Knowing someone actually has one of these that doesnt stink, makes me want to go out and test all the ones at the shop to see if there is a clean one there.

Then I need to pipe in here with my experience. (So to speak.) I've only used three vapes, and I just bought a Magic-Flight, but the Vapir No2 I used was only several days old, and my friend hadn't done anything special to clean it up. It was very clean to my nose and taste, so clean it seemed I'd done nothing at all, until I had to be pulled off the ceiling. I think he had it set to 378F. I definitely liked it better than the Iolite I've tried, and overall I'd possibly prefer it to the ExtremeQ I tried.

I like my iolites a lot, but like the MFLB best. The NO2 I'm thinking of sending to Vape4Health to use in his research. Better use than tossing in the dumpster, which would be fun and gratifying, but ...

willieR,
Ok. This is my first post so take it easy on me.

I saw on page 14 of this thread someone mention about the noise (high pitched whining) it makes while charging. I had not noticed this until last night while I was charging it. The battery had gone completely dead while I was out, and when I got home, I plugged it in to find out it was now making a noise.

I am just wondering if this is happening to anyone else? Did I just let me battery get really low and this is a side effect? Did I mess something up and now it is going to make this now.

It only makes this noise when it is plugged in currently and I would love to know what you guys think.

(Also got this for Xmas for myself and couldn't be happier. Just wanted something that was QUIET, small and portable. I still have 2 of those things, would love suggestions to get the 3rd one back.)

Thanks a bunch

Well, I can tell you this. In the order of getting you most medicated, the NO2 is king for portables. I have an ioLite and a MFLB and I'd probably rank them in that order. My woman uses the NO2 all the time, the smell doesnt bother her. I will admit, Ive used it a few times too and fresh weed does a pretty good job of hiding the taste/smell but as soon as it starts getting toasted, the smell/taste comes back with a vengeance.

I really like the MFLB. For stealth, it reigns supreme. It does a good job at getting you medicated too but the NO2 does a better one.

Considering the smell, one has to wonder what is being added to the vapor that "may' contribute to that additional high (kinda like smoking that adds some unwanted things). Not saying that it does, but it is a concern none the less.

Well, I dont find the high to be any different than using an SSV. I certainly see where you're coming from, though. I have to believe that if this thing was hazardous, we would know by now. Granted its not my daily driver and I only use it every couple of weeks. The woman uses it maybe once a week. We have an SSV, a Volcano, the NO2, an ioLite, a MFLB and lots of glass so we have a lot of options. 99% of our vaping is done with the SSV. I loaned my Volcano out about 5 months ago and never bothered to go get it. I probably need to do that.

Not necessarily. And who would be verifying it anyway? Some poster on a forum? Many people exposed to toxins don't show any symtoms for years. I'm not saying yea or nay on the N02, just disagreeing that exposure to nasty substances shows up immediately. There's also a big range of 'hazardous', from mildly troublesome to lethal.

I think if there is a smell (a smell of melted plastic while using, fumes coming from an empty hot bowl, a plastic flavor during pulls, etc...) this has clearly to be considered; and as Max stated, as for cigarettes for example: you can consume them for years, knowing the crap you're inhaling but without seeing "immediate" consecuences on your health!!
As I already said mine does not smell nor smokes while doing an empty open burning at 205 (which I do once a week as a check up -yes I've been worried and suspicious about the "toxic fumes option" of my little boy since I registered on FC :D - and to easily remove any ABV roasted deposit on the internal walls of the bowl).
Nevertheless, if as planned I get a new portable vaporizer, that meets MY requirements on portability+efficiency, on my "pre-business personal test bench", such as the Incognito...I will check the guts of my NO2 to confirm both my nose/mouth are (hopefully :D ) not defficients, and report to FC!

Why would anyone feel safer when their herb masks the smell / taste of some chemical that should not be there...?

Again, Willier, I don't get your point (but I must be missing something) ...Who has said he is feeling safer when the smell is covered by weed's smell?
I am even saying once I get another portable backup vape, I will open my NO2 to check and report on melting plastic in its guts, eventhough mine has no smell ... I couldn't be more ojective!

I have a couple updates to throw in. One may be connected to the "plasticky taste issue." The other has a question connected to it. I'll try to be brief about both since some think I have been too prolific in my past comments.

1. As some have done, I removed my screen from the bottom a while back. I must have been using it daily for about 6 months now? and along the way, the bottom became blackened. I would use the bottle cleaner, but the bottom kept getting darker. My thought was, this is a serious case of resin which just happens over the use- maybe with moist herb too?. I would have kept thinking this until one day, while pushing the bottle cleaner metal tip around on the bottom some more, a chip of this "thin, black, and very brittle film" came loose. I was happy and thought maybe more would come and save me from having to worry about using alcohol down there- like for the tip. Until on another day, within a week or so, the bottle cleaner was ale to chip loose the entire bottom. Nothing sticky/resiny about it tho, made me think a little. And also the oddity of the bottom of the unit suddenly looking like 'brand spankin new." I mean it was clean brass. The oddity of all this stayed with me. Especially as I was watching to see what the new clean brass is doing with more usage. I have to consider that it is not "building up again" to look like it did.. SO The more I think about it, the more I wonder if there might be some sort of film on the inside, and on the bottom it heated up, got brittle and then flaked off with a slight chipping action. ? Anyway, those who have heated them a lot without the herb in it.. try chipping or lifting something off the bottom.. see what you see)

