Count me in as having the same issue with a new XL.
Same issues here šŸ˜¢
I Am also having said issues :(

Please send an email to Eric@bndlstech.com so we can help you out with this. @Gavman and some other users have mentioned they were able to fix this by adjusting the bottom pin of the heating element and the wires that connect to the pin and grommet. If we are not able to help get your current coil up and running we can set you up with a replacement coil. Our apologies for this inconvenience and we hope to help out.

I have one showing up today. We will see.......

Does anyone have one of these XLs that doesnā€™t have this issue right out of the box?

I will just say I am still on my original coil on my OG terp pen, complete with the silicon or whatever insulators, they are great shockies and show the original design was spot on as long as you did not try to vape the glass under your rosin they are great...thanks to whoever was the first ham-fisted user that broke the original versions then complained.

Maybe let's try this way;
Has anyone except @Stu received a working XL? (and maybe not beta units, rather devices from this current release batch...)

Mine is arriving today, if anyone has been given any "fix" instructions (other than replace coil with an og), can you please pass them on?

It's not just the tips. I tried an OG, brand new tip on my XL and it did the same thing. Seems they work for a few hits and then various things are happening.

Also, does anyone else notice that every time you set the pen down, the blue light goes on and, sometimes the temperature setting changes. I'm not dropping it. Just setting it down normally. Anyone else experiencing this?

Boundless is sending out replacement units. Hopefully, these are A-OK.

Well, I did have a bit of a glitch the other day but yesterday I did 8 hits of live resin (WAS WAY TOO MUCH!) and the TerpXL worked great. The only thing I did yesterday that was different was that I took it apart, cleaned it, and then tightened all the parts securely back together ensuring that there was appropriate contact between coil and battery. ????????

The original XL I received would show as having a dead battery after a few hits (light flashing red and no heat) after fully charging. I received a replacement unit and it is doing the exact same thing. The battery level indicator is blue when this happens.

Hi All,

After testing some returned units out this week we are finding that there are two main issues going on. The first is when the unit blinks 10 times after a draw. The 10 blinking red light indicates low battery capacity. If this is happening to your unit please give it another full charge with the coil unscrewed from the battery. Let the unit charge for a few hours and if the led light turns off while charging, unplug and plug back in for a few more minutes. To check to see if your unit is performing correctly after recharging try a burn-off hit on blue or green. When on the blue, after a full draw the led will blink blue 3 times. Same with green and red but it is easiest to test this on blue and green. If there is still no difference in the performance of your unit feel free to contact me and we will get this replaced. This has worked for all the returns that I have received so far that experience the 10 blinking red led issue and has also worked with newly opened units that I have here at the office experiencing this issue.

Another issue we have seen is an alternating red to green led light when taking a draw. This indicates a faulty coil connect. This can be fixed by adjusting the metal pin on the bottom of the heating element or popping out the metal pin and checking to see if the wires are properly connected. One wire should sit outside of the silicone grommet and the other wire should sit inside to touch the metal pin and grommet. If you are experiencing this issue please message me and I can help out further.

I hope this helps. If you would like to message me via email to discuss this further please do so at Eric@bndlstech.com.

I just tried what you said for the 10 blinking red light problem and it worked. I'm curious, is it a one time only thing or is this a problem that will come back? It's not a problem to fix at home but when on the go it could be a pain in the ass if you don't have a way to charge it on you.

Charging for a few hours and doing the unplug/replug seems to have fixed the issue with my unit. Much better battery life now!

My unit responded to the initialization described by @Boundless Vape Technology and has been operating fine. It was touch and go until those helpful hints came.

I'm getting blink of lights at odd times. Set it down on a table, blue for a couple of secs.
Place it into my water piece and usually a blink or two of blue or green.
Sometimes if I tap it just once, it will show a green light, even though temp may be on the blue setting, whatever.
It all leads me to question whether it is staying at the heat setting I selected or is it jumping to some other temp. Usually, I find it has kept the same temp as I had set.

[EDIT; This paragragh must have been after I had a low battery sesh - I just chrged it and getting clouds on all temps, just a little whipspier on blue.] I'm not getting much in clouds (with wax) on blue temp, not very much better at green, and on red plenty, which is something more akin to my terp pen og experience.

So far, I like the size and simplicity of operation of the og over the xl's larger battery and coil. I'll definitely give it some more time to dial it in...and maybe as they come out with new coils, etc. something will kick in for me with this one.

The concentrate carrier in the cap. What is that about? The silicone divider between the container and the cap proper, why is it silicone? Are you supposed to just smear your wax onto that silicone (and not into the well of the container...) and draw it off of that?

It seems like that silicone lid can pop off, so I figured it was built that way for ease of cleaning, maybe? But Iā€™m pretty sure the concentrates themselves are meant to go into the cup ā€” itā€™s lined with quartz for that reason, IIRC.

Is the Terp Pen XL designed to be used with the cap on, similar to the OG Terp Pen? It has the holes to provide flow but the coils seem awfully close to the silicone cap for the little storage compartment.

This thing is a monster. Totally replacing the 2 OG TP's I have. Love the free air flow. Very nice draw. And, I can load these giant coils up and get 8 or 10 good hits.

IMO, Boundless has a real winner in this one.

With that said, there are still issues with the LED light going off and on at weird times. And, the temperature will change by itself, often. And, my eyes are going crossed looking at the LED. Same with the OG Terp Pen. Maybe others don't use the lights on their vapes but I often look at mine and the Terp Pens are definitely sending me cross-eyed. LOL Still, these have become my goto for rosin, edging out the Aris Headbanger. Even with these few issues with the light, this is an awesome rosin vape.

Congrats @Boundless Vape Technology

@Hackerman, I note you said you get 8 to 10 good puffs on the XL, how many puffs do you get to one load on the old OG?

I've found with the og that if I load enough for more than about 2 hits, the device can get messy with unspent product dripping down from the coil , plus taste degenerates. The xl's coil is bigger but I still worry about the gunk, so haven't loaded more than about 3-4 hit's worth. 12 sounds nice, but idk, is material being wasted? are hits getting less flavorful with that kind of load?

(If anyone can tell me of a wax vaping device that will allow me to load 10 or 20 quality, preferably on-demand hits and I can take out for a walk, I'd sure appreciate it.)

a prefilled cartridge is the only device that will take that many quality draws without vaping any funk or gunk.

These kind of devices are really only ideal for one single session at a time - referred to in the community as ā€œload-as-you-goā€ (LAYG)

I am also seeing the temperature change from hit to hit. Iā€™ll start out on red and get a good hit. Next hit, 20 seconds later, Iā€™m getting next to nothing and see that the LED is now green or blue. Very annoying.

Every time I use this, it seems something different happens with the temp or battery level. The only thing consistent, is the inconsistency.

Cartridge as in oil concentrate? For some reason those tend to irritate my throat and minutes or hours later I cough, then sound wheezy in the am.
Am I missing something? The oils typically don't taste as good to me, so I have preferred wax, which I have access to and can afford.
I am familiar with how these terp pens work, I have one of each og and xl, I agree, it doesn't go as well if you load too much at a time.
