Hey FC, been lurking for a decent time and made an account to ask about a purchase I plan to make soon. I currently own an MFLB and adapter, but I want something with a little more punch and just something to change up the action of vaping- a nice desktop. I came to a forum despite prior research due to the ubiquity of sponsorships- you just can't get honest review anywhere except a forum. Essentially, I want what anybody would want out of a vaporizer, no special requests here. No strict budget either, I'll gladly pay a little more for a good vaporizer but if I only have to spend a little I would love that. My ideas are:

Vapobowl+ bong/bubbler- this could be anywhere from $50 to $150 total, I'd love to use hempwick as the design seems to put butane in the vapor as is. Is this a good vaporizing system? I love the action and social aspect of bongs, and I really like the way the "manual vaporizers" work. Would it be usable with hempwick? Would you recommend a turbo lighter for this purpose? If so, could I get a turbo for a reasonable price? (Thinking under $20). I'd love to use the piece for smoking out of as well. What bong/bubbler would you recommend if I went this route?

Da Buddah- Maybe through some really cheap glass, I saw some speculation the ceramic heating element (if I am correct it is ceramic) may be harmful? Is the DB something you recommend for flavor? Efficiency? Is it durable? Hard to clean? Anything outstandingly wrong about it?

Herbalaire- I see people recommending this a bunch. No idea why but if it's worth the leap I might take it. Can someone explain why it may be recommended?

Vapolution- ~$100 glass airway vaporizers? Sounds too good to be true, is there anything outstandingly wrong with it? Same questions as the DBV, really. I could use this with a piece as well due to the lower price.

Vrip tech heat wand and glass- I know it'd be $250-$300, but the little I've heard about it is that it is incredible. If it is I would be willing to spring for it. Any input?

These are what I've sort of narrowed my choices down to, but if anyone recommends anything my mind is open!

Can't go wrong with an Underdog, E-Nano or a HI, imho. The Evo would be a good choice too. Good luck. I don't own any of the vapes you listed but I know the bottom 3 are well liked. Feel free to ask any questions about any of the vapes I own. Welcome to FC, officially.

    Thanks!

EEK! 3 More choices. The Evo is definitely out of my price range if we are talking about the $450 vapeXhale, but I wish!

The Underdog, E-Nano, and Heat Island all seem difficult to find information on. I definitely am interested in the cosmetics of them, however I would never sacrifice function. They seem more underground as far as commercialization goes as well, it took me a while to find a place where I would even buy them. They all seem on the pricier side as well, but nothing I can't do for quality!

Since I really want to run my vapor through glass if at all possible, does anyone have any recommendations to a cheaper piece that at the least would provide smoother diffusion (instead of massive bubbles from no showerhead, that irritates me), and wouldn't splash? I'm not too worried about breaking the glass or smoking out of it. I feel like deciding on a glass piece would allow me to better choose my vaporizer of choice, but truthfully glass is something that intimidates me as far as variety goes. I'm unfortunately not near any smoke shops so I can't use them either.

Edit: Damn, just read your signature. What would you recommend me most out of your vaporizers, if you had to choose? :p

There are hundreds of cheap glass options- I can't really help you with that, but I would recommend the lotus vape to pair with whatever you choose. It costs under $100 for everything that you need for use with a bong/bubbler. It's powered by a torch lighter and has a clean air path. There is a slight learning curve but people who've hit mine for the first time tend to pick it up pretty quickly.

Is the vapor thick? Does the butane effect flavor much? I'm a wick nerd when smoking and I don't think I'd warm to it vaporizing.

I love learning curves, the MFLB was very fun for me to pick up as far as different hitting styles go.

Excuse my ignorance, but upon going to the Lotus website I seemed to only find $100+ pieces alone, I'm not seeing any glass attachments that could cut under $100 with the glass.

It would be tough to choose but I would say one of the three I mentioned. The Underdog and Nano are both fairly readily available. They conserve your herb, pair great with glass and can run 24/7 if you so choose. The Nano comes with built in variable voltage whereas the standard power supply for the Underdog is not variable but there are two good choices you can find on the forum. The Nano has a shorter heat up time as well. All the log vapes have great customer service behind them as well.

I was speaking of the Vapexhale. I wasn't sure what your price range was.

It's a tough choice for sure. Just beware of the dreaded VAS (vapor acquisition syndrome). Haha.

The Heat Island vaporizer caught my eye for only being $140 with a lifetime warranty- the Toasty Top was only $120 too. Aesthetics were also awesome :D Is it not readily available?

I can't really justify the extra $50 on the Nano compared to the Heat Island if I run it through glass, despite it being a little more aesthetically pleasing. I'm not a huge fan of non-variable temperature on a vaporizer, but if I can't have variable temperature the extremely hot 450 degrees of the Heat Island appeals to me.

Edit: I hope I don't run into VAS. To be totally honest, and I know this won't be a popular opinion on a vapor site called fuck combustion, I prefer combusting. I'm trying to vaporize to conserve herb more than anything, plus I love AVB highs. I have used my friend's pax on multiple occasions and don't like it due to the flavor and a headachey feel, but I love my MFLB and just want a vapor option that can work a little faster and/or be more social.

