This is my first post on here, but I'm sure many more will come..
I've recently been designing ideas for a new portable vaporizer based on what people complain about with current portable units. I sent these ideas to Ploom, the designers of PAX, because it would utilize some technology that they have already dealt with in the PAX, but in a new way.. However, they politely declined my idea and sent me here in hopes that I could find others to jump on board and help me create something innovative.
My idea is somewhat "short" but not at all simple..
Its called the Space Blunt.
Most people complain about how portable vaporizers don't allow you to pack enough herb into them, how they burn too quick, how their throat gets too dry too fast, how some aren't small enough, you can't use them with others for that long without having to repack many times, etc
So I decided to take these ideas into consideration and try to come up with something new.
The result was a mix of an E-cig, a blunt, the PAX, and a mini glycerin coil disc.
I'll start from the bottom up I suppose...
The front end of the vaporizer would have a honeycomb shaped LED light that would allow for airflow into the unit through the holes in the honeycomb. This LED light would change colors as the PAX would with the flick of a wrist to display battery power and such. Inside the unit in between the LED and itself would be a VERY small filter to purify the air flowing in such as on VAPIR's volcano style unit.
The chamber would be as if you were rolling up a blunt, but you wouldn't need to fill the entire thing if you didn't want to(something most vaporizers don't let you do) how? This long tube chamber would actually in a sense be three separate chambers that act as one, but function separately. The chambers would be on a timer, similar to how most vapes go into standby to cool down, but these chambers would be timed to start to cool down after the herb has been perfectly vaporized, around the time that timer is about to click, the next chamber begins heating up, doing the same thing again till the last chamber is vaped out. This would allow for the chamber to cool while you're still using the unit.
Next we have the mouthpiece..
In between the mouthpiece and the unit could be something similar to a glycerin coil on an Illadelph or Pyrology bong.. Again.. How? This "mini coil" so to speak would be a small disc slightly bigger than the batteries you'd stick into a large laser pointer and it would screw into the unit, then the mouthpiece would screw onto that. The actual mouthpiece would be nothing special, somewhat of a conical shape with a decent sized hole for airflow and cleaning purposes.
As for powering the unit on I would like to see something in the lines of what Ploom did with the click down function on the PAX as I think a lot of people like the sleek streamlined easy to fit in your pocket look.
I believe all this could be accomplished with the right team of people, as of now that's all I'm searching for.
Any thoughts or ideas on this would be greatly appreciated, I look forward to hearing from anyone on the forum!
