We're looking at any solution, angle, and loophole there is. I'm confident we'll come through.

I'm sorry for the back to back post eeeek!

What do you bet apple employees all had notice so they could download the app before it was banned?! Or that they still have access...

The (feudal) Silicone valley loves vapes. Royalty has proclaimed vape apps off limits for anyone but them.

Here's some wild speculation:
What if the MV1 and Airvape Legacy were withdrawn due to patent infringement litigation negotiations? Surely, if they violated any of the S&B patents regarding convection heat exchangers, the release of the Crafty+ might precipitate International enforcement blitz. Just wild speculation. Conspiracy theories anyone?

I don't doubt it. I haven't bought S & B because of their frivolous suit against the maker of the Herbalizer. I pulled the pleadings off court docket. The whole suit was bs and was dismissed but not until Herbalizer was done for...

Edit: if S & B was really sending demand letters and threatening suit, I'd be the first to buy a MV1 or two, just to provide funds to fight back. I HATE companies and attorneys that bring bs litigation as a business tactic. The fact S & B is a giant and MV1 is smaller bunch of guys and gals makes the optics worse...

(If this theory is true...)

Yeah, fuck S&G with their litigious attitude and new 'do as little as possible' business model. Crafty "plus" five yers later; what a joke.

I know mate, I wish there was more I could say. But anything more would be a promise I personally can't see through. I can't speak on what we're doing because while I genuinely respect and care about everyone here, out of respect for my colleagues, I also have to keep the internal workings of the business as close to the vest as I can. If there's more to share, please trust that I will be forthcoming with information. Believe me, I am digging (to the point I fear I may be becoming an annoyance, which is not good in an office environment). We don't want to upset anyone and I'm truly sorry if we have.

Cheers,
Virgil from GHOST Vapes

If this situation has not sufficiently demonstrated the importance of standard batteries to your designers and stakeholders, you are already lost as a company. S&B may be able to rely on brand strength and patent litigation to compensate for poor design decisions, but you cannot. Any release of an MV2 (MV1+, whatever) that still uses a proprietary battery pack would be a huge mistake.

Would it be impossible to make a carriage that just holds two replaceable 18650s?

That's a great idea!... drives me crazy when these companies want to do proprietary batteries but then can't or won't keep up with demand. Making sled would eliminate all of that but they get too greedy for their own good.

From a technical standpoint, having semi-proprietary batteries might be a way of protecting from possible lawsuits related to exploding batteries.

I, for one, make sure I get my batteries (for dive lights, and other vapes) from authorized brand dealers. Cheaply made batteries are dangerous.

Now, if Ghost could design the battery 'case' so that it does whatever proprietary thing it may do, BUT insist on authorized batteries to be used for warranty process, that might work.

The proprietary battery was one thing that made me hesitate, especially when the design simply looks like 2 batteries cased together.

That said, I'd rather not speculate on a business decision that I have no info about. Also, while the inventory clear-out does make me cautious, and some of us are still remembering the Haze mess of last year, I feel it's best to not entertain rumors of New products, nor out-of-biz chatter.

Enjoy our products.

I am not quiet about speculation because something is going on. That is clear. We dont know what. But it doesn't sound good. People dont have batteries. No comment from the company.

I'm loyal only to vape/forum users and general legalization movement. Users of this forum have kept purchasing during escalating sales. These purchasers could be screwed if the company goes under. Moreover, if you bought a MV1 just a month or so ago you paid a $100 more. I pointed out then the price would continue to drop. That's helpful for people when they decide to buy or not buy and that's the main point of this forum. People helping people.

I can respect that, Virgil.

But in such a case, Ghost senior management needs to release communications verifying that they are indeed in the process of acquiring more battery stock and that this is NOT a situation of end of life stock run outs.

You see the difference?

If Ghost puts the MV1 on deep sale (which they have), runs out its MV1 battery stock because a new model is about to be released, and strands its MV1 customers without spare batteries....then they will deservedly so be subject to intense criticism.

The first issue is not when batteries will be restocked. The first issue is IF Ghost intends to restock batteries.

Then, if so, the next question is when.

This needs to be made explicitly clear by Ghost rather immediately, IMO.

exactly. if they issued a statement, then we wouldn't need to speculate. That's why you don't let situations like this linger. this has been an issue for a while now.

@Baron23 - you’re message is right on point. In emails with ghost I inquired about battery availability, and when they could not commit to “when” battery stock might become available, I inquired about “if” battery stock would become available. They would not commit to that either, leaving me with the impression there would be no more restocking of batteries for sale. While I can understand supply delays and being uncertain of delivery timelines, I find it disconcerting they don’t know or can’t commit to saying there will be additional batteries for sale at some point.

