It is awesome seeing all the new love for the Tubo happening. This is an awesome vape that does more than just hold its own against any vape I have.
Not tempted by the Dual much, the TubOG size is about as big as I would go on a portable. Swapping batteries is so quick with the magnetized door.

About the only bummer was the Tubo not seating all the way on to my FC-188 without an additional adaptor. It hits glass about 3/16 too soon. I'm guessing it would sit the same on the FC-187, having the same size top.

Thanks for the advice. I tried it, packed the basket tighter and drawed more carefully than usual. I also usedthe bent stem whichdoesn't allow long inhales as its getting too hot for me quite fast.
Same result unfortunately, the middle was very dark, alsmost black while the outside was almost green to light brown.

How do you pack your tubo? Also with the double basket screen method?

My guess is that the basket screen maybe the cause as the rim seems to be quite thick and maybe is focusing the airstream to the middle?
Any other method to micro dose?

When I first got my tubo a few month ago I'm quite sure I didn't have the problem with the uneven roasting and I don't know what have changed since then. But at the moment this problem is damping my fun using the tubo... :(
Maybe @funkyjunky has heard of this problem before or got a solution? My coil resistance is at default settings .206 and i haven't changed anything in the settings.

I pack the stem, tamp it very slightly, and cap it with an empty basket. My grind varies from fine to medium. Though I do believe I get more and faster vapor with a fine grind, medium works well enough. I can microdose with a full stem, because it is a true convection vape. Sure, I might waste a bit of herb this way, but to me it seems insignificant as compared to the convenience of not loading as often...enabling me to just pick it up and hit it. For me, loading the baskets puts the herb too close to the heater. Of course, that could probably be alleviated by lowering the temperature, but I like the full stem anyway. I’ve settled upon starting at 370F. I temp step to 400F in 10 degree increments.

As @Shit Snacks mentioned, heating the center more than the edges is common to convection vapes. I see this with mine, but not to an extreme like you’re describing, though I do stir occasionally. I’m thinking your device may be running too hot, so you may want to try lowering your resistance as described elsewhere in this thread. My own experience with the Dual when it arrived has given me the perception that if the resistance is too high, the potential exists for it to get too hot at ANY temperature setting, and I’d imagine continuing to use it would have to result in an extremely over cooked center. All opinion, of course, but I think worth trying.

On a side note, I still look at all the other new vapes, and get tempted to buy them, but then I ask myself “Why”, and conclude that so far, for my use case, none of them offer anything over @funkyjunky’s products (ok, the Square has me interested for it’s 4-chamber design, and I do have a Nomad coming, mainly for the unique artistic/craftsmanship aspect). Heck, funky’s firmware is even catching on with at least one other vape!

    Now I’ll let @funkyjunky weigh in. :)

I don't get tunneling/charring with the microbasket whatever things.

    Joint-packing w capsules I didn't either though... I use a direct-to-lung pull, like I'm pulling on a bong or something.

I rarely go above 390, it's too harsh for me. I don't really stir either. I find my material is still kinda "packed" together like it was sticky still, after I finish a cruise session on a minicapsule... but I can never get anything worthwhile from stirring it and hitting it again, or even dumping it into my flowerpot afterwords.... just a small cloud and poor taste since the session is mostly done.

I will keep an eye out for something a bit more portable, but I think I'll probably just get a pax era at some point for ultra discretion and live with everything else.

Tubo has withstood the test of time here. Close to 1yr since I've had it and there's not many vapes I care to try still, and the tubo is one of the ones I kept so...

I have 6 capsules currently, once I have 10 usable ones I should be covered for all ventures! haha I do wish there was a way to distinguish between different strains in the capsules, but it works well enough, for sure.

Just wait until the magnets fall off, even quicker to swap batteries! :ko:
Seriously I do love how the puzzle etching of the wood holds it secure regardless

Thanks for shining a light on the lower temps for me. Did an awesome session cruising starting at 350° and bumping it to 360°.
Looks like I may be able revisit it later at 370 and kick it up to 380 to get more mileage per bowl.

Ok so I tried modifying the coil resistance. I accidentally went the wrong way, turning the resistance up (from .206 to .211) BUT I got much better results than before. I got huge clouds at 180°C - more or less the same I get with my Fury at the same temperature.
I read @horst post #2244 and tried that. I cooked my herbs until no more vapor was visible and put them in my fury. I only got one more hit with barely visible vapor at the same temperature setting.
BUT weird thing is that I didn't got any noticeable vapor going up to 220°C.

I'm so confused about the temperature settings and coil resistance at my tubo right now... I'll need to try some more resistance changes.

With my new resistance when I go into warmup mode I can see the coils slightly glowing in the dark. It's not much and I can only see it in the dark. Should it be like that?
It's a PITA to always wait for the tubo to cool down before changing the settings again.

