Scientific Glass

Starting this thread as it fits many glass pieces that are not necessarily cheap, or are artisan/heady types. AKA clear vapor rigs if you will.

The Herborazier XL Bubbler is the most expensive glass I have purchased. It is not out of control expensive but not cheap so to speak at $169 retail.

It has 4 large holes in the perc that allow for little diffusion and disruption to the flowing terps. It has a slight chug because of this, but gets tampered down a bit because of the tall narrow can. It has a good amount of torque on the bowl and I found I was pulling to hard on a few vapes like my G43 Sled and vapcaps.

The vapor is pretty smooth and tasty compared to my other rigs, not a in your face difference but you can tell. I usually use a drop down as it helps keep the rig cleaner longer and puts the heat away from my face. It adds to the volume for sure....but it is not a negitive as it does help some with backwash too. The one in the pic is a TAG 2 inch drop....but I would like to try their 3 inch one later. It would move the bowl lower for comfort with a couple diff vapes.

I am glad I took the plunge on this rig and it is more than worth the $. I would not want to spend more for other rigs, $200 will probably be my ceiling if I need to get another +$70 rig.

I love scientific pieces, and have gravitated towards using them exclusively over the years. I love the aesthetic of looking at and vaping through clean clear glass.

I am a big fan of Sheldon Black... there are lots of copies, but I've not found one that fires percs as well as the real deal.

@LabPong

Following on from the OGFC thread, DubMonkey and myself both own the same piece of glass and both of us LOVE it!
Daily driver of mine for over 5 years now and nothing else gets used or bought anymore as it fill the void perfectly!

Dubmonkey started with the Herbo glass and then contacted me about my piece of glass.
The Herbo is a bit shorter and has too much chug for my liking.

I discovered the RooR Vapor Glass to be absolutely perfect!
It has the same perc as the Herbo except that it is much more finely handcrafted and has about 12 holes for diffusion.
Extremely smooth and has a nice, wide stable base!

Clear glass is where it is at, especially with vaporizers as you need to see what is happening during a hit!!

That is VERY similar to the Sheldon Black piece I have. (stock pics).
I love this perc, so smooth! The thin mouthpiece stem is also a real flavor saver.

Beauty!!!
The finer, more scientific percs are just soooo smoooth!!!!
The flat mouth pieces are wonderful! Got tired of having to wrap my lips around to get a good seal.
Now it is just like sipping vapor!
I love the size of mine, it is about 12" tall.

Yea I always dreamed of those a few years back....now...I can only find one like that in USA....and its $1K+.......

The Herborizer XL bubbler def has a big of chug to it.....but I forgive this somewhat because of the MP and height of the can. I knew this might be an issue with just 4 large perc holes. I have my D020-D9 rigs setup with a narrow 14mm downstem with multi holes perc....inside the original wide downstem of the D9 matrix perc. I have a few rigs setup like this....and they are wicked smooth....any vape works on them.

Thanks for the heads up on the SB glass FlyingLow!

Looks amazing @LabPong! but fragile, especially the mouthpiece.

Actually it is pretty strong.......the whole thing is. I have no worries about the MP or the fact that is is removable. In fact I just ordered a straight 9 inch mini snake head MP from OregonGlassBlower. I wanted a straight MP so I do not have to lean over or pick up the rig when I sit at my desk.

I love scientific glass too, so you can see the vapor at work.
Mobius is my GAS of choice.
Will post pics sometime later.
P. S. Oregon Glass Blower is top notch glassblower.

I may reach out to them... I am looking for other 18mm mouthpiece options for my P80.
The Lamart Bent Spiked stem is my favorite so far, but I think I want something larger.

I like scientific glass mainly because it's easier for me to see when I'm cleaning it that I get it completely clean. I've cleaned colored glass before thinking it was clean when it still had residue in the darker colors. I love my SB Dub-Bub. As a matter of fact, out of all the glass I have (about 6 pieces), the only ones I list in my sig are scientific glass. The hilarious thing to me is that I just noticed that!

I recently purchased a scientific glass bubbler. It's my first American glass piece besides my Evo hydratube. I am used to buying China glass from Dhgate. However, my younger brother came home with a new Grav labs piece, and I immediately recognized the differences between China and American glass. It inspired me to purchase this bubbler. http://instagr.am/p/CChJC53HPbT/

You should talk to Oregon Glass Blower, he can do custom 18 mm male stems, can even cut down the joint to make sure they fit the tetra!

I shared these in the tinymight thread, but make sense to share here since it is clear scientific glass that works with a very many vapes!

My new Oregon Glass Blower customs arrived today! They are perfect, the special mouthpiece of the 18 mm J-Hook is so much better (modeled after the Lamart mini j hook mp) and it is even a little more compact than the 14mm one (which is now going into storage until I can find someone to cut off its flared mp lol) Meanwhile the new custom prototype spiky bent 18mm female mouthpiece also renders the whip adapter less useful as a mouthpiece now. The cooler could probably be made even longer too, though as is the cost is $45 each if anyone is interested... Time to test them out, will report back, but just looking at them I already feel like they're going to be my go-to pieces at home, where I always am now!

OGB can work with you to make a custom if you email him, but he also has a lot of great pieces ready to ship in the shop too (I think coolers like this may be added soon enough ;))

Actually kind of wish I could have gotten some color in here, but practicality is more important than superficial beauty of course!

WOW! You really can't beat custom stuff. Looks like you'll be enjoying that TinyMight in a bunch of different ways!

What's great is that it works with so many vapes, so really it's going to be the two new ones being used with TM tetra milaana splinters grasshopper and everything really, these are now my go to waterless options at home, with a little variety on occasion...

@Shit Snacks those are very sweet. I was checking out the J hooks on his website a few months ago. The concern I had was the strength of the stem, particularly at the joint where the stem meets the bowl. Do you know how thick the glass is? I imagine they must be solid if you are liking them.

The glass he uses is extremely thick! Nothing to be concerned about there

Evolution!

This thing is rocking my vapor hard! Works with every vape so far...even does well with my dynavaps!

Herborizer XL bubbler
Oregon Glass Blower 9' mp
Rick Birdbarry dropdown

Only thing left to change is the perc area... going to add something in the bottom of the downstem to soften up the chug a bit.

Is the downstream on that piece removable? Its not cheap, but I love the SB 14 hole diffuser down stems for both flower and trates.

No...downstem is fixed....it is connected to the top of the can and not the joint section. I like it because of this actually, less parts to disassemble and clean!

The perc is designed for little loss of terpage......so the outlet holes in the perc are fairly large. I am going to try several 7mm dab balls in it to hopefully smooth it out.
