what do our lungs look like from the inside?

Incorrect, even on my short Arizer Solo glass aroma tube, there is only noticable particulate/oil before the bend. Just like that wand in the pic, there is typically whip attached to it, and does not get that dirty.

True, with daily vaping surely that coating on the lungs can't be healthy, but at the same time the good part is that are lungs are not cold glass :)

I've been a daily vaper for years, and don't have that chronic cough like I used to have when I bonged all the time. What I am trying to figure out right now is if this daily use has had an effect on my blood oxygen concentration. It's usually around 95-97% and i'm wondering if I abstain for a period of time whether that value will increase or not.

The bottom line is, yes that stuff in the picture posted at beginning of this thread obviously DOES go into your lungs when vaping. It would be a case of severe denial to think otherwise. It doesn't magically disappear between the stem and your lungs/throat. Vaping, while cleaner than smoking, is still putting that gunk shown into your lungs especially when you do it every day. The bad part is that we can't clean our lungs manually like people do when soaking your stems into ISO.

The critical reason our lungs arent all messed up like straight tobacco smokers (this also includes cannabis SMOKERS) is because THC is an expectorant, whereas tobacco is not.

Expectorants increases your body's "secretions", and for us, that means liquid buildup in the lungs. This liquid helps remove harmful particles from the lungs, so if you cough up phlegm, its actually not necessarily a bad thing.

(That being said, this prevents serious particle buildup of the lungs but doesn't mean they aren't [albeit temporarily] harmed in any other way from heavy vapor rips)

Here's a erowid article addressed to a university that talks about it:

http://www.erowid.org/plants/cannabis/cannabis_health2.shtml

In fact, marijuana has been shown to be an expectorant and
actually dilates the air channels it comes in contact with. This
is why many asthma sufferers look to marijuana to provide relief.
Doctors have postulated that marijuana may, in this respect, be
more effective than all of the prescription drugs on the market.
Studies even show that due to marijuana's ability to clear
the lungs of smog, pollutants, and cigarette smoke, it may
actually reduce your risk of emphysema, bronchitis, and lung
cancer. Smokers of cannabis have been shown to outlive non-
smokers in some areas by up to two years. Medium to heavy
tobacco smokers will live seven to ten years longer if they also
smoke marijuana.

SD_haze,
do you guys think vaporizing exclusively like a lot of us do could be potentially hazardous? I dont know how but I am just playing devil advocate. I feel much healthier then last year but my cough is weird. Its not deep or barky like a kid, or rough and grogy as a combuster and cig smoker but its dry. It sounds like a dry weeze but very easy going since it is a expectorant

I feel that after making the switch to vaporizing, it is much easier for me to tell in the morning whether or not I smoked last night. For me it's a heavy feeling in my lungs and a thick cough. Definitely enjoy vaporizing for ease on my lungs and though the heated air can be a minor irritant, it doesn't compare to what combusting does.

I only notice the irritation from vaing if I have or am getting a cold, the morning after a combustion binge(with friends) feels the same as that or a little worsebut while I don't have a cold

I purchased my SSV in June and I have not looked back.
I bonged for 35 plus years and noticed that after the age of 45 on ward
exercising was a problem mainly from gasping for air.

After vaping for even just two weeks I noticed that I am able
to run up a hill that use to give me problems. I am also not gasping for air.:uhoh:

I also noticed that when ever I would quit smoking, for a week or two
that black 'pipe resin" would get coughed up from my throat.
As if the lungs and throat were self cleaning.
After purchasing the SSV for the first week or so from vaping, I was back to
coughing up my lungs cleaned again. Seemed like I fooled my lungs into thinking I quit again.
For nearly 5 months now I have not coughed any resins out.

So I would think that vaping is a positive health choice, as well as
a smart choice if you are looking to make your weed last as long as it can.

My lungs are out of sight and out of mind. ;) I used to smoke ciggaresttes a pack a day for 15 years. I would also smoke 4 blunts a day. So vaping isn't a real concern to me.

6 days vapor free from an 1/8th per day habit (sometimes more, not many times less)... I can definitely notice that it's like easier to breathe or something. Just feels like breathing is completely effortless...I dunno, it's hard to explain. I'm also having big coughing attacks at times, usually after a shower, never productive though, just dry. I've had chest xrays within the last 2 years (been chronicially vaping for nearly 7 years now), and no problems.

I'm looking forward to having my blood oxygen (spo2) checked after another week vapor free. I'm starting to get concerned as my spo2 has dropped to about 94-95, and should be more like 98-99%+ Vaping is definitely not a great idea if you do it too much too often. Chronic low o2 is a huge risk factor for cancer.

Now if I could only fucking sleep! It's gonna be a looooooong road........ but can't even believe how great a clear head feels, and I swear being sober after such a long time is maybe even a better high! Maybe.

Meh, probably not. lol

I don't really give a shit. I'm gonna vape weed as long as I can. I'll be 50 next month and still enjoy the hell out of it. I only vape in afternoons after work and on week ends. MJ is by far healthier than smoking ciggs. And a lot more fun.. :)