Soo that happened to me yesterday. Upper magnet fell off. I tried to insert it back into the chamber - with success- BUT I put it the wrong way round so that now my door won't close anymore as the magnets are pushing each other off :ugh:. And now I can't take the magnet out as it fits too strong.

Damn! Sorry to have jinxed you, should've just left it as is, that happen to someone's Zion cap and they had to send it in to be fixed lol You're may need a trip to back to Europe... Can try glue to pull it out? Otherwise resistance-wise, it should be fine stock, so I'd reset to factor defaults personally and try again... Good luck

@frosty234 I would start with a fresh firmware install and stock (on door) resistance.
Try lower temps for vape comparison next time maybe.
For the wrong sided magnet you could try to get it out with a very strong magnet, like some fridge magnets, toy magnets or those found in an old harddrive.
Hope something of my tips will help you :)

Hi guys, I'm gonna try and reinstall the firmware to see if my problems can be remedied. I need to download the 7-zip program to unzip the tubo download, can someone please tell me which 7-zip file to download? There seems to be 4 choices, I tried the 18 beta 64bit version and I couldn't open the tubo folder with it. TIA.

So I just tried to re-install the firmware but my computer doesn't even recognize the tubo...
I tried several cables and ports, also the Ntoolbox program instead the tubo joyetechupdater. Won't find my tubo.

Okay, for me it is just a binary I can download. Don't directly open with browser, is there an option to just save? Then you can open with the update software.

Can't you just open the firmware file with the tubo updater?
    Or the nfe toolbox?
Or do you try to install those?
Do you know what you need for updating?
The firmware (the link I posted)
The software to upload to the tubo (this one is a zip)
    http://tubo.lamart.ch/fw/tubo-joyetechupdater.zip
Then you open the firmware inside the update software.

Sry but i might have mislead you,I think this is a fix for when update fails ,i dug up the conversation with FJ, and i was complaining that updating the software fails halfway and he responded.
""remove all batteries, connect to usb, it should start to flash display. then hold the plus button until flashing stops. now it should accept another firmware update.""

someone called for the tuboman? here i am! :D

sorry for the absence, got sick the second time in 2018 already. kind of a rought start.

the awesome thing is that the community is really good at helping and i am too late to really contribute anything new.

yes, the dual needs another applications to do the update. you can find it here: http://www.joyetech.com/mvr-software/?sid=211, i will add the link. beware from the included firmware, it will reset all settings and apply the joyetech stock firmware. use the updater from joyetech (the exe-file) and the latest tubofirmware from lamart (the bin-file).
the same is true for other tubomyevic supported mods that can be used for the tubox.

BTW if you dual guys want the tubo logo, on your screens you can upload it with the updater as well. (its included with the tubo og updater zip and i will also include it to the dual updater)

the nfirmware updater from nfeteam.org is model independent, it does look a bit more complicated tho.

@frosty234, the fact that you get a centered hot spot means the three tubes are still all working correctly because if not the spot would rather be on one side. for me it sounds like you are going at it too hot, the displayed temps are calibrated for a joint load. the nearer the load is to the heater the hotter the air will be or the further away the more it will cool until it hits the load. if you do baskets at the tip i recommend lowering the temp by around 10degC.
OR you use dirty baskets that could tunnel the heat through the middle section more than to the sides.

uhm yeah, off to like every post in this thread :D please ask again if i miss questions!
edit: just liked 130 posts, you guys are crazy

    happy tuboing! :freak:

edit: one really small thing that i need to correct: there is no harm in adjusting the coil resistance when the heater is hot. it does not matter.
this is only important if you dont know the resistance of your device/atomizer. the mods read the resistance when a device is connected and correlate them to ambient temp (70F i think i saw in the code) aka the cold resistance, thats how they get the temps into ballpark automatically. this is more important in ecigarette world. i supply the calibrated resistance i found to represent real temps most appropriately. also the whole system is different since we heat air to heat herbal material (where we want the temps to be that are displayed) instead of evaporating liquids straight off the coil.

Aw man that sucks, I wish you better health in coming days!

I have a new question now:
I am nearly sure I read before that tubo needs to cool down for something setting-wise.
If it wasn't resistance changing, what was it?
Or was it nothing? Also good :)

Definitely cool down for the coil value change but I seem to remember reading that it was recommended for firmware updates too but I could be wrong. Better to play it safe I would say.

On a side note my tubo is knocking my socks off. Figured out why I was getting such weird results, now if I stick to what works I'm rolling like a pro. You guys aren't exaggerating one bit, I can't remember the last time I walked in circles:D

@funkyjunky thanks for the constant support, hope you are feeling better. Loving my tubo, I'll do some more testing and keep you updated:)