2. Just tried today to capture my exhaled vapor in a airtight bag. Then Redrew off the bag and noticed a nice vapor still visible in the recycled exhale. So This obviously is a way to extend your herb? Anyone know how long that would be sitting in the air of the bag? Does the herb vapor soon settle to the bottom side of the bag.. or could it stay suspended for some time? I might try exhaling into a bigger bag, and try it after an hour or two. Comments?

Question 1:
First thought: skystate did you do the initial burning of any possible manufacturing/stocking/packaging deposit, recommended by almost all vapo manufacturers...in the case of the NO2.... a 205c/20 mn empty?

2nd thought: as stated just above, I even do this burning once a week + iso clean of my both screens (top/bottom), and my brass looks as new as the first day. The only thing I have been extracting from these cleaning sessions is traditional MJ trichs/oils roasted deposit as a "ring" at the exact average level I pack my bowl...nothing to worry!

3rd thought: removing this film improved your flavor issue? Maybe you wanna check if this is coming from the 4 holes and then from the guts of the machine: NO GOOD!
If not, you might have dropped something at some time?

For the other question, yes some people re-use twice their vape through bags/balloons, but be careful with CO2 (inhale fresh air before each sip of the bag for ex.), and no 2 hours is far too long. In 15 mn you'll loose most of the flavors, in an hour most of the effects (both by condensation on the bag "walls")...I imagine even faster in a "recycled" bag...

In theory the compounds will condense at the same temperature they boil off at. So if a compound boils off at 245 degrees F(arbitrary number) that is the temperature at which that compound will begin to condense. Since the vapor is pretty well below its boiling point before you inhale it the first time, it is already condensing as you inhale it. Since there is not much in a bag to condense onto, the vapors will condense on itself(coalesce) into larger droplets/particles. This will continue until the particle adheres(more likely) to something or settles. The time this takes can vary. The more the vapors condense, the more the remaining vapors are insulated from each other and the slower the process becomes. This leaves that trace of lasting "barely vapor".

The unit is truely so horrible that its a little funny. It would make for some entertainment for someone to do a spoof positive review and post it on youtube.

"No herb? No problem! The vapir no2 comes equipped with a lifetime supply of 'secret vapors'. Gone are the old days of efficiency and satisfaction. Our newest models are equipped with a unique "distraction" feature. We guarantee a headache so powerful you won't know what your missing. The illusion of control is firmly within your grasp with our appealing digital display. Art meets science in our well ventilated units. So many gaps to draw from, which will you choose? And if you aren't 100% satisfied with your purchase, fret no more. Our unit doubles as a paper-weight, door stop, and can easily be thrown at pesky vaporists that insist on paying less to get more. Our money-back guaruntee is sure to delight those who are willing to embark into the world of make believe. This product is uniquely shaped to sit firmly in the bottom of your trash bin, but don't take my word for it, see for yourself!"

:brow:

Oh WOW is that a good one!

Some people were talking about a leakage and it being not air tight. Have you all noticed that?

Is there extra odor leaking out of this vaporizer? (its a leakage defect on the mouthpiece, not the machine right)

I agree. The Magic Flight Launch Box is awesome. I love the simplicity and efficiency of the unit. However, I also love my Vapir NO2. That thing absolutely rips! The Iolite on the other hand, not the biggest fan. I have a difficult time getting good rips on that thing.

On the NO2 the leakage...is only the vape coming out from the mouthpiece if you don't inhale, during a sesh...meaning a mouthpiece with a closing valve would have been awesome, though the finger works great!
Previous models from Vapir had serious and very frequent leakage issues. On my NO2, the top cap is air tight. But it's only a simple rubber O-ring to seal it that could be changed if not any more efficient... High temps O-rings that size available everywhere!

Which one is the top cap. So its only the mouthpiece connection. Nothing venting on the side? Not understanding what would the higher temp O ring would accomplish. Thanks for the help.

I mean the black nipple part on top of the unit where you connect the tubing.
If you look carefully, when you pop off this top part to access your bowl, there is black O-ring in there: that's your air-tight guarantee!
If this O-ring, with severe usage gets "fatigue"... I'm just saying you could easily replace it as it is a standard high temps O-ring.
And no, no lateral venting at all...Only a little vape escaping from the mouthpiece if material is percolating in the bowl while you are not inhaling (same as a Q mouthpiece if you don't inhale for example). A finger on the mouthpiece is perfect IMO!

I've noticed lately that my NO2 irritates my throat. It could be that it's winter and being inside with all the dry heat.

I'm a fan of my NO2, but I am concerned about that.

I am interested to try other vapes to see what all the fuss is about the taste/smell issue.

Do you still taste the plastic? Checked your bud for combustion?