If you don't care about hitting it dry, this is what you'd want: http://www.lotusvaporizer.com/node/31

You'll need to acquire a bong separately- check the cheap bubbler thread (in the glass section) for some <$50 options.

For vapor quality you can get the whole spectrum: from wispy vapor to full on combustion if you heat it too much. Zero butane taste, as it's not in the airpath at all (air intake is one the bottom). As for actual herb taste, it's in my top 3 tastiest vapes (the other two are a life saber and a HI). As for the HI, it's awesome but there's a waiting list that's probably longer than you'd like.

The HI unfortunately is made upon request basically. It's a one man operation. You email him and he puts you on the list. It took me almost a year to get mine but damn was it worth it. The HI can be used with glass just as well but to warn you the $120 and $140 price rage are a little deceiving. You buy the power supply and stems separately. They aren't outrageous but I figured I'd let you know. I use a vvps called the Voltage Keeper. Very handy but goes for $45 which would put it in the same range as the Nano.

By the way, the Underdog is a one man operation as well. But he tends to have some available on his sight most of the time. HI's are a little more custom although you can get custom Dogs and Nanos too.

I cannot combust anymore because after vaping for awhile combustion tastes like complete ass. At least to me. They all are great for herb conservation.

OK, I'd definitely prefer to hit it through water. Now to be honest I was expecting to pay around $20-$30 for a manual vaporizer- what's the difference between this and say a vapobowl?

I'd just like to say I'm used to hostility on forums, especially on more specialty forums. I definitely love FC already ^^

Ah, well nearly a years wait and separate power supply and stems I think is enough to deter me from the HI. This narrows it down to "manual vaporizing" and my original list I think, though I am eyeing the E-Nano the $200ish range of the log vapes seems to be a little high for me, even the DBV at $150 is a stretch and I probably wouldn't run it through glass- at least immediately- due to price.

I feel you on vaporizing, I love my MFLBs flavor- but something about the effects of combustion are what gets me, everything else sucks.

Edit: On the matter of conservation/efficiency, my friend's Pax probably gets half the efficiency of my MFLB due to the continuous heating of the herb cooking it even when we're not using it. I imagine some vaporizers have similar systems and are less efficient, so that was why I mentioned it.

Simply put, you're paying for design, and exceptional design at that. I could go to home depot right now and probably make a functioning vapobowl in less than an hour. Not so with the lotus- it's more than just a metal plate and a piece of wood; there's some actual engineering involved. Is lotus making a healthy profit margin? Probably, but the product is good enough and cheap enough I don't care.

Glad to hear you're enjoying FC. :) I don't participate in too many forums (pretty much this and Reddit) but you'll find the community here is definitely more mature than the internet average.

If you want a cheaper manual vape, a Gnome or a Vapocane could be an option.

Well, I guess the question would be is there considerable difference in the vapor quality/thickness of a Gnome/Vapocane compared to the Lotus? I'm no expert in this field but it seems like quality of design in a system like this wouldn't really effect results by as drastic a margin as electronic vaporizers.

Ease of use and variety are large factors for me as well, so I'm considering something like a DBV+Cheap glass and a cheaper manual vaporizer to use on occasion. While the manual vaporizer idea appeals to me, I'd like to get into manual vaporization with a cheaper option. Speaking of cheap, I found this on the cheap glass forum:

    http://www.dhgate.com/product/d020-...se-perc-water/175832535.html#s1-1-1|465189105

It seems to have some reputation, any idea if it is 14mm or 18mm?

Thanks. You two have been so much help, I guess it's decision making time eventually. I'll necro this thread if I need more help, but I can't stress enough how much more I've learned from an hour here than days of traditional research, thanks for your time!

The Herbalaire has a very loyal fan base because of its value. It is every bit as functional and even more versatile than the "big name" vaporizers, but at a fraction of the price. It offers the unrivaled efficiency of optimal extraction without grinding, and it is built durable enough to last for the rest of your life. At $140 shipped to your door you can NOT be disappointed. :)

Where can you find it for that price? Just curious. I've been looking at that thread off and on.

    Right Here!
$140 shipped (in the US) with the full manufacturer's warranty.
A lot of vape manufacturers won't honor warranties on units purchased from third party eBay sellers, but Herbalaire believes in their product regardless of where it was purchased. ;)

    E-Nano, hands down.

The Lotus is an incredible vape, as many know, but here is a video of me hitting a bowl of thoroughly vaped Lotus AVB through my E-Nano/Luke Wilson 15 arm Tree. I think it speaks for itself :D

Do they even offer the D020 anymore?
    $28 including shipping is cheap.
Works better than a $300 piece.
Maybe they can't offer them anymore?

It works with so many different vaporizers!

    18mm fitting!

I'll just say that vapolution you mentioned in the first post is a decent unit for a steal of a price. I used one for years and I loved it. I would buy another myself, and I recommend it highly.
It is desktop but it comes with a car adapter and hose kit, and you can buy a battery pack.

    I have a few vaporizers.

Funny because the best one for the money is the VAPOLUTION 2 around $100. I use it all the time.
In the $200 and under the NANO is little and powerful.
    Pairs exceptional with glass.

There are more good expensive vaporizers however just get started with something!
