Wow, I believe that they indicated initially that it would be a limited qty run. But also, I think it has turned into a major PIA for them.

thx for the information that it was limited..

then it was definitely not a good deal for him i think !? because if you can earn well with something you don’t give up so easily!?

I don't really know how profitable or not it is to them. I'm not privy to that info and its kind of not my business.

But if I recall correctly, they said it would be a limited run right from the start....that is, before any shipping, thread incompatibility, and sled battery contact issues. So, I kind of think it was a planned limited run from the start.

no one told me this was an awful idea, or that I shouldn't ... etc. So I figured hey fuck it let's go!

Yeah no.

Simply went to turn the voltage up and it auto turned the Hopper on for a sec and I'm assuming blew the box.

Now let's all laugh at me for completely ruining my PA

....... I really should have just continued my life, not reading this forum lol

An expensive lesson for sure.

After all of the replacements are shipped maybe someone here will have an extra they can send you? (Albeit with the less desired v1 threading.) Not sure how the replacements work.

For the future (assuming you figured this out, but for the sake of others)...
Unless you know the device can support it, you should always assume a voltage spike will brick your device (it’s the reason “surge protector” power strips exist).

Looking at the adapter quickly without taking it apart, you probably don't want to exceed 16V (do NOT quote me on this, proceed at your own risk).

I must say this kit is really aweome, for re-discover our Grasshopper, Finish to have lack of consistency , now each GH session are the same = Milk a bong and finish a load in one hit... Yummy !!! More to come... but @maxvapor710 you did a really good job on this kit, gratz:tup:

I just got my v2 adapter and it threaded onto my OG and io hoppers without issue. The circuit board portion of the adapter is much simpler.

Also, the power box adapter that initially came with my kit

Model: HTY-1200500
Input: 100-240Vac 0.6A 50HZ-60HZ
Output: 12V [solid line over dashed line] 5A

Seems to power hopper io.

I just did one bowl on each OG and io, just now. I forgot how much more draw resistance the OG has...

Great so somehow you get a different model brick instead of the noisy pos I got. I didn't want or need one that can't power the io or that requires replacement cables, just a waste.
I'm waiting on a couple of 150W mean well supplies which has about doubled the price of the kit

So, to follow up. While my power brick does power the io, it doesn't feel like it's drawing all the necessary power needed to work at optimal temperature for extraction. It does not appear to work as well as when i have the new GHB2 battery that came with the unit fully charged.

I don't really understand all the electronic mumbo jumbo, but let me know if I can help at all in testing.

P.S. sorry to hear that you got a noisy power brick, never heard of that before.

yeah at 12V5A and with lossage through the step down transformer, you will be pushing that brick beyond it's rating in order to power the io. Nice that it at least works, but a pity it doesn't give full power, or seem to.

A bit like with the 18650 sled, you do get more power with a fresh battery, but you can keep using it while taking hits to performance for a long time.

The power supply brick I got with the kit emits a high pitch whine which is honestly really annoying, so I would replace it even if it could power the io or even if I just planned on using the legacy.
I've got the LSR-150-12 mean well supplies en route, will be here next thursday, and hopefully should work swimmingly - although not the ordinary laptop brick style, and it might have coil whine too, time will tell. I need to see what happens when the io gets full power constantly though.

Gotcha, thanks for the additional info. I just googled the LSR-150-12 mean well and found it, but it's unclear to me how you would use it/connect it to the hopper. Do you have to open up the power brick and replace one of the components with the LSR? Or are you planning on using it instead of the power brick entirely?

Thanks again

it has terminals rather than cables or plugs, it will replace everything up to the DC jack in the existing mains powered set up - I'll still use the blue adapter the hopper cable plugs into, once I've added wires to the PSU it will just plug together. One will be a permanent desktop supply and another I'll rig up for on-the-go usage. It'll need a bit of work to make it 'safe' as usually the mains power is exposed which is not usual for equipment. It's a bit of an unusual selection, but I figure there's a good chance it'll work and the cost was right

Interesting.

It looks like you received this one (BINZET HTY-1200500): https://www.amazon.com/BINZET-Supply-Adapter-Converter-Regulator/dp/B00VA27NRK

I received this one (Chanzon CAE060122-VI): https://www.amazon.com/110V-220V-Converter-Lighting-Transformer-Flexible/dp/B073QTNF9F

@MoltenTiger My one PS does not emit any noticeable sound. I have a second PS (same model) that I haven't tried yet.

Actually this is the one that was provided to me with the kit:

As I mentioned before I do not understand all the electronic stats, but based on the fact that these seem to power the io:

Input: 100-240Vac 0.6A 50HZ-60HZ
Output: 12V [solid line over dashed line] 5A

would any of these 12 volt / 10 amp bricks work in theory?

Thanks in advance!

It's not the most noticeable sound, high pitch. Plugged into 240V AC, so that also might make a difference

Music easily blocks it out, so it's not terrible but I couldn't live with it. It's so nice using the mains adapter though, got some massive legacy clouds tonight. Can't wait to use it with the io.

In theory 12V10A is 120W and should easily do the job. In practice apparently some won't do it. There definitely is a good chance what you've linked or something like that will work, but no way to know without trying

Alright, thanks for the advice.

I just purchased this one, it should be here tomorrow in theory. Will do some testing and report back.

I didn't realise til now but that first one you linked is the same one that muunch tried with his io, it didn't work

Just tried this to power my Hopper io and still no beans. Powers up for a sec, then shuts down.

Back to waiting for someone to recommend one that works :uhoh:

Get a higher amperage model from the brand that was working for you at 12V5A rating, that would be the best bet I guess (though it might actually be identical apart from the sticker)

Someone needs to suoply an amazon link to a working option.
Apparently @maxvapor710 had it working with some model ps

I'm confident the MW LSR will work but it's not really a recommendable option

I was able to cancel my initial amazon order. But can't seem to find a 10A power brick by the same brand Ledmo.

I guess if @maxvapor710, has figured it out already I'll wait for him to post a link.

Please be aware that user @muunch ruined their battery adapter by experimenting with a different power supply. It sounds like there was an attempt to increase the voltage in that case, so probably not the same as buying a power supply with fixed voltage. But still a caveat.

I swapped the adapter back to my OG hopper and have to say that it works quite well. You just have to be patient (like a turtle) and take a long, steady, low pressure inhale (I'm using a 1.5' bong). The io is more akin to a hare / rabbit and better at ripping through a bowl at speed (with a new fully charged GHB2) and can keep up with whatever you throw at it.

turtle wins the race... and is already high on weed

So, @maxvapor710 hasn't been on the board for three weeks which is unusual given past activity.

Anybody know what's up?
I got this response from their support today regarding the io compatibility:

We have only tested the IO with the legacy backend as we did not have the proper threaded adapter when we had the IO to test.
I will be releasing more information about the IO compatibility in the next few weeks.

Thanks,

Great if you got your kit but, if I received a shipping email, the tracking show that's only a shipping label and the item is still not in hands of usps, I expected to get it after you since you payed for UPS shipment if I remenber correctly but this is looks like it will be a long wait!

Can't wait for these consistent hits and to have not to deal with that F*** batteries anymore!

This has been my experience as well. Label created 7/11/2020, info sent to usps & awaiting pickup on 7/12/2020 & no change since? I emailed & also called/left msg for support, with no reply? I really hope everyone’s alright, but it’s very frustrating non the less.

So I take it there won't be anymore power kits for the hopper made after everyone who pre-ordered gets theirs?

Kinda beating myself up for not pre-ordering. 😬
