Discontinued Ghost MV1

I think Randy would have done the same deal for me. I give him a lot of business.
I sent my local supplier of Ghost an email asking if they could match the price and I still have not heard back from them (Australianvaporizers!).
I like the sound of all the glowing PUFFITUP reviews but their international shipping nearly gave me a heart attack the last time I tried to use them (they wanted US$36 freight for a nylon grinder wear ring ffs, $6 more than my Ghost cost to ship):disgust:

For those of you who have the GLASS stem - do you like it more than the current stem? I feel like I really NEED to get the glass one - the plastic bugs me a little even though there is ZERO taste from it and won’t break as easily. But still... would love to hear what others think. (I see it isn’t available on Ghost site, but is other places)
TIA - @Summer would really like to hear your take on this (and anyone else, of course!).

When I first used the Makrolon stem (a trademarked polycarbonate material), I preferred the glass stem because it fit tighter in the heat sink (less wiggle), but after a glass stem fell on the bathroom tile floor & broke, I started to use the plastic ones. After getting use to the Makrolon stem, it's fine; I don't even give it a 2nd thought. Sometimes I use the stem completely pulled out at full height & other times I use it pulled out only 1/2 way. It's whatever draw resistance feels comfortable to me during that current session.

Here's a LINK wherein the Makrolon vs. glass stem is discussed. Be sure to read down through ghostvapesofficial's (Patrick's) post.

Luckily I have an Android phone and can use the app - I don’t think I would be as happy if I couldn’t use an app.

Funny, as I've never used the app as the #1 - 4 temperature presets suit my taste perfectly. My most favorite preset is #3 (392°F, I believe) which is the exact same temp I set the POTV One at.

I,once had an arizer solo stem fall on floor in bathroom and break 90 seconds into a three day hotel stay. There was no back up available.

I like this ploycarbonate too. It didnt go opaque at all in 90% ISO and is flavorless.

Subliminal metric training as 392f = 200c.:myday:

I asked if these are safe to torch clean because I realized the dispenser occasionally transfers black plastic color to the sides of the crucibles when they are removed. I'm preheating my kitchen oven to 400 now to find out if the plastic transfer Is heat stable at that temp since it won't wipe off with iso.

I guess it won't come as a surprise to hear that I'm worried about adding cooked plastic to the vaporstream. I guess it also shouldn't be surprising that ceramic will be abrasive to plastic and that it will have tiny pores that won't wipe clean with iso:\

Fine sanding didn't really seem to work still making black smudges so I guess I need to build my own wooden dispensing unit.

Is it safe to blow torch these crucibles to clean them?

@Djsleepy that sucks dude

Just soak in iso or use a qtip with iso after using. Your on another level ... Do you breath the air outside , and eat at restaurants, kiss people, and normal stuff like that , or do you live in a bubble ??? Maybe vapes are not for you. This is getting Ridiculous ,

It's either an overheat, which based on you letting it wait probably not that. The other thing I know I've had that happen with is when the door is not all the way closed. Any chance of that?

EDIT: I see you already figured it out, excellent!

Wise words.:myday:
I've been waiting to put my two cents in on this as well, since I've never had the glass stem for the MV1. But I have been using these plastic ones since February soaking them in 90% ISO to clean them with zero issues and zero flavor.

Peese!

EDIT: many apologies for the back-to-back posts. I had too many thoughts going at once!

Hi @virgil_GHOST Just a real quick question... (or anyone else who knows the answer)

My mv1 landed in the UK today. The fast charger has a US plug on it, is it okay running on 240V if I just get a straight adapter for it?

Or do I have to grab a 240V specific 12v 1.5A supply?

This stealth unit is quite sexy... I may have to give my nickel one to the wife instead of this one. :brow:

EDIT - Ignore me, I can see that the power supply will take 240v. Off to the shops for a travel adapter then.

Protip for anyone compulsively checking for shipping updates: If you copy your tracking code onto your clipboard then you can check for tracking updates even faster if you use one hand to refresh the page with mouse and the other hand to Ctrl + V paste in the tracking code and hit enter. :haw:

@Djsleepy how do I avoid having that same thing happen where you managed to lock the Vape without the app? What was the steps to fix it?

Don't know how I did it just switched out batteries and happened????? Fix it by holding both buttons down until blinking green (10-15secs)

@ghostvapesofficial how did I lock it manually?

Oh ok. I ask because I thought you had already tried swapping out many different batteries and it didn't help at all. Holding down both buttons at the same time is something I didn't know/ never thought about trying. Will keep that one in my back pocket in case I need it

@Raf

That sounds scary like the time I got my oven locked into Jewish Holiday mode accidentally while I was cleaning the front. designed to make the oven unusable for 24 hours inorder to observe the Sabbath.. apparently. You would think just remember not to use the oven would be good enough but they built that feature in anyway[/QUOTE]
Haha

I know the quick charger is out of stock but I'm just curious where is it on the site I don't see it any place?

I'm assuming they didn't just remove it from the site after they ran out of stock since that would be shady AF?

Maybe not shady.. I guess that's honest if you're never planning to offer it again? :hmm:

Is there something we can get off Amazon that will draw 12 volts and output 1.5 amps or 2.5 or whatever that f****** thing does in micro usb?

What is the heating coil in the MV1 made of, anyone know?

At the inferred manufacturing price point, taking into account the recent sale, it seems like it would have to be aluminum heating element under the ceramic. I can also kind of smell very hot aluminum a little bit but I don't see it anywhere, very similar to if I was hanging around a volcano

It would cost too much more if the heating element was ceramic, seems

Errr...I can't find the reference off hand, but I'm pretty sure it isn't aluminum.

is it confirmed to be a metal coil wrapped around the lower ceramic assembly?

My nose is not always right, just a similar something kind of volcano heating element by Calvin Klein type smell lol

Whatever it is does NOT appear to make it into the vapor path so that's nice

Oh, its metal....but I can't find the reference...but I thought it was some sort of steel coil. I may well be wrong, but I can't imagine anybody making coils out of aluminum due to potential toxicity.
