OK Stu, I’ve been using my volcano for quite a while and noticed a couple times you praising the obsidian, I’m with you brother, I finally ordered it and can’t wait to try it out.So far, friends that have came over to the house, people have never even seen it or heard of it and then once they tried the volcano they are hooked. People come over and take pictures and video of the old classic in action!
You are going to love it. I personally just received mine on Monday after a long wait. The syringe they have is a perfect amount of water for the Obsidian. It cools down the vapor by a majority. I cranked up my volcano on a 9 and it makes it feel like it is on a 6. The only downside is the o-rings staying on the chamber after twisting the Obsidian off. Expensive but worth the price for cooler vapor.

Any videos of the obsidian in action kicking around ? I'm definitely curious, thicker vapor from the volcano would be cool.

Also does the whip that came out with the hybrid works with the classic ? Im not sure if I'm a whip guy but I'm definitely not a bag guy which is problematic with the volcano lol

I was noodling around out here, remembering my first Volcano post (which I think was in 2011). I looked back at the start of this thread. This is from 2010:

"The cano is a bit of a dinosaur IMHO. Other vapes being discussed here are not lesser products, The lack of cano talk here speaks for itself! If you want to see killer vapor, check out vids of The Supreme vaporizer in action!:ko: When I first arrived here on the forums I too was looking at the cano but only because of popularity and word of mouth. After researching alot in here you may have a different outlook."

That's been the buzz for a decade or more. Too old, too clunky, outdated, past its moment. And yet ... and yet ... here we are, still loving on the dinosauric machine! I've owned at least five other vapes since I bought mine ... and yet my Cano is still going strong.

I put the Hybrid back on the shelf and pulled out my trusty Classic. What a difference in vapour quality. Smooth and delicious as always. I have the Obsidian and the bags last longer because all the reclaim stays in the over flow. I add warm water to the Obsidian to reclaim the resin. No ISO needed anymore. The valve cleans up with boiled water from my tea kettle.

Wouldn't you rather that stayed as vapor and not precipitate out into the water?

I mean, yeah...I use rigs also and yeah, some amount of vapor will condense on the glass and be lost. But I view that as a necessary evil for water cooling.
Lately I use the Obsidian with out water to catch what normally would build up in the bags. Then I would use boiled water from my tea kettle to clean out the resin from my Obsidian. I would never be able to get that sticky resin off the inside of the bags. Before I had the Obsidian, My bags would get so sticky the bags had a hard time blowing up. Now my bags blow up just fine. I know what your talking about the water maybe taking away the effects.

Wow, cool. There is a 24k gold plated Volcano Classic to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Volcano!
Always wondered if a Classic would do me just fine and this special edition is sure tempting even at US$599,
although I would have to buy a new table just for this! And prevent scratches like never before!

I suspect its not plated and that this is not gold (Au) and more likely an anodizing process in a gold color, no?

I would've thought it's almost certainly anodized too but their description says:

gold-plated Hot Air Generator (24 carats)

they're also using the gold-plated wording in their marketing materials so perhaps it is?

Definitely, $380 new w/ their 20% discount is pretty decent deal. Hell I'm still very happy w/ the value of the used one of unknown age (it came w/ solid valve but afaik they sold both for a while) I got on Craigslist last summer and I paid $300 for that.

Is $335 a good deal for a volcano that is in great shape? Would I be able to get my money back if it wasn't for me?

For a Classic or Digit?

Probably about right if its in great condition, sometimes you can score a Classic for around $200-250 if you shop around but they probably have a bit of wear.

Obsidian seems like a great idea, I can't help but wonder if the folks who made it tried to ditch the bag all together. When I first saw it that's what I thought it was.
Negative, we always intended for a bubbler that integrates directly with the bag ;) We were wrought in the Bag-to-Bong methodology and knew there had to be a better way.... Magma and Obsidian is the product of our developments :)

RE: Baron and reclaim... This is a function of the reclaim gathering on the walls, and will happen without water as well. THC is not appreciably soluble in H2O, and so the addition of water in the lower chamber will actually DECREASE the amount of reclaim by reducing the total surface area in contact with the relatively hot vapor. Cheers!

Ah, I stand corrected....thank you. :tup::nod:

I thought, like the Crafty+, that the gold Volcano would be more expensive on the EU site "due to Value Added Tax" but all the desktops are actually listed about 50 cheaper in EU, and the gold Volcano is €498 here.
So it seems they're charging €100, or $111, for the gold plating and the fancy packaging.

I'm not good at looking after packaging like a collector, so I should just recycle that right away!
It would be a nice addition if I sold my Digit, I might be watching one closely for Black Friday.

Thought it would be cool if the insides of the heater were also gold, but plating might not be enough in there and solid gold too expensive.

I would love to see the golden Volcano opened. I am curious to see what is inside of that golden bad boy. A golden Volcano is nothing new, but it is one of the first from S&B. Is it likely S&B will release different color classics? It could be possible after releasing a golden Volcano.

Well I don't know how/if it would work but I would love if you could just draw directly from something obsidian like. I know the vape isn't designed to be used like that so maybe I'm asking you to figure out how to turn my car into a boat lol
