@DDave

I believe we may have lost @Altreac in the fog.

Lol, no.

I've just been reading the EQ thread. I'm 90 pages in.

Definitely been playing with my kit.

Very much enjoying vaping so far.
Just over 1 month in and I'm a convert.

I've already convinced 1 buddy to buy a EQ and another to buy a Dynavap.

So I'm quite positive that vaping is for me, and I will advocate it for sure.

I'm learning a lot, and quickly, considering I'm collecting the experiences of many users over many years.

I doubt I have to rave about @DDave's mods. It's all documented here. And I'm thoroughly enjoying the upgrade. From the improved performance of the bowls and stems, to the upgraded tubing and silicone collar provided.

I have zero regrets about my DDave mod purchase.

I'm just getting started. :)

You don't have to rave about @DDave mods, but if you are like many, you might not be able to help it. ;)

Greetings @breiter_fighter

The screens in my kit are fit to my adapters. Measure is 24.5mm on the screens.

If you sourced the adapter elsewhere, your center ring on the adapter may be a different size. (Only mentioning as when I ship adapters, I give way more than the amount in the listing and have yet for any to circle back for additional screens.)

Thanks
DDave

Thank you ddave.

I bought the adapter on ebay for a few bucks.

The shipping overseas and the high import taxes of 20% led my to try an alternative to the original mod (also the long waiting time - the customs office is horrible here).

I hope this doesn't offend you -

Thanks also for the tip that the center ring may have a different size - i will find out soon by trial and error.

Have a nice day

I suppose I should finish my thought... While waiting for my mod kit, I've been experimenting with my EQ.

I've been messing with pre heating. And various temperature settings, different packing techniques. I'm not getting the overall effects I'm looking for still.

I grabbed a small water piece, a 10mm to 14mm rubber grommet, so I can use the balloon mouthpiece into the water piece. That's nice, but I want the microdosing capabilities I've heard of in this thread.

I'm about half way through this thread now, and I've learned a bunch. Unfortunately a lot of the old pics posted don't miss anymore, so some of what I'm reading is out of context.

But this is all very interesting.

So far, I've got over an ounce of vaporized bud.
I'm trying, right now, to make muffins with the ABV. Making a dozen muffins with 16 grams of ABV. We'll see how this comes out.

I can't wait to get my mod kit, but it's going to be a while... Again... Damn Canada Post.

Still learning a lot from this thread, and an super excited to get my mod kit.
I just got the ddave mod, and i cant for the life of me figure out hw to get good vapor. Ive had to go back to the stock setup.

Does anyone have specific directions on how to use the 14 mm and 18 mm, specific temperatures and the auality of hits at those temps?

Maybe give us a breakdown of how you are currently using the kit?

Are you elbow/wand packing? Loading the adapter and hitting the whip or filling balloons?

What temperatures are you using?

How much product are you loading?

Have you tried pre-heating the glass? Or are you turning it on and trying to hit it immediately?

A little more info would be helpful.

Specific directions will probably be dependant on how you're trying to use it.

If anyone needs female to female, 14 to 18 ddave adapters, hit me up. I got these from Dave years ago but have never used them. Hoping to give them to someone that could use them. Just asked that you can cover shipping if interested. Thanks all.

Looking for some input regarding sticking joints and the application of beeswax.

I'm having trouble finding the balance between enough wax and too much wax.

I'm having issues with some joints getting stuck. Most likely because I leave the unit on all day, and turn it off with the wand in the bowl overnight.

The first time I applied the wax, I don't think I put nearly enough, and everything was still sticking. The next time, I put a slightly thicker coat, maybe 1/3 of a bead, rubbed onto the male glass joint of the wand. But this was way too much. It liquified, and the fluid was visible. I should have wiped it off then, but I didn't and the wax fused the bowl to the joint after it cooled down.

So far. All I need to do is heat everything back up, and work stuff apart. (No twisting! Just wiggle and pull).

I guess my question is: do I really need to separate the wand and bowl when the device gets powered off? Is the thermal expansion and contraction of the bowl such that despite the wax, it's gunna stick because the thermal load has been running for an extended period?

It only gets stuck the first time per day. Once it's released, it doesn't stick again until after cooldown.

I'm not worried about damaging stuff, because once they're stuck, I take the time to reheat everything and it's ok.

So any thoughts/experiences regarding stuck joints, wax and general practice would be appreciated.

Still absolutely loving the EQ and DDave kit.

Greetings @Altreac

If you're experiencing joint freezing only when you leave the hot wand in the hot adapter, then allowing both to cool, the beeswax won't help. The sticking is caused by a different issue, not ground glass surface friction. Best results will be yielded by removing the wand while still warm/hot.

Now, should you suffer from glass joints seizing when they were not allowed to traverse to a temperature extreme (either from hot to cold, or cold to hot) while connected, the method you describe should definitely be attempted... (Separation of seized glass joints by extreme temp changes).

Later,
DDave

I kinda thought it might be regarding the temperature differential. I was hoping it wasn't.

I suppose I'll have to get into the habit of removing the whip at the end of the night.

Thanks!

After more than a 6 years offering mods, I know beyond any shadow of a doubt that shipping costs remain a sensitive issue for some buyers.

A friend of mine who sells on eBay had this to say.... "That is why I charge about 25% less than the actual cost of postage, and make up for the rest by adjusting my prices. I know that this make no actual difference in what the buyer pays, but I also know that the buyer's perception is more important to the buyer than his reality. That is why I accommodate this quirk - however irrational it may be."

For me, shipping fees are passed along dependent on actual cost to ship to the desired location. Sure, prices could be adjusted to allow me to offer free shipping. But I feel there would be more who would lose out, and pay more than they would have had to under the current system.

Hello, i have a question about the ddave mod and the arizer eq.

If this mod allows you to get the same effects at lower temperatures,

Does it change the temperature at which the cannabis will combust?

At what temp with the ddave mod will the cannabis combust or start bleeding toxins?

That's hard to say exactly. I haven't heard of too many instances of people combusting with the EQ in general. It has happened for sure, but usually with heavily modded devices or really dry product/AVB.

I don't come close to combusting at 210/220°C with the DDave 18/18 F short/standard adapter.

"Bleeding toxins" ! What is bleeding toxins ? The mod isn't, I don't know why the EQ would. I personally avoid weed I think is toxic at any temperature. It's scary to even think about.

Greetings Friend, the docs I send along with my kits do advise one to start with temps lower than one would use with the stock cyclone bowl. Please understand though that the mod is not running any hotter than the cyclone bowl is, but it is using the heat far more efficiently, so less is needed.

At certain high temperatures, just shy of combustion, these substances can be created.

Aromatic hydrocarbons including benzene and napthalene are byproducts of incomplete combustion.

Very neat, im not sure if ive ever combusted so i guess im not really sure what it looks like. Its always in the back of my mind tho. I hydro-vape everything so hopefully what ever does combust is filterd
