Piece Water

Hey guys,

I was at the Denver Champs show a couple of months ago and met the owner of Piece Water at the Magic Flight booth. He was a good guy and sent me home with a sample to test out. It's made for smokers and keeps their bongs clean, but it turns out it works well for our applications here.

I put some in my freshly cleaned test bubbler and used it about a dozen or so times over the course of a month (I know some of you just threw up in your mouth at that, but hang with me here). It made the water cloudy almost immediately after the first use and looked that way for the duration. After it being pretty spotless the whole time I decided to do some concentrate through it with the e-nano. Here's a pic of the bubbler before I changed the Piece Water for the first time.

And here's a closeup of the same bubbler at the same time.

You can see the glob on the side that got there from the concentrate. Before using the concentrate it was spotless inside with just flower use. So I figured the concentrate would send me to the ISO wash after rinsing. Instead, all I did was pour out the Piece Water and rinse the bubbler with hot water and this is how it turned out.

No mold ever showed up during the test, and I never added anything to the Piece Water. Overall I was pretty impressed! Value is a personal thing, and I am sure there will be those that think it is worth it and those that think it is not, but what I wanted you guys to know is that it does work if you decide to give it a try. I like it and have some more on the way. I'm especially stoked about it being in my Pokeball bubbler since I can't see inside it. Having the Piece Water in there lets me know it is clean in there!

For now the only places online I know of to get it are here:

Yes, I have used this stuff and found it had a very slight, indescribable taste on inhale and smell. Very slight.

The bigger problem is that in my testing, it seems like what this stuff does is collects your reclaim in your water. Of course, it is not recoverable after this point, since the Piece Water is clearly labelled 'not for human consumption' and your claim seems to end up not on your glass, but in the piece water you spill down the sink when changing. I didn't try purging Piece Water from the reclaim and I wouldn't, the contents are not listed and without some high resolution analytical results, I'd not be confident in determining what the piece water even is to purge it! lol

For those who don't mind sacrificing reclaim and don't notice/care about the slight taste/smell, this will work but IMHO, it costs a lot (only an absolute baller is going to be able to afford to both use this stuff and change it regularly - I am noticing this being super expensive and I own two sapphire e-nails!) and it sacrifices one of the great benefits of vaping/dabbing (reclaim). :2c:

EDIT: One last point to consider is that if the water from your rig is able to fully dissolve your reclaim, it is certainly dissolving some of the content of your vapor as it comes through!

Aside from what I said above, no. I have used it in 4 different rigs of various designs and the perc function was no problem, the piece water feels a bit 'heavier' but not in a way which noticeably influences the function IME.

Cool that was my main concern, I wasn't sure on the viscosity of it and how it would affect a water pipe.

It is a little thicker than water. I never picked up on any taste or smell, but I typically find that to be pretty personal.

This product was designed for smoking with no consideration to vaping, so I would expect some downfalls for us like not being able to reclaim. I told them that if they get big enough to specialize in vaping that we would love to be able to scoop the reclaim off the top of the water with a cotton type of product.

Also, there is a video of it on YouTube of it catching fire in a bong. That video is a spoof, but not marked very well, should you come across it.

For people like me who are lazy about changing water, this stuff is great. Certainly not needed for the vaporist who changes his water every day or two.

It's a cool idea but seems expensive when I rotate dab rigs on a daily basis! I keep my glass so clean with a steady rotation and 99.9% iso.
I already get made fun of because I will drink filtered tap water BUT I only used bottled water in my expensive pieces. It reminds me of Deuce Bigalow When he pours Fiji bottled water in his fish tank and then drinks the brown water from his tap! lol.
My girl told someone once not to grab the last Dasani and drink out of the tap because I needed it for bong water!!
Fuck hard water stains on a $500 piece of glass lol

I dab. A lot.
I recently came across this stuff and man I love it! I don't care about saving my reclaim so this stuff works great for me  I cannot believe how clean it keeps my bongs from dabs, since I dab. A lot. And usually my pieces get dirty after like 20 hits and makes me want to clean them. I'm pretty sure I've had almost 2 grams through my piece of glass and nothing yet! I'm super happy with my purchase

Tbh I was worried about dabs being different than what they advertise and it seems like residue is just residue, and will get picked up by the piece water.

