Dreamwood DLX series One/Pro/M Bongvaporizer

Hello FC comunity!
Would like to present our bongvaporisers in a new thread.
This way it gets not that confusing in the Dobby/Vapopipe thread.

The DLX-One is the first vape we developed.
It is made of a wood heat diffusor with glass heat intake.
The bowl/herb chamber part is a simple 18,8/14,5mm glass adapter piece where the screen can be placed as desired or a basket screen can be used on top.
Fits on every standard ground glass conection with 14,5mm or with the adapter thats in the pack also with 18,8mm ground glass conections!
Comes with bend and straight glass heat intake, jetlighter, spare parts and tool.
DLX-One 49€/54,90$

Next we developed the DLX-Pro.
Made of wood heat diffusor and wood bowl conected with a stainless steel ring.
The steel ring is slightly oval, this way the parts conect and disconect with a easy twist move.
Comes also with straight and bend glass heat intake tube,
14,5 to 18,8mm ground glass adapter, tool, spare parts and jetlighter.
And also a direct inhale mouthpiece, so it can be used as a portable vaporizer without a bong!

We build a classic and a special line they work the same, just wood and shape are more exclusiv used for the special line.
Classic line 3 wood types to choose: olive, zebrano & padouk.

DLX-Pro Classic 69€/80$

DLX-Pro Special
(this one made of ebony and olive)

And the last addition to the DLX series is the DLX-M.
With wood heat diffusor and wood bowl part conected with magnet and stainless steel pin.
Just twist to open the herb chamber and stir with the stainless steel pin.
Comes with adapter 14,5/18,8mm (fits on most standard bongs/waterfilters), dry inhalation mouthpiece and spare parts!

DLX-M
special intro price 50€/55$

Yay finally a thread just for the DLX line! (I guess the Punch is more of a Dobby special technically? while these are fully unique)

Congrats on the new M, I am hoping to have a DLX of my own some day soon!

Ah the m is a good variation. One end has a hard attachment and the other has a magnet, I love when a vape involves a magnet. I see it comes with a mouthpiece, I'm curious to hear how that hits. I've only used my pro and one through water so far.

A lot of different options with different woods, I'll echo the whole lineup looks great.

Wow, I'm impressed. Both by the product and the nice quality packaging, even with a handwritten card wishing me fun with it. Plus they threw in a free lighter - thanks a lot for this. I tested it yesterday evening and it was a pretty face melting experience (watched a movie - I have no clue what it was about). I prefer using it dry with a j-hook. Only thing I changed was using a little basket screen for small loads (< 0.1g) so the heating was more even and the vapor denser. I also learned to point a big torch roughly in the direction of the flame intake - when the smaller and pointier flame from the smaller lighter was to far inside the glass intake, the wood in the air path was slightly scorched and the vapor had the taste of a hot saw ;) (even quite pleasant).

As I just wrote in another thread, I find it best to heat perpendicular to the opening, with a quad-flame producing the best and fastest extraction. It is kind of breathing trough the flame.

hey @Shit Snacks
yes a new thread is better for all to keep track...
you are right the Punch is like a Dobby with mouthpiece on top (bit shorter) but it will get a new thread too when we release the Punch classic lineup.

Is the pro the only one that can be used without a bong?

hello @kaisersosay415
the DLX-M comes also with a mouthpiece an can be used dry as a portable vaporizer, just like the DLX-Pro.
peace

OK, I'm in. Just ordered the New M version.
EDIT: do the herbs keep in place when using it dry with the mouthpiece?

@Schroedinger
nice! thanks for your trust and support!
yes the herbs keep in place if you push them down a bit...the inhalation also sucks the herbs to the screen...i tend to use it somewhat downwarts with the heat-intake, it works!
peace

I love the looks of the entire lineup!!

@ohmygodimsohigh
thank you very much!

@StormyPinkness thanks i thought you would like it! your one of the guys i made it for! ;) #magnetnerds

@Schroedinger thanks for the nice review i appreciate that very much that you took the time!!

Nice price point cheap stuff def sells better. When I've got a few spare monies I'll be grabbing one of these I think.
@davesmith
thanks, yes we wanted to add a cheap one to our lineup, so everyone can get to know butanevapes and choose if its the way for them!

As I just wrote in another thread, I find it best to heat perpendicular to the opening, with a quad-flame producing the best and fastest extraction. It is kind of breathing trough the flame.

that technic works nice... but i prefer to inhale the flame tip in the heat-intake-tube, with a bit of practice you know how far to go with your lighter and how fast to inhale...2-3 hits and a bowl is done this way.
this also keeps the intake from getting to hot so you dont accidently burn yourself...

Ordered Thursday set to be delivered in US the following Thursday.
One week from Germany.
Damn.

hey @duff my friend!
hope it arrives that fast!
mostly us-customs take a bit longer to go through...sorry hope it arrives fast!

