ABV I've been able to get.

My question to you FC is...Should it be darker? This is about where I normally like to take my ABV so I'm fine if that's the limit, but my impression was that it would go darker and 4 would be hotter.

Looks good to me brother! Perhaps I should try starting at level 4 then, for science, and see if it kills me... :science::ko:

Level 4 is just on the higher end of warm to me and is not what I would consider hot or too hot. There are folks who feel differently. I'm not surprised because I've had folks tell me that my personal temp senses are calibrated lower than theirs. Not long ago someone said a vape was too hot on their lips and it didn't bother me in the least. Considering level 4 is 464F that's amazing cooling whether you're me or someone that can "tolerate" it.

When I finish off a pot at level 4 my ABV is a little darker and has more black char in it. When I finish off at level 4 I take draws until there is no vapor and then take one more.

Haha ok thanks guys!!! More testing is needed.

I think my first bowls were ground a bit too fine. I excitedly stuffed too much in the potter.

I’m back to medium fluffy bcg grind. I’ve been playing with draw speed. My first bowl the bowle kept shutting off on me until I drew at a consistent level.

I think I’ve settled on my natural draw which is medium-fast. Was doing about 10second draw to begin with but now they are about 15-20seconds. I’m still kinda all over the place playing around

Yesterday I was regretting buying another vape. Today those regrets have disappeared.

I'm finding the exact same thing. Getting noticeable vapor starting at level 2 but I have no problem if I start ripping long and hard on level 4 with no problems what so ever with heat.

Watch out Dusty.... I've got some charging to do!

Does anyone know what the rectangular red gaskets are for?
They came with the extra screens and round "pot" gaskets.

Oh shit... the battery is already charged!
But the camera battery is dead...
It just goes to show you....
"It's always something!"
Back when camera battery is charged.

Nice!

Mine only arrived partially charged, so I still plugged it in to fully charge before first use...

The rectangular gaskets were just mentioned to be part of the bottom of the stem assembly, if taken apart for cleaning.

I never received extra gaskets or screens with my Bowle. Not too worried.

There's a certain approachability with the Bowle -- doesn't freak people, blends in. That was the design goal, IMO. Ease of use, effectiveness, speed, and cool comfortable vapor seal the deal. Said it before, funny name, funny look, great f'in vape. But, maybe Jerry @stickstones can ask how the Toronto Tafée team pronounces the names of their company and their great f'in vape?

IMO, Bowle has two “genius level” features.
First and foremost is the stem construction that gives the vapor a coolness and smoothness that seem impossible without a water bubbler. 💦

The stem has big volume and a massive amount of cooling area and volume . The stem has its normal internal surface cooling area walls PLUS 4 long additional surfaces that hang from the ceiling.
These long cooling fins run almost the full length AND vapor hits both sides so effectively 8 additional cooling surfaces !!!!!!!

That is pure genius in my book . Simple and effective design. It just works incredibly well.

Picture of stem and ends of the cooling channels.

My second genius feature is ......later dudes and dudettes. Any guesses??? 🕵️‍♀️ 🔍

😮oooh.. I can see that now.

seems about right. Convection does not often get ABV as dark as conduction.
About this vape:
I love this vape!
I love convection, and have wished for easier convection bedside for a long time.
Sure, there is bedside convection here at my place... but the loading is often a juggling act.
I'm tight on space.
I like the glass. It is a stylish idea, and blends well.
I can see the acrylic partition, safely separating fluid from my unit.... but my reflexes won't listen to my logic!
I can't suspend liquid over electronics.
I even have trouble accepting that the blender is safe! (as I check obsessively for leaks)
All good.
The grinder is very cool. I have both, and they function well for the design.
The metal one feels more solid, and is a better tool IMO.
I have settled in with pre-grinding to the texture I like, and then use the tool. I know it's not necessary, but
the hits seem so much denser.
The taste is superb, and convection seems to always give me the flavor profiles I look for in flower.
I took video as I tried the unit. The first time I have used my voice while making a video, since the raid in 2015.
I deleted my voice from over 200 videos.
The video is "loading".. and will take a while so I will post it later.
The "Pot" cools down to be handled faster than I thought it might. Likely from the top heat source's
superior performance.
I have been able to easily do bowle after bowle, ringing a very satisfactory number of hits from each.
Very little down time with this Vaporizer. the charge is fast and convenient... a real patient's delight!
I have myself pre-loaded, and ready to recline on the bed to enjoy the unit.
This computer has been fighting me for my right to type the word bowle.
It keeps re-spelling it for me.
Anyway....
Video to come, and I adore the Tafée Bowle!

Kind of 3:1 on my second Bowle stroke of genius:
- How they accomplished “top down , turbulent heat”.
That needs “side loading” which IMO usually sucks bigtime, think Ghost MV-1

The “slightly angled bowl” is small but huge. It allows a simple but highly effective side loading seal.
It mates up easily and securely for that top down turbulent heat .

Interesting that Jorge/ miniVAP is opposite of Bowle turbulent air flow with its long laminar smooth flow, yet both work great, if done right.

I’d love to see the inside of the puck. It sure picks up quick that you stopped drawing/ shuts off heater when you are on auto-draw.