I only rarely use water, and typically dump it right back out. But I could dunno it back into the original container.... Make cleaning my glass a lot easier... Dirty vape glass is nothing like dirty smoking glass, though. Yuck. Can't believe some of the shit I used to smoke out of. Lol

Me neither! Some friends would almost NEVER dump water out... Just refill!:worms:

SOO is it really worth it?
Thinking of getting some. I, like @stickstones, have a piece which I can't see inside and makes me uncomfortable not to be able to see any build-up, especially the downstem; it's VERY hard to reach.
What do you guys think, do fixed downstems clean fine as well?

I am aware it is expensive but this piece needs very little water, cleaning every month or so would make it worth it. It would also reduce drastically the need for extra cleaning product, ISO, etc...

Arent manufacturers of such products obligated to list the ingredients, cant someone have an allergy or something ? ? If this stuff is heavier than water 1000mg/ml then 3000 mg would be like 1-2 ml/kg,,. While inhaling 50-100ml is unlikely ,i dont feel like becoming a powerpuff girl by ingesting Ingredient X

It's their trade secret and probably won't be shared. You can choose to believe the testing without knowing the compound, or not.
Is it legal in US to sell a product without listing the ingredients ? For example Coca-cola list them, and they are all proud about their recipe to be a secret ? Imo not listing the ingredients is overprotective, if anyone wants to copy their product they will just send a bottle for chemical analysis to a similar lab,i highly doubt there is a secret for those labrats that cannot be uncovered.
I will never believe testing results for an unknown substance, also this test list is easy to photoshop(not saying they did that but it adds to the obscurity of the subject), if we knew the ingredients ,we could match it with other existing chemical analysis data for them.I doubt they invented the wheel there . Anyway i think material safety discussion isnt allowed than this kind of fits in this category,so i wont pursue this any further.. .
I feel that believing a legitimacy of scientific data for an unknown substance is quite the leap of faith in my book, but that is just me.
Peace.
lol :)

Here is a comparison between Rezblock and Piecewater if someone is interested.

That video was a spoof and did more harm to the brand than create laughs.

I don’t know what the rules are about reporting what’s in things that aren’t intended to be ingested. This one might slide into that category. All I know is when I asked him what was in it, I was told it’s a trade secret. Since I wasn’t drinking it that was good enough for me.

I got the same response form a guy at a show selling a new type of glass cleaner...he wasn’t sharing anything. Granted, a cleaning solution is different from a water filtration system, but he claimed it was harmless and drank some in front of me.

I didnt post that video as it is a serious review, therefore i add the ,lol after it.
@stickstones As mentioned vapor mist from percolation will end in your lungs and mouth so it will be ingested in small amounts.. but i guess this does not counts. In the EU there is regulation that demands that ingredients of all products are listed and probably we wont see it here for that reason.
Do you happen to know if this solution has any anti-bacterial properties ?Even if it does you still will have to wash your pipe daily, because the area where you put your mouth is also a breeding area for germs and co.
Also another review mentions (smokers review) that piecewater gets smelly quicker then normal water. Is that also the case with vapor ?

I didn't notice a smell, but it immediately got cloudy after one or two hits. This is normal for vaping with Piece Water, but I didn't like the look of it, so I only use it in my heady pieces where I can't see it.

That's a good question about the anti-bacterial stuff. I hadn't thought of that. I used to have a dialogue with the owner, but it's been a while. If you want to post some questions or pm them to me, I'm happy to see if I can get some answers.

Been using this for a while and am really impressed. Cleans back to brand new state after geological ages with a rinse.