"From a technical standpoint, having semi-proprietary batteries might be a way of protecting from possible lawsuits related to exploding batteries" -

the sole proprietor of any dangerous product is entirely liable for that product

they (Ghost) should clearly let consumers know if there will be more batteries and when BEFORE they entice more customers into purchasing a discounted unit with the expected lifespan of one battery

I completely agree that a solid statement would help alleviate any speculations.
I was not happy with how Haze just disappeared on us, so I am watching Ghost with caution. I simply point out the danger in speculating too much, especially about there being an upgrade coming.

One positive thing to note is how quickly they reacted to the Apple atrocity. One could be cynical and claim that they need the app to get their final sales, but I can also see a professional marketing team that quickly got a handle on it and petitioned Apple. It might not get anywhere, but it shows that there are people doing their best. (then again, Haze was responsive right up until they disappeared). Ok, yes, I'm concerned. My new Plenty should ease my worries though.

Hello Everyone,

Thank you for your patience while I went digging for more information to share. Excellent points made by all that have participated in the thread.

We will be stocking more batteries. It is a question of when.

The problem we've discovered is due to our previous supplier being unable to supply. Had we been able to foresee this issue earlier perhaps we'd be further along than we are now. Again, we apologize for causing alarm. There have been a few mentions of using third party batteries on this thread. It's a good idea. We've looked into it. Unfortunately this is simpler than it sounds. This solution would require extensive testing and certification prior to releasing it for sale which is not impossible but takes time.

In the meanwhile, we are looking at any and all options we can think of. We aim to address and resolve all of your concerns quickly, with integrity, and with the same enthusiasm we've always had. We wholeheartedly understand your concern and we agree with your sentiments. Please do not hesitate to let me know if you have any questions about this information.

Best,
Virgil from GHOST Vapes

However it works out, I hope the fine folks behind Ghost and ESPECIALLY their CS staff continue on in the world of herbal vaporization (hopefully still as Ghost). They have a top-notch product and they treat their customers with the utmost respect. Whoever designed the MV1 is brilliant, no doubt. Whoever created their business model (at least the customer side, obviously I don't know what the financial side looks like) has it NAILED. Cheers Ghost!

Peese all!

Sounds like not going out of business, batteries someday. The price drop means MV2 in the works and probably not that far off?

One thing people on this forum enjoy is having input, ignored or not, in features of new products. Many manufacturers are open about when a new product is coming out and solicit feedback. Those are favorite manufacturers.

Manufacturers that are not transparent, discounting heavily and dumping prior models in the hope of customers buying a prior and a new unit are not my favorite.

I said a while back that I wouldn't buy a MV2 because of the lack of transparency. I stand by that. I dont think it's cool to drop the price of units by 20, 30, 50% over the course of a couple months without letting people know why. That's causes people to feel like that they got a bad deal. Costco for instance allows people to honor deals after the fact to prevent that buyer's remorse. Costco puts an "*" on product labels that wont be restocked. It's all about transparency. Builds loyalty long term.

FW6 and TinyMight are new models where pre orders have been offered. That's a better approach.

I can't say I know why a company wouldn't tell us specifically why they are running a sale, I mean, Art Van has a sale twice a day here and the sign always says "today only". Marketing has to be a little bit of bullshit for it to work maybe, I dunno. But on the point about Costco and how they are so transparent, I think that's a bit different than what we're talking about here. Costo is only a storefront selling a whole bunch of other people's shit. Not to mention, they have more capital then they know what to do with. I dunno, let me run a crucible at 385 real quick and I'll get back to ya! haha.

Peese!

Boundless technology used to do something pretty cool for there customers back in the day where they would let you trade in your older generation device for the new generation with a heavy discount. This was very cool to do and i bet many didnt have buyers remorse. These devices are seriously expensive, I brought mine during 4th of july sale, and now it's less than half big difference.

The issue with batteries i believe has do to with companies who make batteries cant keep up with the demand, everything uses rechargeable batteries these days, they make millions and millions of batteries for millions and millions of devices and these smaller companies have to wait in line while the big companies get there orders filled first, look what happened with the grasshopper they recently got batteries to some customers after a very long wait. But I really dont know its just my guess. It sucks though, at least I have my dynavap lol!

Ghost has explained the batteries. Explaining a sale is one thing that I'm not asking about. It's a drop off in price of their only product by 50% in a month or so, that bothers me when they wont explain why... to each their own but I have made my point above. I'm certainly not buying a MV1 or MV2 from a company that wont explain--when expressly aked. Smells fishy.
