Well there is some movement of herbage around in the ELB during pulling. Think of it like a cyclone effect. It doesn’t seem to be doing said thing as the bottom is much darker than the top.

My unit is at least 4 years old. I’m definitely not in warranty. Not sure what I could do other than send it in to get fixed.

Perhaps you only need it re calibrated? But the obvious questions first. Are you packing more per ELB or any denser materials than beforehabd? That would be the simplistic explanation to the scorch on bottom/light on top. I get that kind of problem, if the pack is too dense for the air to pass thru.

I'd do a PCB power check. Turn it on and wait for it to reach 12:00. Does it seem any quicker/longer than normal? Now set it at 3:00 and judge how long that takes to reach that point. Then back to 12:00 and rate how long it takes to reach 12:00. If it doesn't go back to 12:00 at all, then that sounds like a cracked bamboo or the metal coil separated from the insulation or some other problem that requires opening it up. If it seems to take forever to reach 12:00 then perhaps a sensor issue?

I had mine re-calibrated for the cost of S&H thru XHL. They wanted the serial number and purchase number first. So if you have the invoice, and mention the code, they might not necessarily inquire about the length of warranty. ;)

Worst case, if it is the bamboo. I believe that might be $75.00 to replace. But then you will have a working unit that has been looked over.

You could also inquire what might be a worst case cost scenario for costs. #1 might be the bamboo. They might just calibrate it for free, if you pay S&H like I did. :peace:

I thought it was very smooth myself. But only got the unit without the whip and have been Gong with it. Do you think it keeps the potency after filtering? Some water pieces seem to strip out too much.

Wish I could use my bong with it. I ordered the wrong adapter piece so I'll have to get another one...
It definitely does keep the potency, because I get FADED with this thing! Of course, I am still using wax only right now. Can't wait to get some bud this weekend.

Is it clean? (sounds like it's malfunctioning ... but maybe if it was really dirty around the smaller orifices ...)

Hey everyone. All my Elbs are clean. I clean them religiously. Some of these elbs im sure I’ve had since my original cloud. Anyhow all elbs are in great condition and still produce same results. It used to be with a clean elb I could never get the herb that dark. Now it’s super dark.

Yes the bamboo is also somewhat clean. Nothing really by the holes. And the side has of the bamboo has a layer of junk that I just can’t get off.

I haven’t decided what I’m going to do yet.

I take a couple of rip's then stir.
I throw my ABV in the planter however the color is tan all the way thru?
    1970 I started smoking JOINT'S.
The EVO taste way better than smoking?

I have many setups of water now at present.
When BonG's became VOGUE 78 after the REGGAE craze I never liked BonG'S.
JOINT's until 2012 water pipes got smaller mouth piece's

    Sorry for drifting?

Finally got some flowers today. I tried them out in the Lynx with the whip kit and I love it! The mouthpiece is sick, and it will be so easy to hand back and forth to the wife or a friend. Got some nice clouds just now - fucking love it. I think it's the most chill way to use the EVO.

I understand the warranty is over. But you could chat or email XHL and tell them what you are experiencing and possible options.
That won't cost you anything. And then make up your mind if it is worthwhile to have a repair or not.

Any tips to safely clean an EVO for a delivery?

@voyciz SO the Lynx with a whip kit makes a great passer. Cool.

    Free dab!!!

    Yes!
I cleaned my HT and man, that was worth it!!! almost a 1g of resin.
I think I finally found out my best method for re claiming.

    My method for glory :

First off, wash with ISO 99%, shake the damn thing! be sure to sell the bottom (much more important than top)
I would say this is fine for reclaiming, but in case you want to clean the HT, make sure you dip it (still sealed) in bowl of boiled water, just for a few moments and re shake.
After finishing this, take a glass bowl/jar and spill the brown liquid to it.

Now, I prefer to leave the bowl for a night or 2, somewhere safe, so the liquid can evaporate, but I guess, my next step could work as well.

The next step would be to turn on your oven and set it to 90C (or 195F) and once its heated, insert the glass bowl/jar inside.
I'd give it 10 minutes and be done with it, you can see the resin turning into oil and be happy, its not safe for vaping ;)

Cool the bowl/jar and once its in the room temperature more or less, put it in your freezer, for an overnight I'd say.

Come morning, take the glass bowl/jar out of the freezer and work fast.
Try "breaking" the sticky resin from the glass and quickly store it in a container of your choice.
I would leave it in the freezer since its so sticky.

You can also scrape the glass bowl/jar before freezing it, but you'll lose some oil in between. (I did that mistake last time)

    Good luck! its worth it!.

I'm no expert on this subject at all but @herbivore21 knows a good bit and may weigh in......but its my impression that; 1) vaping any ISO residue is a very bad idea and; 2) you can't purge an ISO extraction reliably without vacuum as well as heat.

I can't attest to any of this personally, but do I prefer to use ethyl alcohol as I'm not worried about and residue left in the reclaim.

"vaping any ISO residue is a very bad idea"
You are correct - ISO evaporates at 82C, so 90C it will evaporate all of the ISO remains.

I can assure you, there's no harm, once its evaporates.

What do you mean by vacuum tho?

As for ethanol, I wish I could, that's like 6 times the price.

A vacuum purge chamber with a heater built in. I gather this is often the recommended way to get all of the ISO out of a solution.

I have been told, but again have no verification of this, that just heat will not fully purge an ISO/cannibinpoid solution.....but you have actually been doing this while I never have personally.

I wouldn't advise advising people to evaporate highly flammable liquids in their oven at home...
That could lead to a new kitchen, or worse...

And in certain conditions iso may evaporate at 82C, but you can't assume you have them conditions.. especially since alot of the iso is surrounded by the oils, protecting it from the heat...
A purge is definitely necessary in my opinion...

I also highly recommend not messing with ISO unless u have a vac chamber.

ISO works to make oil in a pinch, but in my experience it has always been subpar compared to butane or CO2 extractions made with the right equipment.

OK Well, I always let it evaporate a day or 2 in the fresh air, prior to using it in an oven, its already in solid form when doing so.
    I never had any issues...
Hopefully I won't be dying any time soon

    Help me understand @kellya86

If you have something serious with your EVO would you just send it in for repair?

    VXL hydratubes???

I have a Turbine and love it but have been considering their "precision" models with smaller can.
I'm actually looking at the Factory Second Precision Turbine for max flavor.

What kind of luck have you had with their "seconds"? How good or bad are they?
    Thanks

All of the seconds I have seen on here have been really high quality with very minor blemishes. I remember someone here even returned one because it had a hole or didn’t function right and and VXL sent him another one no problem.

has anyone ever accidentally left an elb in the evo for a long period after taking a hit? i took a hit and heard the doorbell ring and it was my neighbor, we talked for about 25 min and when i came back i noticed i forgot to take the elb out so i proceded to take a draw and the flavor changed drastically. i soaked the elb and cleaned the ht but still tastes the same.

years ago I had a iso-2 in 1977 and the directions said put a few drops of distilled water in the oil and keep on heating the oil until the water disappeared they said the iso alcohol was gone. I made a lot of hash and hash oil with that unit before I sold it. sometimes I wish I still had it.