Another plus is that it removes stubborn resin stains. Even managed to get some white marks out somehow.
I had one in particular that would only fade, but never quite come off. It was on a vertical angle and even salt, both coarse and fine salt mixed together or even separately (or any cleaning product for that matter) would barely make a dent. Came out after first use.

Do you happen to know if this solution has any anti-bacterial properties

I think what this stuff does is coat the interior of your bong. When there seems to be an angle, it doesn't stick, like on my Mobius Ion mouthpiece. But it does stay on vertical surfaces so IDK. I skake every day just in case.
If it doesn't stick it seems to lose any properties it may have.

I clean my mouthpieces every day or two, and its fine.
Otherwise I use a Mouthpeace and wash/rinse it. Even though I try to reduce silicone as much as possible, it is still a nice accessory to have. Especially for tubes with wide necks, which is the primary use I have for it.

piecewater gets smelly quicker then normal water. Is that also the case with vapor

I may be able to reply to both, since my Hex was acting up on me and combusted a fair few times before it bricked...:zombie:
I mean, I'm not a smoker so when it combusted it still smelled disgusting to me. :ugh:

But regarding vapour, I don't really see a difference after a few hits. I'd even say it's the contrary, distilled water (even with RB/CE) loses its freshness after 4-5. Depending on how much you put of this stuff it will cloud faster or not but, since its mineral oil I find it tends to absorb smells better in the long run than water.
Although it's not a miraculous anti-smell liquid... It will get funky eventually.
The upside is that there won't be ANY smells left in the piece when you clean it.

That is a big plus for me:

When I use a piece with water regularly, they tend to keep a smell over time. It does go away if rotated, but then all my pieces get that old cranberry-vapour smell at some point or another... Its very noticeable when they are clean and dry.

Hope it helps!

I received a small bottle of this stuff as a gift. Was thinking about putting in an ash catcher and regular distilled water in the rig to see how much it picks up and if my glass piece stays clean and only the ash catcher gets dirty. Any health updates on Piece Water?

Im not sure using this way will yield the results you're looking for.

I have no actual science behind my theories but its pretty obvious from my experiences that all these products do (Rezblock, PW, cran extract) is make whatever travels through them "un sticky" , like a surfactant (how soap works) to glass and other things. I don't think using them in a properly designed ash catcher will do anything beyond normal water as I don't believe ash and actual burnt matter are effected (assuming your still combusting using an ash catcher)

Also these products all seem to have "natural" core ingredients and are all prolly just some for of fruit acid extracts. Also since they have been on the market for long enough time to "prove" it more or less safe as any of the other trash we put in our bodies daily.

Can anyone verify that comment above about the EU demands FULL disclosure of ingredients, even proprietary ones? I know the EU does some ridiculous stuff regarding whats good for us and whats not but if i had some product I made that had a proprietary blend of ingredients I sure as hell wouldn't go writing it down for any sketchy Euro to copy it with zero fear of IP enforcement.

Do they have a MSDS? Definitely a good idea not to put unknown chemicals in glass that you'll be hitting.

I believe that he is using an ash catcher on his rig with vapes. So, may be a decent A/B test....ash catcher with PW and rig with regular distilled water.
Yup, I’ll let you know if I remember I put it in there, lol.

About ingredients and labeling in EU.

Yes, they did ask full disclosure of ingredients here in the EU, and it seemed like that was going to happen... Till... Coca-Cola said they will never reveal all of their ingredients, and started labeling their drinks with 'plant extracts'. And they were allowed to do so!

Imagine they needed to put on there that they are still using coca plant extracts? (Coca-Cola is to this day one of the few companies that are premitted to work with coca leaves. They extract the active principals and sell them to the medical industrie. That is also why none of the other soda producers can make a 'copy' of Coca-Cola, because no one else has access to coca leave extract. )

Personally, not labeling with the ingredients to me gives me a feeling of 'waith, what? What are they trying to sell me?

Afraid people will copy you if you do... Well, that might be shitty, but if you can keep on innovating that should not worry you!