Shipping is really fast - I had to sign for mine though. Had to end up going to PO to pick it up and all that. Not terrible but just wasn't expecting it.

hi @muunch thanks!
we do our best to be fast and helpful, we are just two brothers getting all work done alone, we work 24/7 atm to keep track of all the things to be done! hope you are all statisfied!? we try our best!

the signature is requested so nobody can rob the pack at your door, also when the postman throws it just there who knows if it arrived or not?

thank you guys for your support!

peace & love
stay safe

Hi Steffen, thank you for the great offer and great product. And I have to emphasize this: I was really impressed with that nice packaging - I still keep it in that box wrapped in that tissue until it falls apart (the box that is, not the vape). And, of course, I am really impressed by the finish and dedication on the vape itself.
yes the herbs keep in place if you push them down a bit...the inhalation also sucks the herbs to the screen...i tend to use it somewhat downwarts with the heat-intake, it works!

For me, it works best when holding it upward like a chillum (my favorite combustion methods many winters ago in the last millenium ;) ) But I usually use a j-hook.

Ok, I will give this another try this evening, but I found that with the other technique, it is pretty much impossible to char the load and the taste is slightly better. However, the downside is, as you said, a very hot intake (but I am used to the vapocane and the vaponic) and you need a bigger torch and more butane.

Well worn
Well USPS dragged it on an extra day but my DLX M arrived today in eastern US, eight days after ordering.

As others have mentioned, tremendous packaging and kit.

I too love the paper wrapping that Dreamwood and RBT use. Also adore the very nice 14mm to 18mm adapter.

The full kit and plenty of spares.

The build quality and craftsmanship are exceptional.
The wood is buttery and luxurious.
The glass is all smaller than I anticipated but looks and feels solid.
yOs9RS1.jpg

The magnet is very strong and the pieces align closely when snapped into place.

Built in fidget spinner.

It is exactly what I was hoping for in terms of size (it's tiny) and convenience.
I could toss it in my pocket, go to my buddy's and plop it in his glass.

I'm going to test it dry first and get a sense of what technique works best for me.

On the other hand, this I know how to use.

Edit:
Absolutely delicious dry.
Very similar to how I heat my SBJ except the inlet glass is not as wide.

@duff nice photos. Yesterday evening, my wife was out, so I did some testing with different torches and afterwards, for some reason, I was not really feeling like posting the results but rather watch some episodes of Rick & Morty. I tested and compared 3 torches with different angles and distances and so far my preferred method is with a 4-flame torch and a ~45° angle towards the intake - kind of semi-direct heating. That way, I got instantly very thick and smooth (through the j-hook) vapor, very even AVB and got knocked on my ass after 2 draws (that emptied the bowl pretty much completely).

Just realized how hash works best with this vape: similar as with a vapocane: roll some hash into thin string and wrap it in an SS screen. Then stuff it in the small hole where the hot air enters the herb chamber. Then heat very gently with an indirect flame - otherwise the hash can combust as it is much further up towards the fire than the herbs would be.
This gives you very thick and tasty hits.

My DLX-M arrived today! Also quite fast, just a week from Germany to Cali, and of course @Dreamwood threw in a bonus as well with their new peace style vapor pipe, conduction glass tube (body fits VapCap Ti tips, which I no longer have, too). Always wanted to try that style, and it is so stunning these pictures don't do it justice obviously. Not sure what type of wood yet, but check out those angles... The DLX-M is also gorgeous and has some nice subtle side angles too, aside from the cool big one up top, plus that long dark bold streak in the maple...
Thanks again Steffen!!!

Double post, where are the other owners?! Let's see some more useage posts in here, might help me because I got slowed down since I accidentally combusting in mine the other night on bowl #2... Still trying to get the smell to neutralize before I can continue testing, so I guess I should start testing the other goodie in the meantime. Here's a photo from before the incident, fortunately it is still so pretty:

Combustion is on me though as I was going too hard with flame in the intake while covering the air hole (I am so used to carb tapping from Daisy/Lily/Jr as it helps me get the right turbulence when drawing) so I need to learn to adjust here, definitely like it better than other direct torch convection vapes that don't have carb or air holes though... I also should probably be using a larger flame size I think.

I will say a few things for now so people know, the bowl size is actually larger than Lily, not sure if it is Jr sized yet, but at least in between the two. Thats an adjustment for me, while the flame intake is slightly narrower than Lily as well. It is also extremely lightweight, a tiny little piece you just drop on a bong like a slide/bowl. Spinning it around on the post with magnets works great, easy to spin, stir, spin back, and using the swing post as a stirrer does work, though I do prefer a narrower tip for stirring in general. I can definitely see why the DLX pro would cost more, with the DLX one costing less, it really does put the M as a solid mid level tier for the DLX line of water torch vapes.

If anyone is on the fence about Dreamwood I say jump in, I still have a lot more testing to do, but they are good people offering great unique handcrafted products at a fair price. They ship fast even internationally, providing a lot of little bonuses as well. Most of us know that these type of butane vapes are extremely effective for quality vapor since there are quite a few available now, but the Dreamwood designs are especially practical and the craftsmanship is really something special. Just check out their Instagram and you will see what I mean
